GF93's DSL Scrapyard
« on: June 22, 2010, 11:36:04 AM »
Well, like my other stock showcase (Which REALLY needs updating), here is where I will post stuff related to DSL, and you guys comment whether it's good or not. Here we go...

This is a relatively realistic drum spinner I cobbled up in an afternoon. It's called Maximus, and it's a heavyweight, with 5mm Plastic Armour.

And there's an inside view. It's quite well-protected around the sides, and its drum is low enough to connect with almost all wedges from the front, and its invertability helps to provide a nice anti-flipper/popup attack strategy. Also, I didn't feel like painting it at the time, so I'll leave the paintjob to whoever's remaking it in BTTB2. Comments?

Seems alright, looks cool anyway.
Use a few ant batteries instead of the oranges - 1 for each spin motor in general (and I like to have 1 or 2 extra just in case)
Use the multi-extenders (black and red) instead of baseplate anchors - so much lighter XD
And of course those changes mean you can reduce chassis size
Then improve armour, maybe adding some half-sheets on the bottom :D

Shrink Da Chassis, especially at the back.
EDIT: Too slow
Better than GK since 2009.

OK Craaig. But how do I apply sheets on the bottom?

Use the central attach point on one side of the halfsheet, attach like a caster. Your chassis may be too low though.

I'll give it a try anyway, though. Thanks for the tip  :approve:

Yeah, there's a weird looking attachment point you can click, it looks kinda flat-ish and round, in the middle of the half-sheet. Use that one :P

Only needs 5-6 ants. And use multi extenders instead of baseplate anchors. But not bad.

Drums need wedges IMO and everything mentioned above.

I really like the look of that bot. Quite similar to Valid Query 2, I think. =P

First thing, replace the Baseplate Anchors with Extra Small Multi Extenders, but make sure you get the right side of them (One of the connection points is screwed up), probably don't need as much batteries, but I'm rubbish at DSL power consumption and such...and shrink the chassis as well. You could probably stick the two orange batteries side by side in the middle and lop a good few kilograms off the back of the bot.

Also, the extenders attached to the outside drums are pointless.

I just put them in there to complement the looks. An afterthought if you will  = P

Well, I haven't updated this in ages, so I think that's a sign that it's time for a new robot.

Here, we have a shot of the GREAT WHITE, a species of the Vertical Spinner genus. It mostly resides in the temperate waters of GoldenFox93's Robot Workshop.

The anatomical details of the beast are scarce, but sufficient to sustain the Great White's weaponry, a dangerous set of rotary 60kg hammers on Perms, for periods of time long enough for it to catch and dismember its prey.

The arenas of Robot Arena 2 are also an excellent hunting ground for the Great White. It feeds primarily on the DSL AI, but enjoys nothing more than taking on prey much larger than itself, having downed a Wrecktangle as we speak.

The Great White also enjoys preying on Razers. Its hammers are very well-developed for cracking open their hard shell to get to the tender flesh beneath.

I know, but any tips on how to improve it? Its armour is 1mm Titanium.

Then it has better armor than Mako. Use smaller wheels (like grannies or tornadoes).

Is it? Funny thing is, I actually focussed primarily on the power of Great White's hammers, so if what you say is true, then it'll be superior to Mako in both attacking power and armour. And if I can just perfect the wedges, it should be quite a force to be reckoned with.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Mako has Plastic 1. Then again, Mako has a huuuge chassis...

Hey GF93, are you planning on entering CC4?

Not at the moment, because at this precise moment, I have absolutely no idea on what to potentially turn a cube into.

But then again, I might research previous competitors, then work my way up from there. I've got a good idea for theming.
