Okay, we're here guys. 16 SHW bots. 15 of them will Rust In Pieces. One will become a robotic champion.
Signups are now CLOSED, thank you for entering, and sorry to those who may have missed out.
All those who said they would send updates or bindings have until the 28th May, then I will be making the splash and AIing the last of the bots!


Entrants
Red if bot is recieved, not yet implemented into game
Yellow if bot is being AIed or there is a problem (problems will be in brackets)
Green if bot is ready to roll.
(A) = you said AI-related thing would be send in
(U) = you said an update would be sent in.

Okay, we're here guys. 16 SHW bots. 15 of them will Rust In Pieces. One will become a robotic champion.
To enter for your chance, send your SHW bot to me, preferably by the 28th May.
If this fills up fast, there will be a 'WildCard' tournament for the last place.

Rules
1. Realistic DSL SHW. Bots must be over 800kg but under or exactly 1200kg.
2. Multibots are allowed, to a maximum of 2, both bots must be at least 400kg however.
3. The arena used will be The Electric Arena 2 with hazards disables for a large fighting plane with OOTA-able walls.
4. No custom parts, cheatbot2 parts or AI parts.
5. No glitches, e.g. Nasty Pickle or Trinity bots, although Trov Glitch may be accepted in realistic circumstances (see Sage's Hummingbird)
6. I will AI, but I would appreciate you sending your own AI lines if you can.
7. No BFE, AAM etc. All building must be done inside the bot lab (except chassis skinning)
8. Any complaints about the tournament itself, AIing or the like will result in instant disqualification. Any reason that things may not be going as fast as they should (highly unlikely) will be fully explained, and I would appreciate your co-operation. Not saying stuff will happen, but yeah. These rules are here for reasons.
9. A restart will occur if a bot havoks, or is immobilized unfairly (eg stuck on a component). If a robot havoks twice, it will be disqualified.

Black if entry will happen, but bot is not recieved (Me and Pwn only)
Red if bot is recieved, not yet implemented into game
Yellow if bot is being AIed or there is a problem (problems will be in brackets)
Green if bot is ready to roll.

Somebody needs to make a list of ALL the rules that MUST be stated........I let one slip this time!
 
You need to say how many times they can change their bots (if any)
 
Maybe one of you guys that like to type can make a list for US to go by.

Sounds interesting, and DSL SHW is a pretty underdone class in tourneys. Only question is the two-havoks-you're out rule reset for every match, or is it global?

Yeah, just DSL. No Nar AIs here. I have reason to believe one or 2 of the components may be imbalanced.... not that you don't know that... *coughs in Fuel's direction*

Yes, there are some balance issues. Hopefully it will be better in v2.3 and completely fixed in v2.4.

Good hosting history = fast joining normally

nearly half the 16 bot bracket in 1 day.. that puts you in RAW, CC, N00b Warz host level  :gawe: (before people say what about BBEANS.. that's light years away for us all 0_0)

I was gonna throw a modified Quasar in but it's not turning out so well.  If I can't get a working version in a few hours I guess Cow will have to do.

Edit:  Modification complete.  This RPP/Morning Star hybrid should be way more powerful than Quasar, just need to AI it now.

I prefer building at lower weight classes simply because it's much more fun and challenging to build effectively with weight constraints. SHWs and UHWs barely rely on drive and armor. Just spam enough weapons and you'll cause phenomenal damage.

there is still work in SHW I think (not as much though) but UHW is just weapon spam.. really it only surfaced to try and wake up the DSL showcases more (same reason I think the two extenders should be allowed in stock)

I like SHW.  Part placements are neither random nor spam.  They are more intense in efficiency than any lower weight class.  Rather than 400 kg you have 1200 kg to be efficient about.  It's just that we have too little SHW tournaments and too little SHW on NAR AI, so nobody is pushed to be efficient with that 1200 kg.

As for UHW, it's too bad the game's physic's engine can't handle them too well in combat, but they are even more intense in planning and efficiency.  You have to be efficient with hundreds of parts, and you have to plan based on the maximum sphere and rule of 7.  It take days to build a combat efficient UHW.

Yeah, I think there's a lot of work involved in making efficient bots in each class, they just have different needs to be efficient. Personally I like SHW a lot cos I can whack out some huge stuff :p

its not so much that its not effient when building but rather the heavier the robots class the more forgiving it is with getting parts on

its a lot easier to adjust to fit on those extra irons or extra batt.. MW isnt so easy.. and LW IMO is the most competitive as far as building

I would have build something 50000kg by now if it isn't for the maxsphere and the physics engine.  I like having a lot of parts to work with.

I gotta say NFX, your design is probably one of my favourites, but theres a nice range I think. Popups, Flippers, VS, SS, FBS, HS, Hammer... It's great!

something you may or may not know that will make splash making easier

here this will make it easier for you

just extract it and put it into UI/Botlab and overwrite the old one  :mrgreen:

makes the background behind the robots a bright blue (last I checked, it maybe a different colour) so you can cut out easier

In my opinion, all that matters in a splash is the robot's pic, name, and builder. The background never mattered to me much (don't get me wrong, the backgrounds are awesome in my opinion).

True. That's really the basics of the splash, pic, name, builder. but there's always an opportunity for splashers to make something cool, like the BBEANS splash and stuff. =P
