How happy were you. . .let EMERGENCY know who it's daddy was?
« on: November 15, 2010, 07:28:38 AM »
Now I know most of you folks are all elite now and hardly play stock, but do you remember EMERGENCY?

That bot nearly put me in a straitjacket, as it was like a magnet stuck to yo uand just repeatedly tossed you across the arena. I eventually built a bot for the sole purpose of beating the sh!t out of it. It was just a big purple square, with 6 wheel drive and not one, but TWO spiked-club hammers driven by burst motors, and it had a formidable array of spikes across the front. I christened it, "Tough Proposition". I would have made it even larger but I reached the games weight limit. I managed to get that blasted EMERGENCY in it's side and drove it into a wall, and then proceeded to beat the daylights out of it. It got away, and came at me with those dreaded flippers but, by a stroke of luck, I managed to drive into it head-on and trapped it's flippers in the upwards position. Then I let my hammers loose again and gleefully watched as I smashed it's flippers off. I was so happy that it was quite frightening and almost disturbing.

I beat it with a spiked flipper thing.
It beat me once because I accidently made that thing a HW with top armour that stopped it being invertible and it flipped me over.
So I made the wheels bigger and beat in exhibition.

First time i won against EMERGENCY you said ?

Oh, probably by points despite being manhandled the whole match. Because despite not knowing what a wedge was at the time, I had moar weapons.

I first defeated it with a bot that used 4 battle axes on DDTs all of them overhead hitting, the sidemost ones were tunred inwards alittle so they all hit around the same area, creatively named Woodcutter from heck, all in caps ofcourse and the lava paintjob.

I think I first defeated EMERGENCY with my second ever bot, Kraze. Turns out I discovered the Chicken glitch by accident, I had two HP Z-Tek "drills" on the front and back, and 4 HP Z-Teks for drive as well, so it was fast as heck, and I just drove around the side and drilled his wheels until they fell off.

Pretty much the same for me; in my case it was an incredibly unstable spinner that I had tried to base off Tornado (the stock AI middleweight)  All the weapons came off and I got tossed around, but in the end I scraped by on points.

Also, you should change the topic title to have EMERGENCY in its name.  This is an important thread, people should know what it's all about.

I actually first beat it with a middleweight flipper in the Octagon Arena. Drove around its side, turned it on its side, and then pushed it over so that it landed on its back. Once I did that, I pushed it under a hammer, and once it was in the red, pushed it into the opening pit.

T'was back then, my RA2 CMOA, or at least in my opinion. Next to breaking Tornado's hammers for the first time.

I remember driving around it with a modded Forkie and flipping it, then pushing it into the wall. I was laughing as to how it was dumb that EMERGENCY had no srimech.

Also I remember not realizing the game had AI until a week after I got the game. :P

Tournament Record: 94 Wins - 50 Losses
Challenge Record: 2 Wins - 2 Losses

I beat Emergency by throwing it out of the RW arena I downloaded for my stock with a very good replica of  a flipper bot(don't remeber who it was). After that I shot Revenge, Big Dog and Sentinel also OOTA.

I had a set team of 6 bots that I used for the in-game tournaments. Those were the days, cuz there was strategy and everything going into this. There were a couple VSs, Atomic (first showcased bot for me), and a couple HS.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

I never had any trouble beating EMERGENCY... it was annoying and it dominated the match, but I never had any trouble winning.  Is that unusual?

Now Tornado, on the other hand... I used to consider a MW bot good if it could "sometimes beat Tornado"  :gawe:   That was like the standard that I tried to achieve with all my MW's.

Dude, how you got that right, I do not know. EMERGENCY drove me up the wall. My first bot was pretty awesome for a beginner, a wedge with a powerful axe. Beat everything relatively easily. But that darn EMERGENCY. . .

Yes Tornado deserves a mention too. Quite a vicious thing. I can only beat it with a wedge flipper. I built something similar to the real-life Cassius from Robot Wars. A wedge with two burst motors firing forwards.
