Pepsi and his DSL robots
« on: February 10, 2015, 02:05:11 AM »
So this is my DSL 2.1 showcase.
Don't play this mode much as I'm super used to Square Extenders but w/e.
First off is an Idea for Battlebots X

Its name is CRIKEY!, 798.0 kg, normal npcs
back tail acts as a scrimech/stabiliser.
two versions.
One were its mouth starts like in the top right, goes back at the same angle of top middle and comes down, acting as a clamp, other is opposite, acting as an axe.

I like the first way better but the second is more effective.

this may seem dumb but we're not allowed crusher motors for battlebots x are we?

You could send in two variants. Massimo allows interchangeable weapons. but id personally skip the hassle and just send in the clamp version. Last time a clamp, Captain Grabbermore managed to do quite well

EDIT: in DSL 2.1 black batteries are terrible. Spinning motors need only one ant per motor to last a minute, so I'd suggest having 4-8 ants i there while using battle packs to juice up the bursts

Also, the wedge is kinda bothersome to me. If you want to keep it and have it resemble a crocodile, I'd attach some spike strips on the wedge or something else creative.

It's alright, mouth opens a bit wide and the teeth look a bit odd to me.
Meh. Maybe i'm just being pedantic. Nice paint job though.

Small black batteries = very bad for power, do not use them.

Ant batteries = very good for power, you need 3 or 5 ants.

Actually for that robot you'd need seven plus however many ants the judge burst needs. I'm not certain how many that is.

Use reds instead of blacks when powering burst motors like those. On the wedge, you don't need the multi-extender. And imo, clamp would be cooler. I like the skin too, btw

So I took pretty much everyone's advice and I improved CRIKEY!
He ways 799.7 kg now and is much more effective.
'Tail' acts more of a flipper now

I also however have a sort of Joke Bot which was going to be my actual entry but looking back I'm glad I decided against it.
It's name is Toe Nee Abb Ott

Sorry if the bottom offends anyone, It doesn't actually say the word but, you know
180ish degree axe
extremely unstable
798.3 kg

This is The Walker Dead, my first successful attempt at a walker.
1199.7 kg, moves at an alright speed imo.
Does damage when other robots attack it with the beater bar legs.
Those are just Mag Motors.
Might be my HW or SHW if I upgrade it for BB X. Just imagine AMC and Soylent Green Ads.
And Yes I know the name is extremely Tacky.

Quick Question, if you look at the pic at the top right you would notice the hammer is going through the the Snow Plow, is that legal in IRL?

That probably would be considered IRL since you can cut a slot the plow.

Edit: Oh yeah, can you show a vid on how it works? I'd love to see it walk.

I don't think it's possible to AI that. Looks cool though.

Someone's attempting walkers?! I'm all ears! (mostly eyes actually)

It's definitely a curious walking motion but if you stacked another burst motor on each leg you could achieve a more legit walk. You'd require some patience to synchronize all 12 burst motors though
