Robo Zone 2 - Stock Antweights.
===============================
House Robots:
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/40176Team Robo Zone 2.jpg)
Challenges:
Offense: Beat the Box - your AW against a box robot with lots of defense.
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/41184Beat the Box.jpg)
Defense: Survival - your AW against a much larger robot.
Team Work: Multi-bot challenge - 2 of your submitted AW vs 1 BW.
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/59607Multi-bot Challenge.jpg)
Overall Design: Gauntlet - your aw faces 3 aws in a row, the match is 1v1 to start and the other 2 will join the battle at set intervals when they are released from the cage).
*Multi-bot challenge will have a time limit of 2:00 and will take place in the classic robo zone arena (re-skinned RA2 tourney arena) with hazards off.
*Beat the Box will have a time limit of 1:00 and will take place in the mini combat zone arena (re-skinned small arena) with hazards off.
*Gauntlet will have a time limit of 3:00 and will take place in the Robo Zone arena with hazards on (the only hazard is that all the robots go for you!).
*Survival will have a time limit of 1:00 and will take place in the mini combat zone arena (re-skinned small arena) with hazards off.
Final: Top 4 Robo Zone Rumble - The final between the top 4 robots, the 2 robots with the lowest amount of points will start the match first and the other 2 will join the battle at set intervals when they are released from the cage with the robot who got the most points joining last.
Rules:
#1 - Weight class = Antweight (125kg and under).
#2 - DSL or Stock = Stock, only normal stock parts including AI parts allowed. No 140cm square extender or Cheatbot(2) parts.
#3 - Realistic rule or not = Non-realistic.
#4 - Arena to be used = Mini combat zone, Classic Robo Zone Arena and Robo Zone Arena.
#5 - Arena hazards on or off = Off for mini combat zone, Off for Classic Robo Zone Arena and On for Robo Zone Arena.
#6 - Number of entrants/date signups will close (can be both) = 10-20 entries.
#7 - IS BFE, AAM, or Zero G is allowed = No
#8 - Which glitches allowed? = Basic in-game stacking glitches such as axle/snapper loading etc. are allowed but Trov glitch, Hax mode etc. are not allowed.
#9 - Type of bots allowed/disallowed = Crawlers, one-wheeled bots, Nasty pickles, bumble bots and multi-bots are not allowed.
#10 - Any attempt to find a loophole will be met with the rejection of your robot, you should know what stock is.
#11 - Robots must have controlled movement.
#12 - You CAN AI your own bot and it is preferred that you do so as I will be doing only basic AI'ing (copy, paste, change name, change PY if needed type AI'ing).
#13 - Any major havok explosions will be edited out, any robot that constantly havoks (3+ times in a row) however will earn 0 points for that round.
Points scoring:
Points will be given in ascending intervals of 1 from worst to best performing bot in each challenge with the worst performer getting 0 points. So in a 10 robot tournament the best performing bot in each challenge would receive 9 points.
Special condition scoring rules:
Gauntlet - Your robot must cause the elimination of bots for it to be counted as a KO for it. 3 KO's > 2 KO's > 1 KO > any score without a KO.
Multi-bot challenge - If one bot is eliminated it's score does not count towards your score.
Awards:
Challenge winners - Robo Zone 2 AI Pack.
Top Points scorer - Robo Zone 2 AI Pack or Robo Zone Arena.
Winner of Top 4 Robo Zone Rumble (Grand Champion) - Robo Zone 2 AI Pack and Robo Zone Arena.

This arena will be a very neat award for the winner of the Robo Zone Rumble and possibly the top points scorer at the end of the challenges, this arena that has been built specifically for this tournament. The arena will allow you to play the game in 2 brand new ways! the Robo Zone Rumble or a Gauntlet match.

I'm quite looking forward to this. I've got an idea for it, I just need to see if I can make it work properly.
-
I'm looking forward this too! =D

Are we allowed to use your AW chassis for this?

Are we allowed to use your AW chassis for this?
Sure, as long as the bot is your own design.

