Also, I just realised. How similar would this be to NQRW?

Not even VAGUELY similar. In that people were just using components to make something else. I just saw a Beta rammer, and a frenZy SNS. That ain't happening here.

(I must add emphasis on that I am only allowing Robot Wars bots into this - I could accept frenZy, but I couldn't accept Beta or Warhead, despite being British teams.)

EDIT: Oh and NQRW was DSL Standard.

I don't really see how one could improve Frenzy within the constraints of RA2 anyway, what with the issues of making a 180 degree hammer.

It could be a replica but that would be very boring. I'm not outlawing it but replica's are not the point of the tournament.

To be honest you could just take a replica and change it a bit, youknow? Make it a little more 'up-to-date' in your own opinion.

I'm hoping that the emphasis on improving existing robots will encourage my vision of what IRL should be.
That's cool, as soon as I typed that, I thought, "nah, I'll be more adventurous than that."  I do have a pretty artsy idea that I think will within the constraints.

Some might say that a few of your replicas are already improvements on the originals.  :laughing

Project Two and Shapeshifter spring to mind there. Lord knows what you'd achieve with some room to adapt.

Unsure what I'll remake (maybe Vader) but I'm totally going to do this.

I'm a little foggy on tourney procedures, do you get to skip some of the tournament bureaucracy because you've hosted a lot of tournaments?

Basically when I fancy putting it to signups, I can. And then it'll just be the fastest people to get their entries in (that are legal and accepted) that compete.

And Thy, it HAS to be RW - the idea is you take an old RW bot and improve it, build it yourself. Youknow, what you'd imagine it to be like if it were in Series 8. A straight-forward replica could be accepted but I'd hate you for boringness.

Updated the rules just slightly, nothing major, all standard stuff. I must stress however, when signups open, I will not accept updates due to very limited slots. Be ready, is all I can say.

I would like for maybe 2 people to volunteer as Judges, judging on the old Style, Control, Damage, Aggression criteria. If you would like to volunteer, drop me a PM.

I think we're almost ready for green tick. I will probably put the tick up tomorrow night and then when the tournament moves to signups, it'll be a game of speed. DO NOT SEND ENTRIES BEFORE SIGNUPS OPEN or I will disqualify you.

Okay let me be very very honest with you guys, especially those like qwerty who haven't run a large tournament.
It gets REALLY boring. I had 43 bots to AI and work with for RIP3, I pity those, like Click, who CHOOSE to work with more. It drove me mad. It puts you off of the game completely.
So I'm done with big tournaments. Besides, would you rather a fair sized tournament every year or 2, or lots of smaller tournaments throughout the year that keep the interest flowing?
