A bit of an idea (Involving IRL robots and things)
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:51:37 PM »
Whilst testing some IRL prototypes recently, I had a bit of a thought. I know it's going to sound ridiculous coming from me, but hear me out- what if there was a DSL mod similar to NAR AI, except dedicated to purely IRL designs?

With the more overpowered and unrealistic standard DSL designs out of the way for once, and with people potentially submitting all sorts of different designs for IRL robots (and maybe other things as well) provided it gets off the ground, I could imagine it being a good mod for building and playing with more realistic designs, and a great means of taking both old and new members back to where it all began in RA2.

Not so sure about what to do with the replicas though- they could either be removed, or maybe kept in but grouped together in secondary teams, modified to be more legal to the game, and with the scrapped components removed to improve running performance.

I know it sounds crazy, but do let me know what you think.

i'd submit a team this is original
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

I only make IRL style robots anyways, as I hate the unrealistic style ones. I highly support this idea and wish you and anyone who participates, good luck.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd be more than happy to submit robots for this.

If you and a couple of others are dedicated to making the AI Pack I see no reason why you shouldn't make it. More variety is hardly ever a bad thing.

This has already been suggested... and went down.

Realism Ai was full of custom parts and was honestly sort of a letdown. This is supposed to be NAR AI for IRL.

Not talking about Stag's work. Craaig suggested roughly the same thing, heck it's still here on the front page : https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,9706.0.html

well sorry. There have been at least 3234738293492376765923 different proclamations for an IRL AI pack. I was just going to finally coordinate all of it.

Well, we'll need to have it organized. We should come up together with a list of robots that we will make (say 1, 2 teams or a set of 3 bots, or even 1 individual bot). We can create them ourselves and submit them to whoever will be our leader.

That poses a problem, though. With too many people working on the project, a number of people will want to be leader. We could probably have up to 2 people working together as leader, but no more, as timing would get erratic and spontaneous. We will need someone who is a strong leader, team player, well-spoken, and dedicated enough to start and finish the project.

Electing yourself as the single person in control doesn't exactly scream teamwork... just sayin'

Not saying you can't do this solo, but as a counter argument to my post, it doesn't make all that much sence..

Me :P

I'll go and start a thread to get a list of builders together, OK?