This is a replay of the top 4 battle royal from Robo Zone 1 with the brand new arena that gives an advantage to your bot the closer it finishes to the top of the points ladder.
1st: UndeaD - 31pts
2nd: Antichrist V.1 - 27pts
3rd: spin cycle 2 - 24pts
4th: Robotogeddon - 23pts
Robotogeddon and spin cycle 2 will start the match, after 30 seconds or when one of the first 2 are defeated Antichrist V.1 will enter the match and UndeaD will enter the match last after another 30 seconds or when only 1 robot remains in the match.
-
That arena look fantastic. =D I'm really looking forward to this tournament now.
-
Some small issues with the arena have been sorted out and the house robots have been AI'd. Ready for sign-ups :)

lol this challenge favors gutrippers

Wedge + single razor on axle + 2 pinks? :P
I should also note that the box does have defence on the bottom in the form of casters but there are spots where you can deal damage.
-
lol this challenge favors gutrippers
>aw gutripper

the best i would expect from an aw gutripper is maybe a popup with a single razor and 2 pinks
but if all these casters are towards the front a aw popup is pretty much screwed, wouldnt expect sonething like chest burster to be reliably able to get though the casters anyway

Chest burster is utter crap anyways. Yeah what I meant was that aw gutripper = pretty much inexistant

The public will get it after the winner gets some exclusive time with it :) I edited the awards, as I probably won't have the spare time to put together a special AI pack for the winner.

ian, if you're entering, you have to show your bot somewhere in the opening post.
Ah sorry didn't realise that was a rule. Was wondering why people posted their entries :/ either way I don't see it being an issue in this sort of tournament but updated original post anyway with my entry Toy Drumset 2.
-
5 entries so far also, G.K are you still sending your own bindings?
-
Yeah, I'll have it done eventually. Other stuff to do first.
-
7 entries, 6 AI'd and ready to rumble. Keep those cool unique AW's coming :)
-
just the bot file and the text file with the bindings in a zip.
Progress update: I have made splashes for all 7 entries so far and have started to make the entries splash.
-
some things I forgot to note:
I still have 13 spots left (need at least another 3), waiting on Virus Bomb's and Lightning S' entries. There are still some people who wanted to enter that I haven't got any entries from yet such as smashysmashy and Jonzu.
-
2 new entries accepted and AI'd:
8.Virus Bomb (AI'd)
9.Lightning S. (AI'd)
-
Once I receive the 10th entry I'm going to give everyone else a week to enter before I close sign-ups, I like to keep my tournaments moving along instead of just having them sit here while people wait.
-
I have officially started attempting to do a thing so I will try to get something entered in the next few days
-
Might enter, not a big fan of AW's, but I'll try.
-
I sent in my MMMeme.
-
Hey Ian can i send you a completely different bot?
-
I'm yet to check out Jamin's entry but it will be the 10th so I will give every else 6 days (I got Jamin's entry yesterday but was without the internet) to get their entries in! Logan if you wish then I (and all others) should be allowed to change our entries. That being said I will allow updates for the next 2 days (over the weekend) only.
-

pretty sure you cant change your own entry
Who made these rules? if everyone else is able to shouldn't I? I mean it's just more work for me as I have to AI new bots, change splashes of the bots and update the entries splash -.-

Sorry but these new rules are just strange, how come the host needs to show their entry but no one else has to until entries are closed? Do people really think the host can come up with a new design that beats all entries they receive? I don't recall click having to do this for BBEANS...
Either way this tournament is not your average battle each other tournament, it has challenges and only the top 4 after those challenges will face off for the title. People have been able to change entries in past tournaments too :/
And even if I change my entry (which I have and have posted for all to see) everyone else can change their entries this weekend... so I don't see how it's unfair.
-
I'm pretty sure the host is unable to change their entry once signups have begun. This is to avoid hosts receiving all the entrants, then changing their bot to one that can beat them all. It keeps the playing field level, since the entrants don't know their opponents for sure either, thus none of the entrants can alter their bots to beat their specific competition.

I see what the rule is meant to prevent but I strongly disagree with it, especially for this kind of tournament. I mean if everyone else gets to see the hosts entry what are the chances of a host ever winning in the future if only they can't change their entry but everyone else can?
In a normal tournament the host can't design an entry in that time to beat all other entries anyway :/
-
Show your entry if you are entering.
Whether you think not being able to change your entry is unfair or not, that's the rule as of the creation of this Signups thread, so it's what you have to go by. If you don't agree with the rule, take it up with G.K. or NFX, but I'm guessing it won't have any effect on this tournament because the rule was established before this tournament was posted. The host could design a bot to generally perform well against 15 others, while entrants can choose to design a bot to beat just the host's vs. designing one to beat 14 unknown other bots...
Also, if you don't want people to be able to update their entries you can just say it in the signup rules...
-
did anyone find the rule on the host not being able to update/change their entry? because I couldn't find one :/
-
That should be a given; there's no point in having to show your entry if you're just going to change it later...
What confuses me is that you said you couldn't change your entry to begin with, so what made you change your mind?
-Can't change my entry! -.-
-

