Title: Stock Scramble: Signups
Post by: 09090901 on August 24, 2016, 02:37:24 AM
                                                           (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/64375logo3.png)
Basic Rules:
-Stock HW, normal stock rules (unrealistic)
-No custom components or cheatbot2
-Ro7 break is allowed
-No BFE, AAM, Ra2cf or other BS. Offending bots will be disqualified
-2 minute matches, Bo3, double elim
-Robots must have 2 powered wheels and show controlled movement
-I can reject a robot for any reason
-Arena is the RAW 2 arena with hazards on and modified start positions

The Gimmick:
Everyone who signs up picks a MW or HW that comes with the stock AI. After I have 16 entrants I'll randomize and redistribute them among the entrants for you to build your bot. Go read the Pot Luck thread if you want a better explanation of the process.

Gimmick Rules:

-Robots must be the same type as the original stock AI bot. Some bots (see: Ronin) have been changed to make them not completely
terrible. See the list below for allowed bot types.
-Armor cannot be changed (all stock AI armor is x2 as strong anyway)
-Wedges are not allowed (both small and e-wedges) unless they are a part of the original stock bot. For reference the only bot allowed to use wedges is EMERGENCY.

Other Rules:
-I can AI, and I believe I have all my .pys up to date
-No cheat .pys
-Standard havok restart rules, each bot get's one free pass before it forfeits the round
-One update per person

So would the MW's be upgraded to HW's as well? Would be kinda difficult with bots like Backlash.

All bots would be rebuilt as HW's. Space isn't an issue as all of the bots are large enough to fit at least a black and a snapper at minimum.

You can always find creative ways to build your bot if you don't want to use snappers:
This was built by Sage for doomkiller's stock revenge and was built using dsl's realistic rules. Shouldn't be too hard with the stock ruleset

I was thinking about something like that, but wouldn't that cause issues with the no wedge rule? Unless Backlash gets them allowed of course.

Also are skin modifications(still trying to keep the skin close to the original) allowed?
Title: Re: Stock Scramble: Discussion
Post by: 09090901 on August 24, 2016, 01:45:44 PM
That bot is from the old tournament where wedges were allowed. Backlash would not be allowed to have wedges in this tournamnet.

Bots can be reskinned as long as they resemble the original stock AI skin.

Sounds interesting....  i'm tempted to already rebuild every single stock AI bot on the list so i already have somthing to enter regardless of what's given to me by RNGesus, EMERGENCY will be tough to make better tho with bigass chassis and being already really close to weight limit

Changed a few bot types, added the byebot, and posted a pic of the arena.

I'll also put the poll up since I think I'm done as far as rules go.

Id be keen to dust off RA2 and come out of retirement for this one.. sounds like fun.

Backlash.

Yes?.. oh uh.. you meant Backslash.. carry on :)

hmm yes

and honestly considering the arena is an oota one and i fully expect a 36hs style bot to go spikeball mode it'll probably go OOTA so i don't think HS are really overpowered.

tl;dr i stole stock's revenge's gimmick and pot lucks gimmick, put'em together, and made a tournament. Please Clap.

Any other suggestions? kinda feel like I should mix up some of the bot types some more as there are a lot of bots of the same type. On the other hand they all have completely different chassis' and I feel that changing too many of them goes against the idea of the tournament. Probably gonna change the rules about Revenge and Tornado to balance them better with the other bots.
This is now a signups topic and the rules quoted may not change. You've got 3 months, enjoy :)

Alright, we got our 16 entrants, so here's the assignments:

1. 090901-Little Metal Friend (Side-Hammer)
2. Kurt-Backlash (True Popup)
3. Squirrel_Monkey-Bushido (Hammer)
4. Thrackerzod-Hanky Panky (Weaponed Flipper or Clamp)
5. JoeBlo-Mud Runner (Hammer)
6. Redace-Tornado
7. R01-Wide Load (Poker)
8. Silverfish-SnowJob (Rammer or Pusher)
9. Mechadino-Ronin (Wammer or Popup)
10. Sage-BEAR (Hammer/Sidehammer Hybrid)
11. Fracture-ALARM (Poker)
12. Kill-DeadBeat (Hammer)
13. Pwnator-Grog the Warrior (VS)
14. Wen-Sabretooth (Side Thracker or V-Rack Rammer)
15. Mystic2000-Iceberg (Hammer)
16. Mr. AS-EMERGENCY (Flipper)

and here are all stock bots needed with 0 components https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/1639Robot Designs.rar (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/1639Robot Designs.rar)

Also, I didn't say it in the OP, but for those who are wondering hybrids are allowed as long as the main weapon system is of the assigned bot type. I will decline a bot if I feel it's going too far against the original bot type so try not to push it to far.

Deadline will be the 24th of September unless something comes up.

1. they don't transfer between game installs

so no

Pot Luck rules.  You toss something in the mix, the host then shuffles everything up, and you are given what you are chosen.

Anyway, Tornado huh?  Well this will be interesting.

That's the spirit! Keeping most of the original bot is a nice detail. Who knows maybe it helps with the bot running inverted?

Well I had something.. but the final version seemed to fail miserably in the end.. Ive been trying to thrash around and make something halfway decent but couldnt get much to work..

Sorry about that, but know that I tried to make the deadline in the form of half a dozen prototypes..

Be interesting to see what others came up with for Wedgeless Hammers.. it had me pretty stumped..

Signups are over already? Thought it was until the end of the month, oh well, one bot less to build, not that my wide load was ever working that great:
Razors caused too much issues with stacking so I had to switch over to Irons, added trapper plows:
Would've removed the second piston as it caused havoks, add a anti hammer rack(the pistons are the longest ones to keep bots at bay) as well as angle the spikes downwards to hopefully rip off the Emergency Wedges(again, Razors would've worked better except against spinners), however didn't get to it and thought it was end of the month.
