OUCH!
« on: March 10, 2009, 10:00:46 PM »
I HURT!!

I went and sighted in my 30-06 and 45-70 today. Me and a friend (luckily he weighs 310) shot 2 boxes of 30-06 and 3/4 box of 45-70 a box of 45 auto and a box of 9mm (he liked my 9mm so much he went and bought one) ANYWAY the 30-06 with 150 gr bullet kicked so hard it hurt me after about 10 rounds, so he shot it more till we got it dead on at 100 yds.
The 45-70 was pretty dead on after my 3rd shot with Winchester Super X 300 gr bullet.

Here is the ouch....double super ouch.......I bought a box of Hornaday 325 gr HIGH POWER 45-70 (325gr 2080fps) and shot it ONE TIME.......I WILL NEVER shoot it again....my shoulder is purple and my ears are STILL ringing..........NEVER, NEVER, EVER shoot a 45-70 with LEVERevolution ammo.......http://www.hornady.com/story.php?s=198

Then imagine shooting one round TWICE that big and powerful to top it off!

You guy's quit jacking around....everybody has guns and know what we are talking about.

Here is what I was up against

Left to right: .308 Win, .30-06 Sprg, 7.62x54R, 8x57mm JS

The 30-06 was bad enough....now imagine one with TWICE the lead and enough powder to send it 300 yds @ 2080 fps........my shoulder is still swollen and purple today, and my ears are still ringing. (I have ear plugs and my dumbass didn't use them)

Well, i don't understand something: Why is the tip of the bullet flat ? Wouldn't be the penetration of the bullet on both air and flesh better if it was really pointy ?

The tip of normal 45-70 is flat so it will work in a tube feed lever action gun....if it had a sharp point and you dropped your gun the tip would set off the bullet above it in the tube.

That is the WHOLE point of the LEVERevolution ammo....it is pointy, with lots of extra powder to shoot farther. It has a flexable polymer tip to allow it to be safely used in a tube feed magazine.

Ok, I have no idea what all of that gun terminology means, but here's a funny story I found about guns that y'all might get a kick out of:

How about you go and shoot yourself with a pointy and flat tipped bullet and tell us what you find? Somehow, I think they'll both be moving too fast for you to notice any real difference...

Don't you know what PERFORMANCE TESTS are ? If it goes even 60ft longer with a pointy bullet, it will make a difference...

That's right.......obongo may be out of range if somebody uses a flat tip, or hollow point instead of a pointy bullet!

You know, even if the secret service guys were that paranoid, with the amount of crap posted on the web every minute it would be impossible to "go after" everybody that made vaguely suggestive and/or threatening statements. They can probably track it, but I bet 99.999% of stuff they just file as "harmless B.S."
