Title: Ray Rice: The Tournament (yes this is serious)
Post by: helloface on September 29, 2014, 07:14:25 PM
Ray Rice: The Tournament
- Stock Middleweight
- No cheatbot2 parts or custom parts (aside from Smartzones as long as they're not used for ballast/attachment points)
- No out of game modifications
- No Thyrus glitch or Hax mode
- Your bot must show controlled movement.
- Only weapon allowed is Iron Fist (if you want to be lame you can make a flipper)
- Multibots allowed
- I can AI, but I reserve the right to tell you to do it yourself. Don't complain about the AIing if you were too lazy to do it yourself.
- You can change/update your entry after one week of sending it, after that no more updates
- Weight from a smartzone doesn't count towards your total
- Match will restart after one havok; after the second one, the bot that is causing the havoks will be eliminated
- Arena will be reskinned combat arena with increased hazard damage
- Bracket will either be round robin followed by a single elimination final, or double elimination, depending on amounts of entries.
- I will not be entering

You can only use the Iron Fist as the weapon? Interesting, I'll enter. I have thought of making a tournament where you are limited to certain components, but I would like to see how this goes before I even think of doing that.

Let's do it

stock irl, intredasting

I would put a hard limit on the number of iron fists on your bot, so people can't rage about weapon spam and "NOT IRL" like it always happens in IRL.

I would suggest 6 fists maximum, maybe even four.

also you should make a rule forcing people to name their bots with fist- or punch-related names, for lulz.

Wait, where does it say that it has to be IRL?

The first sentence of the OP. Though it is not explicitely put in the rules section, but I assume helloface just forgot.

willing to bet that at least two of the entries are gonna be called Mohammad Ali

Oh, I assumed that as being "I was gonna do IRL, but instead of that..."

It's actually not IRL. I ment I wanted to host a quick tourney to get my host point, so I can host a long term tournament. Anyways I'm adding a poll.

Definitely entering this one. I made a 'The Boxer' themed popup with fists a while back, I'll dig that out and enter it. It won't win, but it will be fun.

Can someone move this to signups?
Title: Re: Ray Rice: The Tournament (yes this is serious)
Post by: Naryar on October 07, 2014, 11:10:02 AM
you have to post your bot before entering signups, I'm afraid. Or say you don't want to participate.

you'll have also to choose what kind of brackets it is, round robin or double elimination, you didn't specify it in the rules.

I am checking the rules and i'm quite sure it is the only problem left, you'll be able to enter signups very soon

It'll depend on the amount of entries, but it seems like it will probably be double elimination.
Title: Re: Ray Rice: The Tournament (yes this is serious)
Post by: cephalopod on October 08, 2014, 11:06:02 AM
Really you need to decide on which bracket you're going for before moving forward.
Title: Re: Ray Rice: The Tournament (yes this is serious)
Post by: helloface on October 08, 2014, 05:09:40 PM
How about 5 entries or less, RR and over 5 DE.
Title: Re: Ray Rice: The Tournament (yes this is serious)
Post by: Naryar on October 08, 2014, 05:43:47 PM
alright, moving that to signups. Make sure to fix the OP before I can post the classical "these are the rules, they cannot change" post.

Pizzaguy2020 recieved. 2 1/2 days left. I might allow late entries depending on how long it takes to reskin the arena and AI.

These are the rules they cannot change rah rah rah.
Also put this tournament up in the Management thread so it technically exists now.

Post by: helloface on October 22, 2014, 05:33:33 PM
Signups are over. I'm not accepting any more entries due to the fact that we have a nice and clean entry size in terms of brackets. As a sidenote, my computer had a close run-in with the Host's Curse again. I left the computer on overnight and there was a power outage and it didn't like rebooting very much. It's running with slightly lower performance at the moment, however it should be alright.

A mixture of issues, sports, and laziness. I've still got a while left though, don't worry.

Since I can't find an elevator skin template type thingy on google and my picture editing/skinning skills are horrid, I'm going to skip the combat arena reskin (plus I was pretty much using it as a reason to procrastinate). I'm going to complete the AIing tomorrow and my goal is to get splashes up by the end of the weekend.
