TBH, I don't consider Nar AI as DSL, so in my view, you don't build DSL anymore. I just put you on there 'cause I know you're too good at DSL to leave off.

As a bit of a relevant side note, I compare your building to candy. It looks good and all the kiddies come running when they see it (hence, vote-based contest victories), but it's not like really a good steak (here: top-tier building) in the sense that, while it may taste good it lacks much substance. It's still popular with the kids, but IMO builders who can craft "steak" are more skilled.

I did put JoeBlo as one of the top builders, less for overall combat effectiveness, but more in terms of the ingenuity of the design of most of his bots. Things like Dimension and Blitzkreig in BOTM, and Focus Fire in TA. It's better than sticking to popups and flail spinners all the time.

I wouldn't say they're complaints. Complaining implies that it's causing me grief when they're not...

Also, now is the time to debate BECAUSE it's done. Now that we have a general consensus of what the community feels, we can debate and discuss who was left off, who was ranked suprisingly high, who got snubbed, who may be on the next one, etc.

There is always a point to debating!

Setting 'Top Bot Builders' categories aside for a moment, while it's true that I do a lot of background facilitating, Joe has done a lot of overt work to help out the community.  Top Contributor is broad and generic; Top DSL builder is very specific. Perhaps we need to adjust our taxonomy to more specific contributions, such as 'Top': Tourney Facilitator, General Assistance, Tech Assistance, Newb Helper, Innovative Bot builder, Innovative Coder, Innovative Thinker(Forum input), Wiki Worker,...
 
Facilitating stuff is very time consuming,... for me at least.  I'll confess that the last 2-3 tourneys I entered, Sage was nice enough to build a bot for me, cause I just couldn't do it and all the arena work too (though I probably AI.py-ed it). Mucho thanks to Sage.
 
CB, usually runs BBEANS, builds an arena, and enters a bot too...    The amount of effort here is not appreciated, IMHO.  Sure he's not online at GTM as much as the rest of us, but he's still working in the background.  Order doesn't happen by itself...(magic). 
 
What I'm saying is that the 'Top Contributor' category utilizes an 'Iceberg Assessment' dynamic, which is not very objective/accurate.  More specific categories may help this problem...

I have to agree there, its a nice idea but we had trouble just getting people to vote top 10 previously

its all just public opinions though, doesnt actually make you the worlds greatest builder or contributor.

Most tournaments, excepted for the no bracket ones, do involve a healthy amount of luck so not really.

I would actually have to disagree with you there, Joe, and side with Naryar on this one. For instance, you built Focus Fire for Total Annihilation, which I would argue was the best built bot there, it was probably more creative than most others, and it did win the Best Design award. Whereas VQ2 kinda stayed out of the way of flippers and popups, and managed to survive more than destroy opponents, and ended up winning the whole thing. And in the Second round of the final, it was literally only a second away from being eliminated. Luck does play a part in most tournaments, just ask Rampant Puppy Love.
