Title: Throwback Throwdown - SBV

- 1 vs 1 match format
- 2 minute length matches
- Best 2 out of 3
- Double Elimination Bracket
- BBEANS V2 Tournament Arena (Reskinned)
- Judging will determined by the damage points at the end of the match
- The Top 4 ranked bots that isn't the Champion or Runner up will participate in a 4-way Rumble.

Restart Rules:
The rules about restarting the match will be a little more clear this time. More than one of the below criteria can happen and not penalize you. If once, that bot gets a Free Restart. If Twice, that bot will forfeit the match if any of the following criteria occurs:

-Havok Restart: The bot does a Havok Explosion which costs the match for it's opponent.
-Second Chance Restart: If the loss was from being pinned, (i.e. getting stuck for a reason) But I will only restart if:
A)It still has controlled movement.
B)It has enough battery life for it to actually matter.
C)The control board warning is not is on yellow or below.
If none of the above is met, then the first match will be the final result of the match.

An interesting start to this tournament.  We got DeadGenocide's partial joke bot against 090901's loophole abusing bot.  This fight has got it's moments, but it ain't an award winning match.

Not Bushido wins 2-1 with 1 WBP and 1 OOTA.  EVIL SONIC!!! gets 1 OOTA.

Holy carp.  This fight is slow.  There is nothing in this battle that I would consider watching.  I mean, there's bots fighting each other, but that's it.  You're better off skipping this one.

In HS against VS, it's HS who remain dominant, but here, Radiant Storm could attack Nuclear Arms Race before it gets to full spinning speed and attack while it's down.  This could go either way.

Pretty slow match overall.  Not the worst match ever, as it has some good moments, but they are far and few in between.  And I think we all know the victor at this point, though I have been surprised before.

Two hybrids with nearly completely different designs are going at it here.  One has the advantage on speed and the other has the advantage on trapping, which should make an interesting match.

This is a mildly entertaining match with a lot of twists and turns.  It may not be the best, but it might keep you on your toes and keep you entertained as you watch S_M's multibot take on a Shell Spinner built by Sage.

This is another kinda slow fight, but it's got some interesting things around somewhere in this match.  ERM has got some good power in it's weapon, but it can get caught around the arena from Tentacle Assault's pushing power.

This is quite an interesting battle honestly.  Flipper From The West has a major disadvantage with it's long flipper and small smartzone where it's most effective.  However, one good flip can send Radiant Storm flying.

Oh dear.  AngryKillerWhale stood no chance against Fat Fever, so things are looking worse for battledutchman as he goes up against Metal Smashin', a trapping machine.  Poor guy, this was his first tournament and not any slack whatsoever.

As Geice said earlier, this is the third time that he and Sage have gone up against each other in a recent tournament.  I guess it was meant to be.  Both bots have their advantages and will mostly come down to a wedge war here.

DeadGenocide beat one of the bots I thought would have no trouble being beaten, so the pressure is on for a razor guy run to occur with Not Bushido.  Questions is probably going to show no mercy since it is very powerful.  Can Not Bushido do it?

This would come down to a wedge war, and we all know that Nigel has the better wedges compared to Nuclear Arms Race, but if NAR can take off the motors quickly and not de-stabalize itself, it should go through.

Battle of the Moderators!  I don't think I had one in one of my tournaments yet, but unfortunately, this match is pretty boring.  I mean, it has got a lot of big hits from both bots, but literally, that is the only thing worth mentioning in this match.

This match depends on who can beat each other faster.  Otherwise, Ohm's Law might suffer from power issues and ware down late in the match, making themselves sitting ducks against ERM.  It could go either way.

Before I recorded this match, 090901 requested that I adjusted the turnspeed on his bot from 1.4 to 2.5.  I agreed, so this match will be interesting.  Maybe it will secretly make his bot better, or predictably worse.  With double trouble on S_M's bot, only time will tell if this is an improvement.

Perhaps I should elaborate on what I meant by "stable" in Fat Fever's case.  When I meant stable, I meant stable while turning.  I forgot to list that Fat Fever is also quite topheavy.  So, if Radiant Storm can take advantage of both it's speed and stability, it should have not problem with Fat Fever.

Nuclear Arms Race has a massively powerful weapon which even has a fast spin up time.  Metal Smashin' is up against it here.  It needs to hope that it can trap it fast enough for it to stop the blade before it gets ripped to shreds.

This match is another wedge war.  Normally, this match would be no contest.  But, Tentacle Attack has some wedges that aren't as good normal.  Not Bushido has all that speed, which might come in handy for this wedge war.

