depends what art classes you take ?

I took an advanced art class but the only thing they wanted to do was Cubism... with no freedom to at least choose a subject matter  put me off hand art for the rest of the year.

the worst part is a lot of the marks weighting came from written reports on deceased artists not the artwork we drew

yet now I am doing about 4 a week within relationship to graphic design which is pretty cool

How does "better" look like to you?  Do you want to go 3d (computer graphics)?  In color (painting)?  Or illustration (drawing)?

I think being exposed to painting might be more valuable than an illustration class.  Aside from the use of colors, it also deals with tonality and strokes, which are both very important in illustrations.  As Joe mention, do check up on the course and the instructor's teaching style before you take it.  Also if you do decide to take an painting course, check the medium.  Oil paints can get quite expensive, while acrylic is much more affordable.

I'm more of a B&W pencil guy. But I might enjoy it, I don't know.

the best way would be to find out how the class is run and what is involved... you will learn some cool stuff in those classes but you dont really output great work if you dislike the area your in...

Problem is that everyone starts off with pencil nowadays, just because it is the most available.  While some eventually go off into other mediums, others not.  However, it is important to experiment in art, as the comfort zone offers nothing but dead ends.

For some reason it reminds me of Chris Metzen's drawings in the Warcraft 2 manual.

Wow Bloodwyrm. Very nice work. Your drawing style kinda reminds me of Hans Steinbach's (leaning a bit more toward realism than Hans though).  The candle smoke trails are a bit long though... kinda distracting to the whole piece.  Overall it is well done indeed!

I am tempted to say something about the anatomy.  But it's a general rule to not redline anything unless the author specifically allow C&C.
