G.K.'s Stock Showcase
« on: December 12, 2009, 03:14:28 PM »
I thought I was terrible at stock. I am. Here is my best robot:

It has 7 HP Z-Teks. 5 for weapons, two for drive on Snapper II's. Despite the DSA, it is torn to pieces by many Starcore VS's. Help and constructive criticism gladly appreciated.

That's actually not too bad!  A few things:

I don't find ballasts useful on bots without wedges.

It's possible to not have angle connectors on this.

Your drive HPZs would perform better if the flat sides were parallel to the ground.

And you can make the chassis smaller, but at the cost of lower chassis HP.

For horizontal spinners, never attach your weapon motors directly to the baseplate (exception: Mad's ArrowHead).  It is much more space- and weight-efficient to stack your weapon motors with burst motors.

Then you can start playing around with using extenders to stack multiple weapons on the tribar ends and stuff like that.

you have the right idea with the burst motors just not the right way of executing it

use the burst motors to overlap other things, so you can shrink your chassis,

then point the burst arm towards the base plate (with the arc adjusting) then atach an extender, motor and the weapon or wheel then move the arc again to have the motor inside the battery

remember realism rules dont apply in stock

Thanks for all the help guys.

@Reier: I was using eFFeing, should I be attaching more than one mace to a tribar point?

I would disagree with that, mostly because motors are invulnerable when attached to the baseplate.

No, they are INSIDE the baseplate, unlike DSL where you can just put motors sticking out every which way and have them be invincible armor. I mean, you need like 1 iota of space to attach a NPC fast, and a piglet can go halfway out of the baseplate.

Wedge is too steep. Use Shinies or Rubbers for wheels. That's a lot of razors for 2 DDTs. Needs more battery power I think. 4wd would be better. DSA? Use 1 Black instead of 2 Reds.

There's a black in there too. It is DSA. How exactly is the wedge too steep? They are DDT wedges.

Right now your chassis wedge looks something like this:

It needs to be somewhere as shallow as this:

PitA has a steep wedge, meaning that it will be tough for bots to slide up and take damage. R4 has a shallow wedge, which is why opponents easily slide up and get 1HKO'd. :D
