its obeying the laws of physics correctly, it just has a big ass powerful motor to spin it.

Angled wheel setup like that drastically reduces speed.

It looks like you're trying to protect the motors, bigger disk with less drive or make the motors properly angled, and risk it.

I have little experience in flail weapons (notably because they are teh ghey), but i am guessing horizontal ones are best and vertical ones doesn't improve damage at all.

I have experimented with vertical flails before, and though I belive horizontal ones seem to be all around better, vertical flails tend to destroy wedged bots easier.
