What's the best RA2 Version for IRL-building?

After browsing the downloads section and the modifications and designs subforum, I can't really tell which RA2 version I should get for proper IRL-stylish building and AI bots.

What I know is that DSL 2.2 isn't that different to DSL 2.1 and the Robot Wars AI mod lacks ability to build your own bot

What about DSL 3.0? What do you guys recommend for me? I'd like to have some information since I feel like starting to build again.

Ps. Robot Arena 2 v1.4 lacks components but at least it has IRL AI bots.

DSL 3.0 is no more, it has been replaced by 2.2, which is newer than 3.0

It's between Ironforge and DSL. Mess around with both, I think IF is easier to work with but DSL gives you a lot more choices and options to make your bot looks good.

IF isn't really gonna help you in that area either. As much as I love IF, I think DSL2.1 might be your best bet here if you're looking to make/fight vs replicas.


Or you could make your own replica/IRL pack, I think it would be greatly appreciated here!

Yeah IronForge looks like a hardcore version of basic DSL 2.1 with more heavy weapons and such.

Making own Replica/IRL pack would take a lot of time and effort, so that isn't going to happen anywhere near future.

flippers and axes are very powerful in ironforge, esp flippers, go try it out.
also most of the AI that comes with ironforge is IRL

That's true actually,  about half the stock bots are IRL.

All motors are powerful for their weight in ironforge, flippers and VS punters are aided by the fact that the bots weigh half as much as normal. Large chassis and use of balasts may be needed to make a bit stable, but that's not an issue for IRL.

it's possible to make a stronk IRL robot in ironforge. some of the stronger drive motors are decently compact, and types of wheels have variable widths allowing you to get decent grip out of small radius wheels.

I gotta go with classic DSL 2.1. Tons of components at your disposal, battery system is broken so all you need is a couple of ants, no shame about any BFE.
