Say the captain has 8 bots A-H, would he split them up like this? A+EB+FC+HD+G Then do the two bots from the same tribe fight each other one on one? Or do random groups of two from each tribe all fight in a rumble? Or a team match? Or something else? I might throw something in here even though I haven't built a regular DSL HW in ages, since you seem to be low on entries. Perhaps Mother Lode, considering it's not bad against popups and SnS/SS are banned.

The captain puts the bots in his tribe into pairs, then the pairs are randomly assigned a pair of opponents from the other tribe, and they fight in a tag team match. I think that's the general gist of it.
Once a tribe has knocked the other team out completely, they are considered the winners. I am considering everyone on the winning tribe a winner.
