I worked on Aston Martin and Mini cars. They are actually very good. Scourge, you're making the assumption we like Aston and Ferrari for them being race cars. From being inside the cars, I have gathered Aston and Mini are good, but Ferrari I'm not really bothered by.

Also, add Lamborghini to the list.

EDIT: And Porsches are all VW Beetles. They all look the same, are all R/R, and the boxters look the same at the front as the back. No variety.

I base by appearance and performance, and rule out supercars regardless.

Frankly, I dislike cars anyway - I can just about put up with the Doblo and VW van that I have to travel around in, but I hate small cars due to claustrophobia, and would rather walk

I prefer Estate cars, as they are great in terms of size. The new Mini Countryman is actually really big, and some high-performance cars are suprisingly roomy. (The Aston Martin DBR9 GT4 isn't though. I know from - very bad - experience.)

I like some supercars because of the technological and engineering aspect of things, like - for example - the Ariel Atom. I don't really like the sort of "rocket-powered sledgehammer" approach that some of the cars designed for the US market seem to be, though. Thought you need to remember that the road network is completely different on both sides of the pond. They have 16-lane interstates and Route 66, we have un-limited Autobahns and the B969.

Rally Cars are brilliant engineering. The idea that a 1.6l engine'll kick out that much bhp is amazing. They corner like crazy, and incredible stuff goes into them. It's not just a 4x4 hatchback with gravel tyres.

Most Jaguars are pretty good. Then there was that one they designed to appeal to Americans, and - lo and behold - it was chronic.

I should point out, in rebuttal to the Unreliable Fiat theory, I've got a third-hand 13-year-old R-registered Fiat Cinquecento Sporting, it has only gone wrong once in the 10 years it's been in the family, and we didn't even need to take it to a garage to repair it.