This match is entertaining as it is ridiculous.  Radiant Storm is fast, which EVIL SONIC can't take advantage of with it's gyroscope turning, but EVIL SONIC  has the large base to where it can juggle around anything that gets over on it's chassis.  This could go either way.

I can't recall exactly when I did this, but I did some test matches with NAR, and one of those was against Not Bushido.  Long story short, NAR wone every time.  So I would put my money towards NAR, but as this tournament has shown me so far, anything can happen.

If Nigel can beat Nuclear Arms Race, then it should have no trouble against Questions.  However,  I think Questions is a lot more dangerous with the amount of weapons it has, so Nigel would lose it's weapons faster and it could put up more of a fight because of that.

While Black Moon has four times less active weaponry than ERM, Black Moon has the defenses covered with it's ramming hammers.  So, as Long as Black Moon keeps it's defense up, it theoretically shouldn't have issues against ERM.  Otherwise... well, you know.

Radiant Storm has thus far, not lost a single round in the Loser's Bracket.  So, with the classic HS vs. VS battle, it's gonna be tough with the low amount of armor and exposed weapon motors on Radiant Storm.

It's official.  Not Bushido is having itself a razor guy run at this moment, and that is quite impressive.  However, this might be Not Bushido's toughest opponent yet.  With Black Moon's great speed and weaponry, a simple wedge war isn't going to be a prime factor in this fight.  Luckily, Not Bushido can take a hit, and can't be KO'd within 2 minutes, so, maybe it can outlast a war of attrition.

I should mention that I counted one KO as a WBP.  Well, that's becuse I accidentally forgot to switch the time from 3 minutes to 2.  And Not Bushido would've lost anyways, so I don't think I should be too picky and restart that second round.

Battle of the french members over here.  This match decides a place in the semifinal, so the stakes are high.  Both Radiant Storm and Black Moon are formidable VS'es, but maybe the weapons on Radiant Storm are too far apart to attack the weapon of Black Moon.  Who will win?

This match featured quite a number of turnarounds ans other twists.  Both bots are deadly Vertical Spinners that have the capability of beating each other down.  If Nigel can get to the exposed weapon extender holding the weapon on ERM, then ERM will be easy pickings for Nigel, otherwise, Nigel will get beaten down hard.  I feel it's worth watching to see how this ends.

I absolutely loved this match.  I had a hard time trying to find things to cut because everything made me feel I was on the edge of my seat.  It's also very tense in a lot of areas.  I won't say much more so I don't spoil anything.  Just go watch it.

These two have fought in a great semifinal before, but now is the grand final.  Both builders have something to be proud about for making it this far, but one can reign supreme in this old-school showdown.

AngryKillerWhale : ...it has stock T-extenders as a weapon rack :SFTW

Black Moon : Well, it's my robot. We'll see how it goes. It's not very oldschool to be honest, although it DOES look like a 2010-esque build from me, so a bit. I think it looks good however and a VS/ram is decently original.

Death of Angles 3 : Wasn't he previous death of angles a popup ? Anyways... I like it because it's very BBEANS2-esque (what was that bot named ? Maulinator or something ?) and it is a wedged shell spinner. The wedge actually pointing the right way remains to be seen, however. Also : it'll lose to the first spinner it meets easily, calling it now.

EAT RANDOM MUSHROOMS : It's not especially interesting... not very oldschool as well.

EVIL SONIC : Meh, re-entries. See ERM for how I feel about it. Well, it's more original than the former.

Fat Fever : Generic

Flipper from the West : I... suppose ? It's not very good or oldschool.

Metal Smashin' : Now that's a bot I like. It's Ordo Malleus with pokers which means it is both oldschool and a hybrid. Thumbs up.

Nigel : I suppose it is more interesting than the genericville entrants. Very quick. Will depend on wedges a lot. Not a lot of weapons, so it can just get tossed

Not Bushido : There are worse entrants... It is both rare (samurai sword popups aren't very common) and bland. Will depend on wedge, although it does need to be faster.

Nuclear Arms Race : For a Clickbeetle bot, it is noticeably unsophisticated. Still decent, however.

Ohm's Law : This is going to OOTA everything with incredible ease considering only about 2 bots (hint: it's the HS's) can face them with any chance of victory. So it's kinda like a crawler in a rammer tournament D:

Well, to SM's credit, the effectiveness of flipper multibots depends on the number of HS/SnS in the tourney, and he didn't had the splash before building the bot. Still...

Questions : It looks cool. Still a bit on the generic side.

Radiant Storm : Eh. It's... okay, but nothing special.

Tentacle Assault : It's a hybrid, a rarely seen bot type, and I think it's either a wammer/side hammer or something of a trapper/weaponed flipper. It's not too oldschool, but I still love it. <3

Yeah, some people should have put a bit more effort into their bots...

