Annoying/Raging Moments in Video Games
« on: March 26, 2012, 01:08:06 AM »
The old thread we had for this has not been posted in for a bit more than a year so I will create a new one.

In the Movies I created two movies that were hugely successful in the video games box office rankings and 1 of the 2 films was reviewed as 89% Positive by the in game critics and the other was reviewed as 72% Positive and they both gained more money than it cost for the budget to make the films and they were up for awards in the in-game Academy Awards style award thing, and the Action movie was up for: Best Movie, Best Action Movie, Best Actor, and Best Actress. And I thought it would win because it was the most successful movie that year in the game and guess what, it ends up losing the Best Movie and Best Actress Awards to a drama movie created by an opposing studio that had a negative 13% from critics and made only half what my film grossed and yet it still won which shocked me, at least I won best Action film and Best Actor awards. And the other film which got the positive 72% from critics made about 900 Million(My highest grossing film in game) in the box office was up for Best Film, Best Sci fi Film and Best Actor and guess what this time a Comedy film that grossed only 170 Million and received a 69% Positive rating from critics wins best Film and Actor though I won Best Sci fi film. It did not impress me. :ouch:

But now that I have the expansion pack(Stunts and effects) I can create the sequel to The Hidden Universe and make many more action movies and get many awards for best Sound Editing, Special Effects, Stunts and stuff like that for the upcoming films and not be cheated out of victory by Drama and Comedy films in that :gunz:

Anyways the movies I were talking about that I created (The Sci fi film was called The Hidden Universe and the Action film was called The Taking of Plane 976 3D are on Youtube)
Links to films:

Anyways what are some points in games that Annoyed you or angered you.

Shao Kahn from chapter 16 of Mortal Kombat for the Xbox 360. I couldn't beat him on medium, I couldn't beat him on easy. I could only beat him on beginner because I spammed him. The annoying things are that all of my moves do half damage, his moves are quite insanely powerful (his X-ray move will immediately remove 52% of your health), and most of his moves have hyper armour (essentially taking no damage, no knockback, and continuing with the move he was doing). The fact that I had to spam annoyed me so much that I punched my controller and broke the right stick. My own lack of skill in being able to successfully do Vega's ultras with any consistency (or under pressure) led me to throw my other controller at the wall, breaking the left analogue stick.

Oh yeah, and pretty much any escort mission ever. An exception to this is the one from Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer (or maybe it was Year of the Dragon that had the escort mission) where you had to lead the scientist that had the bomb and you had to crush the obstacles  before he reached them. If you failed, he would say 'Ow, I went boom...again' which was just more amusing than anything else.
Yes that sequence of words I just said made perfect sense.

How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

The entirety of Shinobi
That moment in MGQ where you realise you forgot to save before the battle
That moment in any of the Etrian Odyssey games where you realise you forgot to map and you're running really low on health
That moment in Etrian Odyssey 3 where you're out in your ship, so close to getting to a destination... and run out of provisions

Oh god, that one. That was always the last egg I had to get in Year Of The Dragon. You TRY to figure out which way he's going to go, you stomp whatever's in the way, AND HE GOES A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DIRECTION. It took me at least three days on that mission to actually get it. But I've since completed the game (117%) four times. It's still a contender for the best game I've ever played. =D

On occasions in Red Dead a character can fall through the ground and still shoot at you, so you are getting shot at and it take a second or two to realise what has happened, was funny the first time.

Time limits that only allow for only one messup. It's not challenging, it's stupid.

Realise you've spent 10 hours on your PS Vita in total over the weekend, and no hours homework.

The entirety of Shinobi

You haven't actually played Shinobi (3DS version) and you assume that difficulty is relative to the rage it generates. It rarely annoyed me...apart from the jungle stage (damn helicopter sections) and the last stage (precise platforming, the part where you need to jump once (perfectly to land between spikes), wall jump, double jump back on yourself, wall jump again (avoiding the spikes), and grappling (I only managed it because of the lightning)...oh yeah, and the last boss having three stages was rather irksome, but the game itself was immensely fun. As for original Shinobi (the arcade version, and I think it was re-released on the SNES too), I haven't played it, but one life and one continue otherwise back to the beginning of the game, that sounds difficult and extremely annoying, the 3DS version really wasn't...I need to try the original at some point.

Etrian Odyssey, when you realise that that the reason you can't find your way is because you made a mistake on the map...also when you are returning from a very successful trip, only to be killed at the last moment.

There was also that moment in Just Cause 2 where somebody had glitched into a building and could still shoot at me, but I couldn't kill him (and his bullets did a heck of a lot of damage in comparison to other people). I couldn't even grapple him out of the building.

Movespammers on pretty much any fighting game. Sure, I should have the skill to beat it, maybe that's what's so infuriating, that I keep making the same mistakes.

Also, Fire Emblem when you come extremely close to victory and then a character dies (this only applies if you are like me and try to get through the game without losing any characters (i.e. reset if a character dies)).

And with pretty much any game, coming extremely close to success, only to fail at the last second/miss the target by a tiny amount.

And when I was younger, the mission where you had to follow that guy without being seen on Spyro (where you had to hide behind the trees), that was hateful, I just could not do it at all...then again, I was rather young...I need to get the first three Spyros again...and the first three Crash Bandicoots...and Crash Bash...and Crash Team Racing.
Yes that sequence of words I just said made perfect sense.

Nein. Spies are the cheapest class in the game- if there's any class I enjoy murdering the most, it's those bloody backstabbing cowards.

Disagreed, it is the art of deception, skill and mental agility. Running up to someone, flamethrower in hand, and getting your face blown off isn't fun.

I think it takes the more skill than any other class.
