I suspect the wheels collicion is hitting a part of the opponent upside-down,Then you get that.

care to explain that theory in more detail ?

is a small bug in the game that occurs with some robots on slops with a small gradient sometimes get a bit of a reverse control action, Codebreaker did it a lot

Translation: The top of the wheels are touching the bottom of the other bot.  You try to drive, the wheels get traction on the other bot and your controls go wonky.
