Game - DSL 2.1
Arena - Robot Wars arena.
Weight - Heavyweight.
Realistic Rule - IRL Realistic
16 entrants.
All previous entrants of First Strike will be entered in this, unless they are replaced or withheld by builders, or if they break new rules.
One entry robot per person.
Only in game glitches are allowed - eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading etc.
Exception of BFE for chassis shape and realism.
If you can't AI I will try me best to AI for you, but please do not complain about it unless it is a serious issue that has to be resolved, such as weapons not firing or a bot capable of avoiding immobilisation doesn't.
You can't enter until I have received and accepted your robot.
If your bot doesnt load up in a DSL 2.1 clean copy then your bot is disqualified. No ifs, no buts.
Multibots not allowed. (As a result, KekBanter is not returning.)
Judge Bursts and Lifter Bursts allowed, max of 2.
Battle Rules:
Double Elimination.
1v1 matches.
Voting System for who wins if time runs out:
Poll goes up to decide who won. I am fully aware that this is frowned upon but i doubt will have volunteers. However, if 3 people do ask to act as judges, this will be overturned.
-
Anyone interested?
Also, should i do seeding based on First Strike?
-
I could try cooking something up.

Game - DSL 2.1
If your bot doesnt load up in a Ironforge clean copy then your bot is disqualified. No ifs, no buts.
you might want to fix this ;)
I'll make something for this. Probably.
-
Sure, why not, i can enter that here clamp i entered into an aborted tournament
-
sure i'll join
-
Rip kekbanter

Rip kekbanter
Personally i thought the only reason you did well was the fact that your opponents bots got confused and got attacked from behind. Plus i got a vibe of you just telling me to pick two bots which were never related. Secret everyone: His bots were from Kurt's Fifteen to One. The onedrive system he used had his bots under a folder called fifteen to one.
As a note to people: this aint happening for a while, and if new tournament hosts want a ruleset to work on, I will gladly give them this ruleset.

There were no rules against re-entries, and I picked the bots.
-
Correct, but it felt you gave zero effort.
-
Sure, I'll give this a shot.
-
Awww DSL? Darn... Don't expect anything amazing from me xD
-
Decided on putting up a poll for the mod because I am torn between DSL and Ironforge.
-
Ironforge it is, rules are set, lets get this ready to go!
-
If the weight class is MW why are you entering with a SHW
-
YOU SEE NOTHING!
Rule Fixed.
-
Ironforge eh? *rolls up sleeves* ...Count me in
-
I'll enter with Third Level.
-
I have added a rule allowing multibots as my current, better laptop can now run 4 bots at the same time with ease.
Also, due to the fact Tibsy gave it a true skin, i updated the front picture.
-
3 more votes guys, 3 more.
-
I voted.
-
4 more people, lets get this going!
-
What weight is this btw?
-
Weight - Ironforge Superheavyweight
-
ahh so third level is allowed
get in
-
Alright, 2 more yes votes and we are done! If you said no, please say why.
-
If you said no, please say why.
F*** SHWs.
-
Mature...
If I can get round to building a decent IF SHW I'll enter, but not sure as of yet.
-
If a match ends without a winner, a poll will go up to decide who won for 4 days, unless one bot gains a lead of 8 votes.
This system sucks and is going to cause a ton of favoritism.
in-game points > judges > your system

in game points suck even more than any of those

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or what, but in-game points is the most objective way to determine who wins after the time limit expires and the least subject to "well hurr I like this bot/builder more than the other bot/builder so it wins".

Please explain why the in-game points system is better other than the fact that someone could favor someone else, since there is many flaws with the points system that can screw up results. For example, you have Bot A which is some stupid invertible bot with spikes and a flamethrower. Then you have Bot B which is a flipper. In the fight, Bot A gets totally manhandled by Bot B, but would still win the match since "hurr durr flamethrower and spikes xd". I mean it's also totally fair for someone to win if they make some slow heavily weaponed HS and win a match against another HS just because their HS has more weapons even if it gets pushed around and doesn't do jack!!!!

Human error is just something you don't want and try to avoid in competition, which is why most sports use objective means of scoring (such as homeruns or touchdowns). This is RA2, not synchronized swimming, lol.
...there is [sic] many flaws with the points system that can screw up results.
Alright, let's hear them.
For example, you have Bot A which is some stupid invertible bot with spikes and a flamethrower. Then you have Bot B which is a flipper. In the fight, Bot A gets totally manhandled by Bot B, but would still win the match since "hurr durr flamethrower and spikes xd".
A flipper is screwed either way against anything that's invertible, unless the flipper gets an OOTA, immobilizes the rammer or manages to push the rammer into hazards which KO it. There's also the fact that flippers do virtually ZERO damage. The rammer shouldn't have to lose the match just because it got flipped over for no damage a bunch of times.
I mean it's also totally fair for someone to win if they make some slow heavily weaponed HS and win a match against another HS just because their HS has more weapons even if it gets pushed around and doesn't do jack!!!!
If it's getting pushed around and isn't doing anything, then it's likely going to either get immobilized or get it's chassis/other vitals hit. If they just give it a gigantic overkill motor and then slap a pair of drive motors and wheels that wound't be out of place on an AW on, then it's likely going to fly out of the arena too, given this tourney is in the robot wars arena.

