Im sorry, but who is TDS?
aka dastompa, that guy who spammed the forum (au) full of goatse way back, but hopefully hes not going to do that to gtm..... (right ?)

Yeah actually someone replaced my signature with that after I had left the forums for the most part and the new owner dude was too stupid to just remove the signature.

Anyways fast npc's seem to do the job but are still a little uncontrolable explodey with techno wheels, meeeeh.

TDS hasn't really been around since before AceUplink went away. There aren't all that many active people left from the AU/RA2 forums days.

Wow, you're from a while back. You got a lengthy wiki page that's how I know.

Welcome back.  Pretty awesome to see a vet come back and get dirty with the game immediately.  Looking forward to a showcase of some sort.

If you're finding it too uncontrollable, try some slightly less grippy wheels, or less motors if you have more than 2. A certain championship winning rammer had only 2 pairs of NPC Fasts, and Technos I believe.. Will never forgive that thing, NFX -_- :P
But yeah, check out what everyone else is up to in the showcases to see if that helps at all, I imagine it'd help get you back up to speed - and on that note, welcome back :)

For those of you who don't know TDS is, he was admin on aceuplink.com and made Ubermod which never got released (probably because I was the worst beta tester ever)
He wanted to make a pack for realism and you know me!
It was a very good pack and a very good idea and lots of parts ended up in DSL!

To TDS:
Ubermod 3.1 in in downloads .... I have the original too.

That's always been in the AI Packs section.. dunno if that's what you're on about.

Yep, that's it, I thought I lost it ..... looked for an hour and found it just before I posted.

Anyway, TDS and the AU guys put a lot into DSL.

He wanted to make a pack for realism and you know me!

It was mostly designed to reign in the stupidity of having 4+ spinners on one chasis and stacking as much nonsense on one tiny chasis as possible.  To do it right you had to crank up the power and electricity draw of motors, turn the power/draw way down on drive motors (and wheel traction way up to compensate)

DSL seems to be sort of the direction i was going in, with two annoyances.

1. tiny weapon heads do more damage than big ones, which brings you back to spamming tiny parts.  I see how he tried to balance it with bigger weapons doing less damage (im guessing because they cover a bigger area so they are easier to hit with) and have more HP per point of weight.  I just dont like it, losing one big weaponhead wrecks your life, little ones don't, do more damage (and even more since they are small and light you can have many of them

2. They were lazy and didn't combine similiar part types into submenu's, pretty much the only ones in menu's are the ones that I did, lol.  IIRC though if you put them into menu's they go into single component files which means you'd have to redo ALL The ai bots, so I guess that is allright.

Clickbeetle is trying to get everything balanced better for DSL 3.0. He is even adding a friction coefficient to effect robots that are dependent wedges, which would include most in DSL, and other robots that have parts dragging on the arena floor.

I suggest checking out the DSL3 thread in Modifications and Designs. There is going to be a lot of differences in DSL 3.0, according to Clickbeetle. He may even let you help, if you'd like.
