Rules:
16 entries, 1 entry per person.
DSL 2.2 IRL HW
All robots must be Swiss army robots with 3 to 8 formations.  No more, no less.
Clusterbots are allowed, and exchanging clusterbots count as a formation.  (Example: a clusterbot with 3 different MW count as 3 different formations [A and B, B and C, C and A])
Robots must show controlled wheeled movement.
No cheatbot stuff except Nightmare E-Tek.
CF and BFE are allowed
RO7Break allowed
First time a havok explosion decides a match, the match will restart.  The second time, the match will continue.
3 minute matches in a single-elimination format.

Guldenflame will be AIing.  Not me, so if possible, send your robots to him.

Arena: First DSL tournment arena.

When bracket is relieved, PM either me or Guldenflame on which weapon to use.

My entry:

Pretty cool idea, actually.

For the love of all things limit the amount of variants.
Otherwise I'm sending like 20.

Rules:
First time a havok explosion decides a match, the match will restart.  The second time, the match will continue.

So there's basically no punishment for havoking? Traditionally havoking too much means you forfeit the round/match.

Guldenflame will be AIing.  Not me, so if possible, send your robots to him.

When bracket is relieved, PM either me or Guldenflame on which weapon to use.

If Guldenflame is doing the hard bit, why isn't he hosting it? The last thing we need is yet another idea for a DSL 2.2 IRL Tourney by someone who isn't capable of running it.

Conraaa raises good points.

I'm just happy about no DQs for havok, but you'd think it's rather hypocritcal to restart a match due to havok... considering your name... hmm...

In addition, you've only made 5 posts and haven't shown you can either a) Make a robot or b) Stay around long enough to actually run a tournament. I suggest making a showcase, showing off some robots you have made in RA2 and watching other tournaments as they unfold so you can get an idea as to how they run.

You're not ready, young grasshopper.

I jumped straight into doing tournaments when I first joined :P Give him the benefit of the doubt (if he can sort out the following problems.)

Guldenflame will be AIing.  Not me, so if possible, send your robots to him.
I'm sorry but you're going to have to learn how to AI and do it yourself. If not, I don't think I can really give you the host point.

Yep, you're prolly going to want to revise this rule.

How long are matches going on for? Is it BO3? Is it single or double elim? Also, I'd like confirmation on whether or not you're entering your own tournament.

Conraaa is right. I suggest aborting the continuation of this tournament, and creating a personal tournament instead. Then, prove you can actually run a tournament all by yourself, and then we will trust you.

After 5 posts over 3 weeks and not showcasing a single robot or entering any other tournaments?

My first tournament was my third post on this site, without making a showcase or entering a tournament beforehand. Like I said, bot building skills and tournament hosting skills do not correlate.

The guy read the rules.

If you look around, he's actually been in the tournament section for most of his posts.  Voting in the WCR and entering in Sword of Glory and Beat the clock.

I can understand their concerns honestly. I think we need to review the AI ruling as that's half the tournament.

Ah, that's sadly true that GK did put that. However, I'm probably going to have to talk about possibly changing that because I really do have trouble wondering who should even get the host point, if any of them. I think this issue came up in a different tournament that was in discussion but never got out of the gate. Do remember that G.K.'s post was a guide to hosting tournaments, not the rules. I'd still rather it be the norm that the host learns to AI (because it's so god damn easy.)

Maybe they don't care about the host point and just want to run a cool tournament idea instead?

Well, there's also the trouble that hosting is usually only done by one person. If two people are responsible for one tournament, who do we hold accountable if something goes wrong?

It would depend on what the problem is.  Failure to the robots themselves, it's on me.  Failure on the bracket or videos, it's on him.

However, if you were the one to make the cockup, then I'd have no way of penalising you, except banning you from hosting tournaments, which you're not technically actually doing.

Then I won't mess up.  :dumb)

But seriously, if that's what you have to do, then do it.  I agreed to help AI, thus I agreed to take any punishment of failing to help.

Also, you can give the host point to him.

Added the fact that it's 3 minute matches with single elimination and limited the amount of formations useable to 8.
As for BO3...
I don't know what that is.  It's not under Jargon.

Best Of Three.
However, I seriously suggest to not host this tournament till you can prove that you can AI, build, video and host all by your self.
Still, if you insist, at least you are attempting to contribute. I wish you the best of luck with the tournament, if you go ahead with it. (please don't, learn to AI yourself please.)

Why are we changing the rules on this guy!?

There is no huge negatives to me AIing over Havok.
The only difference is who's on the keyboard.
I just send him the bots after AIing them.  I could just as easily watch over his shoulder and tell him how to AI a certain robot.

Because any good tournament host should be capable of AIing. Hell, even I was capable of it. No excuses. Also, if you two are friends IRL and you can show him how to ai, please show him (in person or online, idc) so he can learn it for himself. Having everything done for you sets a bad precedent in tournament hosts and a reliance on people that can hinder a tournament getting off the ground.

That's actually a very well-put point. Pretty much this.

I just really don't see why you can't just learn how to AI.

How come you're so defensive Gulden? What's your relation?

Due to the fact that I can't AI, Guldenflame is not allowed to AI, and I lack recording software (I didn't think about that), I'm gonna have to cancel the tournament...

That's a shame. Why does he not simply teach it to you? Also, I think Bandicam is free.

He uses his mother's computer.  He's not allowed to Download anything onto it...

He's a clingy brother.  It makes me feel uncomfortable with him here.  Wish I didn't have to reveal this, but all of discord knows so...

That's also a shame. If that is the case, then this tournament definitely won't be seen through and I'll lock it.
