Title: The Cauldron 2: DSL Edition - Signups
Post by: 09090901 on June 02, 2016, 04:08:36 PM
Posting on mobile so this may be a little on the wack side. I'll reorganize everything when I get back to a keyboard.

General Rules:
-DSL 2.2
-16 entrants max
-If empty spaces are present after signup close, bye-bots will take the remaing spaces to make a even bracket, and will be from the stock DSL AI
-1v1
-2 minutes matches, Best of 3, double elimination
-DSL Tournament Arena, hazards on
-Multibots are banned
-Meltybrain is banned
-Crawlers, TRFD, trinity spinners, bumble balls, and robots that attempt to create havok explosions are banned
-You cannot enter unless a bot is received and accepted
-I have the right to reject any bot under any condition

Building Rules
-DSL standard
-HW, 399.1-800
-Rule of 7 bypass is allowed
-The other two features of sergepatcher, component intersection and attachment freedom are not
-cheatbot2, stock, and custom components are banned
-All the usual out of game exploits are banned (BFE, AAM, etc)
-Bots must show controlled movement
-At least 2 powered wheels are required
-Smartzones do not add toward's your weight, however they cannot be used as ballasts/mounts and must be Madiaba's smartonzes that are included in 2.2

Other
-Bots get one free havok restart for a game-changing havok that has a major impact on the fight. A second havok will result in a round loss for the offending bot
-One update is allowed per person. This can be as major as a rebuild or as minor as a skin
-I can AI if you are not willing/unable to
-No cheaty .pys
-Builders who AI their own bot can change their robot's AI once and only once during the tournament (smartzone included)
-Zero tolerance for blatantly illegal robots, builders who send an illegal entry will be disqualified from entering another robot. Things that  I would consider blatant would include bfe/aam, custom components, and cheat .pys
-I will be entering with tba

Awards
-The winner and runner up will be awarded with the tournament AI and bots

tldr: it's a DSL-S tournament with no gimmicks

Any other suggestions or ideas you guys have?

Everything seems okay to me but I'd just like a bit of elaboration as to what you constitute as a major havok explosion and what the cap is for updates (couple of parts changed here and there, an entirely different robot, etc.)

Oh, just saw this. Considering you are talking about the use of byes, you must say when you are going to use them. For example, would you use 4 or 12 byes in the event you only get 4 entrants? In this case, I don't think you need a screenshot of the byes because they are from the AI teams. It seems a bit obvious but I'm just going by the guidelines set out by GK.

So you're somewhat going down the BBEANS route with how the weightclass and game is done.  Alright then, seems pretty self-explanatory.  I'll probably enter.

Edit: Just noticed the illegal entries rule.  I get why you put that in, but it seems kinda strict in my opinion.

Looks good, I'm a fan of the illegal bot rule, discourages people from submitting cancer. I'm gonna enter something. We definitely need more tournaments.

No-frills DSL HW tournament. I'm in !

It sound fun. expect a KillerWhale !!

just make sure to not send something with cheatbot2 or custom components first... this is a dsl 2.2 standard tournament

Ooh, first tournament using the rule of 7 bypass.  Wonder how much difference that will make.

I've adjusted some of the rules and added my entry. Tried to clarify on how bye-bots, havok restarts and the illegal entry rule would work, but if you have any other suggestions then let me know.

Is the "all attachment points can attach to all other attachment points" thing OK or not?

I'd probably enter if this were to start and wrap up within a month or so.

Gonna have to say no to that, along with the no collisions part. I might allow it for future tournaments, but right now I'd prefer to stick to the current meta.

DP

Just noticed I can't add a poll to this topic. Is this part of some new rule I'm unaware of, or did it just break sometime during one of the fourm updates?

Aside from that, I'll be adding some type of logo pretty soon. Won't be the prettiest thing ever, but hey, it's better than a bunch of empty space.

You should be able to add a poll. Once I see Trov back in action a bit more, I'll contact him about it. In the meantime, would you like me to add a poll for you?

Quick question: Do you care if we send in song suggestions and/or theme songs like last time or naw?

Oh don't worry.  I'll get my entry sent tonight.  I'm not sure if anyone else is having issues with the file host, but I can't help but feel it's not working properly at the moment.

Feel free to send song suggestions/theme songs in. Same as last time, I'll use a theme song for all your fights if you choose.

How do I enter?
Make sure your bot is made in DSL and is a HW. Just making sure since all your videos use stock bots.

Then upload your bot through this link (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?page=page1580). The exported bot file will be in [DSL install loaction]/Robot Designs. The bots in this competition will be pretty high-level and efficient unlike the IRL style bots in your videos though, so keep that in mind. Just making sure.

Just adding on: once you upload the bot, send a PM to the tournament host with the link to the bot.

Good luck!

If you're confused about anything, be sure to check the Complete Tutorial Index (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=17300.0) made by Craaig and, if you're still confused as to how to enter, check the Beginners Guide To Entering A Tournament (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=17179.0) also made by Craaig.

Yeah just send it to me via PM. Doesn't have to be AI'd or anything, just make sure it's DSL 2.2 and follows the DSL-Standard ruleset.

Got badgers bot. I'll look at it later when I get off work. Rest of bots look okay so far, just need to be AI'd.
