The papercraft thread kinda died so I'm posting this here. The GTD Galatea!

If you don't know what that's from you need a whipping with the oldschool stick.

The hanger actually has an inside, you can see what's in it if you use a flashlight.

I guess I need a whipping from the oldschool stick... I don't know what that's from.  But it looks really cool.  How long did that take to make?  And did you make all the graphics yourself?

I'm taking a class in scientific illustration right now, so I get to do drawings of bugs. :gawe:   Here's one of Pyrophorus texanus, aka a fire beetle (which, fun fact, is a type of click beetle).  More to come eventually.

I'm an art major and I hardly have anything in this thread! I need to fix that. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow or something.

Also, great work on that Click. Very symmetrical.

That we're brothers?

Might be one reason why FB doesn't use the name Firebeetle anymore though.  (In other places, not here.)

Plus, when i see "firebeetle" i think more of Lampyridae beetles rather than Elateridae.

And very nice drawing click ! I don't see much of click beetles (that are basically beetles with srimechs) here in France, and even less insects here at university apart from flies :P

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I usually think of elaterids as more of beetles with rupters. :P

Maybe it's because of

this ?

As a future entomologist i have some knowledge of beetles, however I never saw any beetle self-right with a specialised srimech.

I do think still that elaterids don't make quintuple saltos when self-righting :P

Actually, I didn't even know a thing about rupters back then when I saw a vid of the clicking mechanism. :P

Lampyrids are more commonly called fireflies (even though they are not flies, not even close).  I've only heard fire beetle used in reference to the glowing click beetles.

And you are studying to be an entomologist?  I didn't know that.  That makes two of us here!

Well, I watched the video and I was wrong. Clickbeetles somehow rupt, actually.

Ah, so the fire beetle genus is bioluminescent... i thought it was just red spots.

And yes. Sorta. Well, I started biology in university for insects (I'm interested by most arthropods in general), but right now my studies are off-topic...

Really rough sketch I did that I actually ended up having to submit for my AP Art portfolio... Could be part of the reason I didn't get AP credit. There's actually a lot of symbolism in this one in regards to the relationship between the car and the location, I'll leave you to divulge that meaning.

More to come.
