Kilts were an Irish invention, IIRC. And Kilts were actually outlawed during the Jacobite rebellion. Some people wear kilts for formal occasions such as weddings and the like.

Yeah I remember that they wear kilts because they're supposed to be a symbol against oppression (probably the jacobite rebelion then according to NFX)

Personally though, I think the scottish guys wear them because they like to think they're girls

Anyways, I would not bother wearing a long robe. Pretty sure it's less annoying than trousers.

Structurally they share something. If you cut a long robe at the waist and upper leg, you get a kilt.

How near to Scotland do you live? If it's further than Carlisle, then the Scots do not affect you.

Quite possibly. Carlisle seems to be more affected by Scots than Geordies.

I'd actually argue against that, it's kind of the same, there's alot of geordies who come here and also a lot of scots.
