Title: Ultimate Stock AI - Winner stays series: Middleweights
Post by: ianh05 on September 02, 2012, 02:57:37 AM
I felt like starting a winner stays series using the Ultimate stock AI pack, I will be going top to bottom using every MW in the pack to see which robot gets the most wins in a row. Any predictions?

So wait, it's a 1v1 round robin? Does every bot eventually end up facing every other bot?

Negative, I'm trying out a new kind of tournament where every bot battles for most wins. Each battle is a battle to face the next on the list, so every single MW in the Ultimate Stock AI pack (except a few that have weight issues for some unknown reason) will have at least 1 match.

Also I'll be uploading large videos with a lot of matches in a row, I figure this sort of tournament is best suited for 30mins+ videos so you can follow the robot your cheering for (possibly) without interruption.

Enjoy! My first ever +15min video on youtube uploaded in 720p for clearer viewing :) Sorry that there is no fancy splash work or anything but you should all know these robots by now and it would take ages to make one for every MW in the AI pack.

Results so far after part 1:

I will start recording part 2 matches now, it will include the remaining starcore MW's and most (if not all) BBEANS MW's.

I'm thinking about holding a 4 bot battle royal at the end between the bots with the longest winning streaks. Next up will be INFAI MW's and possibly Re-stocked MW's.

Gravity Well was such a troll. xD

The last match was pretty funny.

Oh, and outdated bots are outdated.

well mini karnage pretty much got a sh** ton of easy matches, not to mention it would have won even more had gravity well not been ridiculous hahahha

True it got a fair few easy matches but it also defeated the best BBEANS MW's, Flaming Whizzer, Wedge Tracker, Event Horizon 3, Rampant Puppy Love and VeXeD to name a few O.o so even without facing the easy bots it could have still got at least 15 wins in a row.

I think I'll run a 4-8 bot sudden death elimination tournament at the end with the top 4 or 8 robots, it should consist of the best robots that are good against multiple types of bots and will make for some good viewing.

Uploading a 1.36 gig video to youtube takes a fair while -.- I can confirm there will be an 8 robot tournament between the robots with the longest winning streaks. Based on the winning streaks it will be 1v8, 2v7, 3v6 and 4v5.

I don't exactly sit here and wait for hours for the videos to upload :P I just start the upload and then I go do something else :) only 6 posts in this topic aren't mine which is a little sad considering the size of the videos/tournament.

Sorry if I've never posted. I have been following this. Great works on the videos. It's been a great time killer and has saved me from boredom multiple times :laughing

In truth, I'm not particularly surprised by the final outcome.

I was just happy to see 4 different bot types in the semi's :) also it shows us some underrated robots like Robotic Bee that we don't hear about or see much.

Just started watching from round 3, I'll edit this post as I watch more. You really do have a lot of free time!

Round 3: Kritical vs. Breaker was hilarious, as was Bushido throwing a temper tantrum after it lost.
Round 4: I liked GliTched vs. PickUpStix. :D

Did not expect Da Dog or Bedlam to get in the finals, and I thought Kritical would totally beat Fury.
