Title: Tactical Technical Machines tourney idea
Post by: hypnodisc7 on February 12, 2010, 03:39:34 PM
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/71724TTM.png)
Conference 1: Division I: (1, 2, 3, 4), Division II: (5, 6, 7, 8)
Conference 2: Division III: (9, 10, 11, 12), Division IV: (13, 14, 15, 16)
Here is a proposal for a tournament that I may start in the next few months or so.  The tournament format includes a two-conference four-division setup.  This may seem a little out of the ordinary, but I will explain the details.

As I said above there are four divisions in two conferences.  This means two divisions per conference.  Entrants compete in 5 total regular season matches that include round-robin style matches against entrants in the respective entrant’s division (3 matches), matches against one entrant from each of the other divisions in the respective entrant’s conference (1 match; I’ll use a pattern that’s easy to understand; see below), and a match against a team from the other conference (1 match; figured out using a standard 16-team bracket)

If there are any questions, comment below
I will be videoing with CamStudio (working on downloading FRAPS but that's still up in the air)
Playoffs will include winners of each division (2 per conference) and 2 wild cards (1 per conference) for a total of
6 bots in the playoffs.
Rules: (subject to change)

Build:
DSL HW
No BFE or AAM
No cheatbot2 or custom components
Realistic (no intersecting parts that would never intersect in real life)

Match Structure:
3 minute matches
If your bot Havoks, you will get ONE restart per match.  If the bot Havoks again and causes a change in the outcome of the match, you will be disqualified and the win will be awarded to your opponent.
Ties will be broken using the RA2 points system in all cases.

Arena:
It will be either a modded or un-modded DSL Tourney Arena

AI:
I can AI, but would prefer if you did it yourself.  But if you positively can't, I will do it for you.

Idk...lemme look it up...and btw it's unintentional if the tourney format is similar

EDIT: It seems similar, yes, but I formated this to be based off the NFL in a slight way.

Looks cool.  I doubt Click would mind if you had a tourney during BBEANS.  Heck, if you were posting matches while he was it would give him some resting time between recording because everyone would not be totally relying on his tourney to entertain them.  Just my opinion.

The format looks really nice!

Too many DSL tournaments at the moment. Stock for me, I'd like some variation.

"Stock/DSL" poll has now ended

Results (which some may not be happy with): DSL:15, Stock:8

DSL tourney it is.

Next poll is for weight class.  What hasn't been done recently that could be initiated in this tourney.  Poll will be up soon.

Nope no matter h ow hard I try, the bots will not go through the roof of the combat zone.

I do have my bets that the speed's not high enough.

I also have an idea - the "Escape velocity" of the combat arena might be (FPS*length of the arena) or even less so when the game refreshes at each (1/FPS) second, the bot has actually moved OOTA because of high speed.

I did it with a LW with 2WD F300 Tornado motor drive with rocket wheels (See Beetlebros pack)

Tie between HW and UHW. I'll extend the poll one more day to break the tie

You should restart the poll, but only have those two so everyone can vote again.

I've broken the tie. There's too many LW Tourneys, and I hate building UHWs with a passion. And wtf is up with the description of the tourney? It's really weird...

I am in the process of making a Word document that explains the tourney format a little bit better than how it is described in my first post.  Don't worry, it'll make sense.  ;)

I updated the first post.  This is now set to be a 16 bot tourney.  Good news: less matches = less work (AI + videoing).  Bad news: Not as many bots can enter now.
