The founders of Battlebots would not think that.  Battlebots started in 1999, but the first Robot Wars started in 1994 in the United States.  The two founders of Battlebots, Greg Munson and Trey Roski were competiors in the all but the "original" Robot Wars USA's first season.  They certainly would not have seen the compeition as the poster ACAMS posted (which was probaly just for publicity to draw specators).  

The reason why Robot Wars moved to England and why Battlebots was started is too complex for to write off the top of my head, so I recommend visting Team Nightmare's website for that info.  Or you could watch some of the fights from that time on youtube.  .

I've seen that pic before, but it wasn't colored. Oh, and there's some sort of Ginsu rep in the backround.
