infiniteinertia.....do you want to do the next BOTM, I mean all rules and voting criteria?

HA this is so ironic. Only inf understands why though.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

Wait why can't people vote base on looks for BOTM when we can do that during the presidential election?  Shouldn't people at least have to freedom to vote without getting banned?

wow I thin I missed something ???

Inf has been fairly nice to me through pm's and the such so I am not going to take sides in this but I will say...

I do think everyone (well not so much everyone) but take a step back, throw your lust for being the best and winning everything out the window and have fun, it is what games are all about. dont let others get on your nerves so much, just except people for who they are...

you dont have to like everything that everyone else likes, otherwise we wouldn't be unique in this world and at the same time everyone else doesn't have to like everything you like.. so there isnt a need to force beliefs on them

everyone can do there own thing and your entitled to your opinions about it but there is a difference between opinion and insult

thank you for your time

I feel like I've gone over this before, but the thread where I posted my rant on this seems to have been deleted (or I just can't find it). Anyways, here's what I think:

To me, many people here seem to be jumping on the "I-hate-InfiniteInertia" bandwagon because, realize it or not, it's cool to hate Inf. It's not. Before I hear all of the "but he flamed mee," and "he said i wus stuupidz" there's one thing that you guys (a good 99% of you) need to learn: you are not just given respect, it is something that you need to earn. Around here, that means becoming an excellent builder and making contributions to the community, as well as posting in a polite, orderly manner. Under these criteria, I think that InfiniteInertia deserves much more respect that he has got the past little while. He is one of the top builders that we have around here, and he has designed bots for SCv4.0, released a re-vamped version of stock (Re-Stocked), is working on a second AI pack, and has nearly finished hosting a tournament (Brawl of the Builders).

I can see what you're thinking now, and yes, I agree. He's a troll most of the time. I also think that he dosen't mean or want to be. "Blunt" and "direct" are probably the best words for this, but think of it this way: the words that human beings use to communicate account for a mere 6% of our impressions of what is said. The other 94% is stuff like speed, tone, body language, etc. To you reading this right now, I might sound angry or even defensive. I'm not, and I can't help what your impressions are of this. Really, I'm just trying to help all of you guys, but that probably wasn't what you thought I was doing. Being blunt and direct works in real life, but not over the internet. Many times, it sounds agressive and accusatory based on many things (attitude towards the poster, content of the post, topic being discussed, etc.). With all this in mind, it's not that hard to imagine this situation: Inf posts in a thread, someone misses the point and retaliates (retaliation is almost always an obvious personal attack), and Inf, seeing the retalitory post, can't figure out why someone's flaming him and fires back.

If you don't believe me, the next time someone posts something that sounds like it's a flame at you, don't post right away. Do two things: 1) Try to think what else they could mean by it. Read it in different tones, and see if any others could work. 2) DO NOT RETALIATE. It's the retaliation that starts the flame war, not the provoker. A simple "I'm not sure I follow you, could you please explain?" will work 500% better than a retalitory comment.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is that the people that are on the "we-hate-Inf" bandwagon are at just as much fault, if not more, than he is. You can never expect someone to respect you unless you respect them first, so don't count on anyone to be nice to you. You can only control what you say and how you come across to others, so make it good. No one's going to hold your hand on the internet.

A couple of last bits of advice: Inf haters, just stop it now. It's just stupid to hold a vendetta over the internet. And to Inf, being "blunt" and "direct" dosen't work well over the internet. Consider how people might take it before you post.

I feel like I'm a damn kindergarten teacher here...

Also, Inf, This Isn't a Nazi forum, and Only people who are great peacekeepers and great contribiters would probably be admins, So I can only see Urjee, joe and Pwnator as possible mods ATM.

However, I do feel we should have an extra forum for all you veterans here! :P

Rankings shouldn't mean a thing. I'm an ANTWEIGHT because I'm new to the forum. Inf, you don't know how long forum noobs have been playing RA2.  I've been playing since '04 but I only found this forum recently.

Basically, I think everyone should calm down.

Some people are newer than others, some people are better at building than others, some people are a lot more annoying than others, but we are a commUNITY. We are, almost, as one, in our shared interest/passion for bot bulding and this game.

Honestly this seems a bit arrogant to me. you flame and insult and then ask for praise and a position of power. You have been in the forums for a long time. You are one of the greatest builders. You ARE respected (look at your masterpieces thread), and I completely agree that there needs to be SOME sort of restrictions on newer members for.

I don't hate you.
You really aren't my favorite though.

But I do respect you and you probably should have SOMETHING more than the rest of the forums for your contributions.

this is the LAST robot arena 2 community left do we really want what we have ruined by fighting ? just think of what is actually at stake here ? if everyone starts hating one another and all leave there will no longer be things like...

DSL 3
Restocked
Nar AI
not to mention all the tournaments on here

face it we cant afford to loose it all from fighting with each other, we all need to put aside our differences, as I said before everyone is entitled to opinions but there is a difference between opinions and insulting someone. going "off your face" at somebody is really childish, face it your basically throwing a tantrum like the 2 year old at "toys are us" and I think 99% of people on here are better then that :-D

so lets work together and make it a happy environment for everyone to enjoy as that is what most people come on here for... enjoyment

:-D