And now for the round 1 predictions.

Evil Sonic > Bushido : Unless bushido is actually wedgier than Shadow the Edgehog.

Nigel > FFTW : Yeah. Doubt fftw can actually get under Nigel, although it can happen.

Radiant Storm < Nuclear Arms Race : In most cases, HS > VS.

Fat Fever =/= Angry Killer Whale : Actually i kinda expect an OOTA by the newbie, considering it's a giant-ass dual perm spinner with no front/rear stabilizers VS a rammer in this arena (and it will be hilarious). However, that will depend of the speed of the rammer, and it doesn't look very fast. So it could go either way.

Metal Smashin' =/= Black Moon : This will be interesting. I have the bot type advantage and more weapon weight, while he has more armor and he can possibly attack me from the top. Will depend on wedges a lot, of course, but I am looking forward to this match. I am slightly unhappy about being either eliminated or eliminating a cool bot for the first round, but it's what happens.

Ohm's Law >>> Death of Angles 3 : Well, remember when I said " a spinner will kill this ?" I was just forgetting Ohm's Law. Anyways, DoA3 doesn't have enough bite to really stop the flippers, so it'll just go OOTA quickly.

I'm pretty happy with the bot lineup. Problem is that the flipper multibot tactic is very luck based. I think at some point my bots are going to flip each other out.

I am actually shocked that Sanic lost to Not Bushido.  I didn't rig anything, I swear.  I'm impressed that actually happened.

Multibot was a lucky fight for me, since my spinny weapon could really knock 'em around a lot.  Still, they put up a good fight.  GG S_M.

Honestly I'm surprised at EAT RANDOM MUSHROOMS' performance so far.  The thing is as fast as... something really slow.  I figured the lack of mobility would be pretty crippling.  Not expecting to go much further.

Nice work on the editing of the videos, looks really cool.

My win against flipper from the west was pretty much a given, honestly. I would've hoped it would destroy it quicker though. Winning against Click was surprising, I thought nuclear arms race would just knock Nigel over straight away and win. Excited to see how the match against questions goes, kinda hoping it spikeballs like nuclear arms race, otherwise I'm pretty much buggered

Edit: Also, I got both the Loser's Round 4 & 5 matches recorded and edited, but I'll upload those tomorrow considering how late it is over here.

Also, I will be accepting any grudge match requests for once I finish with the main tournament.  But, here are a couple rules:

1. No rematches.
2. I will only record bots that are in the main tournament, so any bots that weren't accepted or sent late, won't happen here.
3. If you do suggest "X vs. the World," then it will only have the bots that haven't fought "X" in the main tournament, and it will only be Best of 1 as opposed to best of 3.

Pretty good run so far. Don't think I have a chance at winning this so Black Moon won't do a hazcon, but still, second/third isn't half bad.

An even better run ! I am satisfied about this tournament.

It appears that ultra-specialization wins tournaments (ERM : very powerful, crazy stable and lots of weapon weight but very slow, easy to kill and easy to deweapon), and not being a generalist like Black Moon (fast, lots of weapon weight, quite resilient, stable but a weak spinner and low DPS in general).

GJ to thrackerzod for winning this, and thanks for Redace for being a fine host.

Wow, thanks for doing this tournament so fast RedAce!  Just watched almost the whole thing start to finish.

Nuclear Arms Race had a pretty good run there.  (That one OOTA on Not Bushido...  :eek:)

I'm kind of curious to see NAR vs. ERM, but don't worry about it if you're done with grudge matches.  (It would be a fun fight but I'm pretty sure ERM has the edge on stability.)

Even though your a tad late, I can fulfill that request.

Speaking of, those grudge matches are now up.

So, I guess I'll take about my thoughts here.  Overall, I was pretty happy throughout.  I wasn't going to get exactly what I was hoping for with how the ruleset I made for it was, but in the end, it was a good experience.  I also may have said that this was an experimental tournament, but I thought it was an interesting one.  I feel I could've done better, but for what I tried to make work, I thought this was pretty good.  Thanks for everyone who participated in this tournament, and for helping in what I think, may be the last DSL 2.1 tournament that may happen.

Also, there's an Awards Thread (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=18718.0) that needs votes.  Please vote in it.

And the the 3 Way Battle between Not Bushido, FFTW, and AKW was mainly just Not Bushido vs. FFTW as AKW got OOTAed instantly by both bots
As soon as FFTW's wedge was broken Not Bushido had t.he lead.
Anyways I won all of my Grudge Matches so I'm satisfied
