What do you mean by custom components? Cheatbot2?

And Mr. Brownstone will definitely be returning to defend his title.

What do you mean by custom components? Cheatbot2?
Both. I will make sure that none of the entries are using unbalanced components. I allow custom components because it gives us even more different designs. Besides, some Replicas use custom components because they're needed.

I might make another bot that Vertikiller. Or might do a DSL version.

Are you doing CA3 awards?

If so, you can't start this yet.

Nah. I'm not doing any awards.

I'm not counting anyone in until the Replica entry list is done properly and signups are opened. I really want some suggestions what bots we should include and which should be kicked out.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion

In which case, I'd say the obvious option would be to cut the two fictional robots, Viper and Tenderizer, and then as the other 4, maybe Flensberger Power, Henry 2, Psychokiller and Stealth.

Could Cunning Plan be entered for lols?
That's not a valid reason.
In which case, I'd say the obvious option would be to cut the two fictional robots, Viper and Tenderizer, and then as the other 4, maybe Flensberger Power, Henry 2, Psychokiller and Stealth.
Agreed. Now we have 100 Replicas. Does anyone want to request changes?

Probably. But I probably should upload all the available components somewhere.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Mystic2000 on July 02, 2013, 08:22:11 AM
well after some testing 3.2 grip is ridiculously fast but if i fight a Wedged VS or a drum you can say goodbye to them
i might nerf them and put their mass to 20 kg and their grip to 2.5 and 500 Hitpoints

Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Jonzu95 on July 06, 2013, 08:38:30 AM
I'm surprised about the lack of interest...
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Merrick on July 06, 2013, 08:48:21 AM
I think there would be interest, but you're still just planning it.

For example, my first post in this thread was me stating my interest, but you immediately said you weren't counting who was interested until you'd gotten everything sorted. Is everything sorted?
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Jonzu95 on July 06, 2013, 09:00:25 AM
Of course not. I need help with the Replica entries, who should be competing and who should not. And should the weightclass be MW, CW or HW? Since some of the Replicas are Heavyweight.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: GoldenFox93 on July 06, 2013, 09:06:03 AM
Heavyweight.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Jonzu95 on July 22, 2013, 05:21:14 AM
I decided to keep it MW, since It was the same on Series 8. Replicas are allowed to be Heavyweight though. I also REALLY need suggestions for the Replica list who should be included and which not.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: helloface on July 23, 2013, 03:09:53 AM
I like CW better, but whatever. I'll try to make a "spring loaded"
flipper. It's basically a really powerful flipper with a slow retraction speed. Or if that doesn't work out well, an axe.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: playzooki on July 23, 2013, 09:01:05 AM
I prefer CW as well.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Shield on July 23, 2013, 09:19:11 AM
CW would be better in my mind.

And I just found this, I do plan on entering.

And perhaps, the rules should be something like:

-Only one spinning weapon per bot
-Each bot is permitted only one judge burst motor

So that they don't get too American. Just a suggestion.

And is this DSL 2.1 or 3?
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Jonzu95 on July 23, 2013, 09:26:39 AM
DSL 2.1 of course. I won't change my mind on the weight class. Judge burst rule seemed to be ok, but I scrapped the spinner rule (note 13 black and shredder for example)
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Shield on July 23, 2013, 09:31:02 AM
Oh yeah. 13 Black. Almost forgot.

Anyways, seems alright, will definitely enter as soon as it hits sign-ups.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion

I'll open signups probably when wham releases his AI pack and arena, and I got all the needed replicas and rules sorted out.

*Wipes dusts from the thread*

It seems there is lack of interest since I haven't gotten any Bot suggestions.

Here's the current list

>Probophobia included
>No SMIDSY

C'mon Guys. I need your help, or should I just do this all by myself? I really thought that GF for example would be interested in this but I guess I was wrong.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: helloface on August 17, 2013, 12:24:07 PM
- Dome
+ Overkill GTI
Also, why not SMIDSY?
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Jonzu95 on August 17, 2013, 01:23:46 PM
Also, why not SMIDSY?
Because I haven't done anything about it. Sure I can take it in the Entry list but which one I should remove then?
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: MassimoV on August 17, 2013, 02:01:37 PM
Alright so you're looking for bot suggestions? Well you should get Elvis, The Creature, and Conquering Clown.
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Jonzu95 on August 17, 2013, 02:09:07 PM
- Elvis Competed only in Series 1-2. I would've accepted if Elvis competed in 6-7 Series.
- The Creature Same with Elvis, only in Series 4.
- Conquering Clown. I guess.... but which one it should Replace?