-Can't change my entry! -.-
People have been able to change/update entries for ages, I have changed my BBEANS entry before. I changed my mind when someone else wanted to change their entry, I didn't want to allow changes because it was more work and I had already AI'd the bots and made the splashes.
These new rules are wrong IMO, I will talk to G.K but honestly it seems like the people hosting are getting it tough despite being the ones putting in all the work. Did I miss something while I was away where some host got caught changing their entry to beat certain robots they received or something?
-
Just because the rule seems wrong to you, doesn't mean you can ignore it. You agreed by going through GTM to host that you would follow the rules set. It's the same for everyone.
-
Guys it isn't a bloody rule FFS, YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO CHANGE YOUR ENTRY. quit making stuff up, it's ticking me off. until someone quotes some rule stating you can't change your entry then i will keep it this way.
-
ya know, there isn't any proof that he had listed another bot...
-
If you are all gonna complain about some non-existent rule I'm gonna be posting everyone's entries as I get them, and no one can change their entries. sound fair?
It's a damn shame because I wanted my coolest AW to be shown in this tournament plus logans update was cooler then his original entry too.
-
Guys, calm your damn tits.
The host generally doesn't change his entry so as to not look like a bad sport. Changing it mid-signups makes it look like the host is trying to win the tourney by entering another bot. Keep in mind Click did update his flail hammer in BBEANS 4, but those were minor modifications and the general bot design was retained.
Ian's barely had any revision (an axe head instead of a small wedge), so quit bitching about it and just move on.
Cut it out too, Ian. Blowing this whole issue out of proportion just makes you look like a dick.
-
While it might not be specifically stated that a host can't change their entry, I take it as implied, myself. There's no other reason to have the host show their bot, other than to keep them from changing it later. The host can gain too much advantage from seeing all the entrants, then entering a bot that's going to work well against a majority of the entrants. That's also why I make Ogre make his bot before I show him any other entrant. Granted, a host is slightly at a disadvantage by having to show their entry while nobody else does, but really it's not that big of a deal. If someone entered a bot specifically to beat the host bot, they're probably not going to do to well against the rest.
Personally, the rule (implied or explicit) doesn't bother me in the slightest. I don't ever want to win my own tournament anyway. If I do, I do, it happens. But I'd rather it be another entry that wins. So, any disadvantage I gain from this is just fine by me.
As far as I'm concerned, you're right. It isn't specifically a rule, so you technically can change it. up to you.
My two cents for a one cent price.

My original entry was toy drumset 2, not the original downward spiral though. I'll switch my entry back however logan can keep his changed.
I'm not trying to be like that, but it really has annoyed me that everyone seems to be against me on this. No one has seen the points I've made and no one has quoted this rule that I'm apparently breaking.
I don't want to win my own tournament, I never have I just want to host a fun AW tournament with some new designs and to show off an amazing new arena that trovaner has built specifically for this tournament. If the host has to show his entry then hosts will never win a tournament again.
If you want a fair playing field trust the hosts, we have been doing this for years after all and the current rules means that ANYONE ELSE who enters can change their entry just to beat the host.
While it might not be specifically stated that a host can't change their entry, I take it as implied, myself. There's no other reason to have the host show their bot, other than to keep them from changing it later.

That rule is only there as far as we are all concerned is to prevent the host cheating, however I have stated that ANYONE can change/update their entry this weekend if they wished to do so. I had already posted my entry for all to see and only logan so far chose to update/change his entry. So I could change it but I have to show it or what?
Nope I don't want to annoy people by making it seem like I'm exploiting a loophole so I'm still changing it back to toy drumset 2.
-
I am unaware of any rule stopping you from changing your entry. NFX and I will need to come to a concrete ruling over it though for the future.
-
If there is no rule then it is fine. I was under the impression that it was written somewhere, in fact the wording was more like "Hosts must show their entry before accepting other entries."
-
yes, but that doesn't say he can't change it. We will be clarifying the rule.
-
Any more interest in this? I noticed S_M posted an AW in his showcase, does anyone know if he wants to enter? you all still have 4 days to enter I would love to get more entries, I will keep sign-ups open if there is more interest though.
-
Forgot to mention in the future if there are more Robo Zone tournaments I will most likely add a 1 on 1 challenge which will be scored like all other challenges (time/score based) and will pit entries against a randomly drawn opponent (feels silly for not including it before).
-
Yeah, just testing AIs. I could do with an exact deadline btw. I'm quite busy.
