Title: Shove Off! - A KOTH Tournament [Signups Closed]
Post by: Badger on March 25, 2018, 04:52:16 PM
I'm thinking of doing a KOTH tournament.

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

Format and Rules:
8 entrants
DSL-IRL (w/ balance patch, DSC's extenders and the AP fixes) and IF-S
Standard meta building rules apply for each meta (For DSL-IRL, CB2 is banned but Flatmotors are allowed)
HW
KOTH on the LumaZone, 2 minute matches
4 bots per match. The lowest scoring (or first to be eliminated) bot in each match is eliminated. If there is a tie for worst bot, the tied bots will fight to the death on the flextop. First bot out is eliminated.
After each round of matches, the groups of bot are mixed and numbers kept equal and another round commences. This continues until there is a single bot remaining, who is the champion.
Example: 8 entrants. First round is 2x 4-way rumbles. One bot eliminated from each. Second round is 2x 3 way rumbles. Third round is 1x 4-way rumble. Fourth round is 1x 3-way rumble etc.
I reserve the right to reject your bot for any reason
Each bot has a single free havok restart. Consider this rule while building your IRL entrants especially, as they are often havok-prone

Sounds neat, would like to see IRL cuz Im a tool.

Would the first separate rumbles basically whittle bots down to a point where they fit into a single rumble then?

King Of The Hill? I don't think I've ever seen a solely KOTH tourney before, I'm game.

I love hilltop arena but the AI becomes ultra retarded once it falls into the hazard areas.

The neglected game mode. It exists, so let's try it. Sounds like a pretty cool idea to me.

Well based on the poll, this tournament is going to go ahead with an 8-bot bracket for DSL and Ironforge! I added a couple strawpoll links to the OP for what weightclass you want to see and what arena should be used, be sure to vote!

This sounds interesting. I'll think about building something maybe for the Ironforge bracket, mainly just to brush up on my Ironforge skills.

Alright, I'm gonna ask for this to be moved to signups over the weekend at some point, to give people a little time to prepare bots. There are only 8 spots for either meta, so I'm expecting this to be filled quickly, particularly the IRL section. More details on the final rules in the OP

We have our first entrant! Thanks to UberPyro

The PM bot attachment system is acting up right now, so I'd suggest uploading to the bot exchange and PMing the link

Nope, my PMs are having issues right now. I thin kits to do with attaching bot files directly to the PM

The IF bracket is full (and AI'd), and so signups are closed! Bad luck to Virus Bomb, who narrowly missed out on the final spot to NeonCalypso.