I can see why 09 is arguing against in-game points since this is an IRL style tournament, it would make sense for people to judge on one's performance, I.E.: Battlebots, but the poll deciding the winner isn't exactly what I would an amazing system either, it can lead a horrible result of who the entire crowd wants to see move on by means of trolling rather than an actual reason of who won without a means of who actually controls the match.
With this in mind, I feel that hiring judges would work, but you gotta make sure things are fair. Also, if Avalanche wants to do what he says in the rules, he can do it. I feel since he wants to host things his way, it's his job to see if he wants to listen to the audience or not.
-
What RedAce said.
Impartial judges are the best way in my opinion for an IRL tournament.
Every other style, in game points.
-
Ok, judges system is underway, calling all judges. I will have the final say in who are the judges because i dont want somebody who will troll.
I will remove the poll because this is clearly not ready for a poll.
Also need a score system, pm me ideas.
-
lol just make sure you're judges aren't fags
-
Still needing judges.
-
ill judge
-
^^ lol
I can judge.
-
Naryar accepted, playzooki considered.
-
If i dont get anymore applicants, either me, naryar and playzooki will be judges, me and naryar will, naryar and playzooki will, or I will return to the vote system.
-

I'll try and help out.
-
Redesigned this tournament! If you were wanting Ironforge, next tournament i do after this will be Ironforge.
-
Seeing as this has been as successful as dousing a fire with petrol, I would like this to be moved to Inactive Discussion.
-
You kinda killed it yourself by not putting the poll up etc but okay :P
-
Is it worth moving it back tbh? Dont want to waste your time, but may as well give it a poll. Maybe move it back if people are intrested.
-

ayy lmao
-
I can probably enter if you did consider this an active tourney, then I can probably enter. It gives me an excuse to build IRL again. However, there's one rule that needs clarification:
Game - DSL 2.1
If your bot doesnt load up in a Ironforge clean copy then your bot is disqualified. No ifs, no buts.
If you're making a DSL tournament where you must have the bot work on a clean version of Ironforge, then you're not gonna get any entrants that will qualify since Ironforge and DSL are two different games. That or this is a typo. I hope it's the latter.
-
All rules sorted, Lets go!
Will be adding a poll.
Note that while i am doing a poll system, i will change to judging if i get enough volunteers.
-
Sure, why not.
-
there ain't a voting option for judges ! this is an outrage !
-
Sure. I can enter, and help out with judging just to be safe.
-
Is anyone still intrested in this?
-
ill gladly be a judge, ive always wanted to pull a jonathan pearce =3 ( or noel sharky if you want accuracy but you get da point)
-
Still a judge there
-
Well,if Redace still wants to be a judge, you 3 can act as judges.
Though one of you hasnt put it in the poll.
-
ive voted in the poll
-
ill enter this if it ever gets out of the cycle of votes
-
OK. Here is how the judging will work.
Each category has 15 points to allocate to each bots performance in that respect. Categories: Aggression, Damage, Strategy. Judge splits the points how they see fit. Example:
BOT A VS BOT B
12 Aggression 3
5 Damage 10
8 Strategy 7
Total Score: 25 to 20, Bot A wins.
Also, the Judge must give a small statement on why they picked the scores that way, HOWEVER the names will be anonymous. This means we get more of an insight into their decision.
Also, I am looking for backup judges. These will be called in when the following occurs:
If a judge enters and has a match, a backup judge will be assigned to the match.
If a judge takes longer than a week to come to a decision once, they will be temporarily replaced by a backup.
If it happens again, a Backup becomes permament at their own choice.
If 2 judges fight, 2 backups replace.
Backup judges cannot judge their own match. Duh.
Finally,I am going to set up a picture of a new bot, as I will be entering.
If anyone wishes to be a backup judge then please reply. I will require 2 backup judges min.
Once we do this, we can move to signups.
-
I'll do it
-
WIth me wanting to take over Identity Theft, this thread should be moved back to Inactive Discussion, and either have all replys to the original post removed so it isnt cluttered if there is a take over, or just out right delete the thread as someone will most likely change the name anyways.