Replace cassius 2 with 3. More realilistic. Also, I do not think an influx of that many US bots would enter. I suggest replacu ng some with some roaning robots bots that appeared 04 and 05.

I'll remake BackSlash 2 in DSL if you want...
When?

Also, good news for GoldenFox. I change the weightclass to Heavyweight. The reason is mainly because we can get bots with stronger armors, which adds more realisticness IMO.

I'm also working on some preliminary tournament for the bots that aren't included in the Top 100 list. Those who get to the top 10-16, will have chance to replace a bot from the Top 100 list. I'm also taking suggestions, as always.

Oh well, I'll probably enter Full Throttle then.

You could just copy the rw ai parts into dsl 2.1

Of course they Are.

Wham's RW AI is for DSL 3.

(Edit)

Like I said. This tournament will NOT begin UNTIL I have the missing Replicas. The good news is that rules are now done. If you guys have any minigame ideas, feel free to suggest them. (I can accept 2-3 minigame suggestions if I like the idea.)

meh, I've been a lazy butt.

I honestly think this would be cooler in Stock, then you don't need all these replicas and stuff, and the seeds can stay the same. I have a BackSlash Evo pretty much done in Stock too. Besides, I sent you shedloads of Stock reps earlier this year for this...

Honestly I doubt a DSL HW Mr. Brownstone would do as well or look as good either.

I lost all my stock Replicas, badnik. The hardrive failure, don't you remember? Besides, DSL gives much more variety. And to be honest, I can't decide the weight class between Middleweight-Cruiserweight-Heavyweight.

600. Too bad there are no CW tournaments anywhere  :(
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 9 - Planning & Discussion
Post by: Jonzu95 on September 27, 2013, 01:16:40 AM
It's really hard to decide the weightclass... Heavyweight might be too OP against the Replicas, and Middleweight might be too weak against the Replicas. I should put a poll.

come on cruiserweight!

its kinda fits with irl, because IMO MW kinda doesnt give enough weight to  go fully blown and HW gives a bit too much weight

Colour me confused now.

This is now Series 8 again, not Series 9. Considering you've already done a Series 8, which Mr. Brownstone won, does that he mean he's coming back in Series 8.....to defend the title he won in Series 8???  :rage

how come the flamethrower is banned, yet cheatbot2 is allowed? especially when you got stuff like beta hammers, and "cheat" versions of regular components like the matilda tooth and whywatchi waywatchi YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN hammer. if i use them, they will very likely slip under your nose until after you accept it.
are you aware that there are flamethrowers in cheatbot2, like the stock one and the one on BOB? then what if i use a cheatbot2 flamethrower, wouldn't it technically be allowed?

no bfe allowed in an irl tourney is also lame.

You don't want it to be ridiculously easy, mind.

I say don't change anything. If somebody manages to get the tricker OOTAs, then they've made a good flipper and deserve it. Lower and allow anybody with a Judge burst to do it, and it somewhat cheapens it.

This tournament will be one helluva Flipperfest.

I had to ban a robot with 2 Judge Bursts, and another robot with 2 Beta Motors... Those were way too OP when I tested them.

Also, good news for GoldenFox. I change the weightclass to Heavyweight. The reason is mainly because we can get bots with stronger armors, which adds more realisticness IMO.
Only just found this, but woohoo, that's good to hear! I'll see if I can build something good with that.

This is old news. Check out the rules. I switched it to Cruiserweight since it won the poll.

Oh. Sometimes I do have a habit of starting on older pages for some reason, but Cruiserweight's still a good amount of weight for me to use.

i plan on entering a wammer of sorts. it'll make sense when you all see it.

jonzu do signups work like they did in RW8 stock? as in if there are too many entries, GTM entries start replacing replicas?
Title: Re: Robot Wars Series 8 DSL Edition - Planning & Discussion

I was thinking of entering a front-hinged flipper that I build a while ago but everyone else is entering flippers.

I suppose Robot Wars did have a lot of flippers.

It's just a case of coming up with a suitable theme and interesting weapon now...

Are ring spinners allowed?

Hey Jonzu, I made a bot that I am willing to enter, I'm just not too sure if it follows the IRL Realistic rule, (as the bracket I made for the motor slightly touches the motor). Can I send it to you so you can check if it's ok?

It probably wont do well with the whole flippers are everywhere thing but still I have some faith in it XD

EDIT: yep, it's there.
So... What's it's name exactly? The bot name seems to be a little confusing

Also, sadly I had to ban another entry because it was way too overpowered. I have few tips for you guys

- No 2 Judge bursts/Beta motors
- No Skirt Hinge wedges
- Try to make the robot Realistic as possible, not overpowered as possible.
