wanted to try a beetleweight vs. apparently you can't spin those little armor plates vertically, they're terribly unbalanced. this robot can not sit on two wheels for more than a second after the weapon comes on. it's a damned shame. i think he's pretty

ill build something that works as intended some day

thanks yall!!!

i appreciate the feedback :)

one of my professors gave me credit for a question on an audio exam for writing in that line for an answer. didn't work as well on the finals :/
i like q-tip a lot so i'll have to check that out. ive remixed a couple of his songs before into some mash-ups but i probably don't have them anymore

anyways im still on a flipper kick and this time i went for a lightweight and this is what i've got. went with the burst motor reccomended here but im still incapable of flipping a damned thing. im guessing my flipper arm is still too big? cause that blows if that were really the case. most of the fun in building a flipper is building a wonderful looking arm!

(Image removed from quote.)

ah well. has trouble flipping most things in it's weightclass. this is the wrong way
quoted for page three since i know i dont go backwards on pages all that often and i wouldnt blame any of you for doing the same

Not a bad beetleweight form the looks of it. Could you try making it an HS?

Have you pressed f12 and checked to see if all the weapon meshes are where they're supposed to be? Sounds like your weapon is AGoDed.

i guess so but horizontal spinners typically bore me. maybe i'll angle it or something though /shrug

AGOD = Axle Glitch of Death. Basically it's some annoying thing with the Havok engine that ****s up spinners. Screws up the collision mesh of weapons and unbalances them. If they are out of place, you're left with few options but to rebuild the bot from scratch. Some people have been able to fix AGoD before but it's really finicky.

huh thats really weird and interesting. does anyone know what causes it? like maybe axle glitching one too many times or something while you're building? i dont think i had but i did have to rotate the spinner to get the last two bars on and that coulda thrown it out of whack.

does the sheild-as-spinner thing usually work out in such a negative fashion? if not then you're probably right, i'm all agoded out the mother-****.

agod generally happens when you have axles on axles.

or when you are building wedges, for some reason.

well i went on a full body spinner kick today

the beetle could be more effective but i wanted a full shell on it. there's another iteration that has better weaponry and less panels. all of the spinners use the same chassis and layout for the most part asides from the middleweight which i skirted a ztek into place for the weapon. the middleweight spends a lot of time upside down but it's never out and can self right after some time

there's also some other ants and beetles in there iirc, not sure how many i've posted. as per usual, nothing incredibly good or effective. but most of them look alright, and i build mostly for looks anyways

enjoy!

going through all the 'enter bot name' robots in my botlabs with no picture attached i found the building blocks for this guy who left unbuilt when i realized i couldnt get the disk i wanted to intersect the chassis. found that the silver disk will, though... so i finished him up. im actually a little impressed with this guy. i just wish i could drive him in a straight line a little bit easier

my first dsl vertical spinner, i present to you: dopesick midnight

i have to remember to make dopesick one word in my bot lab. its just more aesthetically pleasing to me that way

I think you're ready for NAR AI. I think Naryar's got a download link in his description, so if you're ready to take it to the next level, give it a download.

EDIT: Turns out I can't find it anywhere - what happened? Did it get removed or something?

Aah well - from the looks of your latest bot, you look like you might be becoming an IRL builder rather than a DSL-efficient one. Not that there's any problem with that, it's just that there isn't an AI pack for Realistic DSL, last I checked.

haha i can't get through a tournament with the default dsl ai, i can't begin to imagine what kind of hell awaits me in nar ai. dopesick fairs pretty well for a middleweight though, i've been impressed with what i can pull off with this lanky beast

is there somewhere i can see some screengrabs of what ill be up against?

and yeah i much prefer realistic building. especially considering i don't know all the glitchy crazy tricks yall do. i can burst/skirt mount, axle load, and stack batteries/whatnot... that's about all i've got up my sleeve. seeing how many tribars i can load onto a 2cm box isn't exactly my style. hence why i do most of my building in dsl nowadays anyways

muchos gracias that you think i'd even stand a chance, though!

here you go

hole is an undercutting disk. i wanted to try and get one of those big ass motors on a middleweight. i managed it but it was so lightly armored that it more than likely wouldnt have lasted very long in battle were it even stable at all at full speed. im finding that its pretty hard to get a balanced spinner out of a bot using the skirt hinge to hold the weapons motor in place unfortunately. i dont have enough weight or room in there to use a burst but the weapon being so low and fast regardless it likely wouldnt make a difference what i used to hold it in place. it's just not going to do.

the version i've posted was after forfeiting weight management and just seeing what i could do about balance and testing out other potential weapons and disks. it was the last iteration before i closed it and moved on to a new idea. it wasnt going to work no matter what and i didn't feel like trying other motors after everything i'd done with it, it wouldnt please me aesthetically with any other motor anyways... let alone function

first attempt at a realistic skin using ms paint. i hate it and i didn't remember to find a name for the bot somewhere on it. i think most of the reason i don't like it is the color, but the wedge tip doesnt line up on the sides proper either. groan. ive got to find a way to sneak photoshop onto this computer

the back and underside is lexan pulled from a photo of killerhurtz, the red is pulled from another robot. tried to do the edges custom with an authentic worn look by lining up the edges i pulled from the bots and meticulously pixel-by-pixel'd it together (the original photo was angled funny), but i guess it was -just- off because they werent visible at all and i ended up using the bot-lab edges as subtlely as i could. covered it all up with crud because nothing really vibe'd right. ive wasted too much time on this tonight so im going to try another bot tomorrow. something easier, a box maybe. there wasn't much chassis to begin with let alone play with on this one. i know i can do far better, ms paint be damned :armsakimbo:
