CHAMPIONSHIP is up!!
RAW Tourney Page (http://raw.gametechmods.com/index.php)
So RAW 1 now comes to close. It's been fun, with many exciting matches and upsets. Even if the championship isn't as exciting as it should be, the rest of the tourney has been great. I expect to begin RAW 2 soon, and it shouldn't be too far away. Until then, congratulations to all participants!

CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!
Watch it!

Mako 4 vs. Good Bye Blue Sky
Well, as this is the second to last fight, why don't you guys just watch it? I'm sure no one reads the summaries and doesn't watch the videos later, especially if it's only one fight.
_____________________________________________________________
Mako 4 vs. Steel Meatball
Woah. Well, this is the only fight to go 5 rounds. Which is pretty cool. First round Mako just kinda dissapeared. I was like "what the heck?" then the screen changes and i see Mako getting struck by lighting in the deep abyss of death and despair and eternalness and the like. So i watched the video in slow-mo, and i see a glimpse of mako flying away from a havok explosion from Meatball's axle. Steel Meatball uses his free restart because it was his axle that cause the explosion. Second round Mako got destroyed. Well at least his front. Mako lost all his hammers, all his wedges, and all his frontal armor. Next fight we see know the genoius of Steel Meatball. He has a last resort weapon to use only if he will lose otherwide: HaVoK. Steel Meatball is one hit away from death, so he sends Mako flying. Becase this is a different round, he gets another free restart. In the fourth round (which is really the second) Mako gets destroyed again. He seemed to be doing pretty well, but then Steel Meatball somehow Takes off THREE of his hammers in ONE HIT. which leaves Mako pretty much open for attack. Last round (finally) Mako gets his revenge, prompty tearing away Meatball's weapons and armor, and soon destroying him. If Mako can fight his was past the loser's bracket, he might just have a chance at the win, if this last round is anything to judge by.
Steel Meatball wins 2-1 with 2 KOs. Mako 4 gets 1 KO.
Good Bye Blue Sky vs. Mutant Dragonfly III
Not as exciting as a semifinal should have been, but a good fight none the less. This is the only round with 4 fights in it. Which is cool. First fight is kinda funny, with GBBS getting stuck on top of mutant. Fight 2 GBBS gets stuck in the floor, warranting a free restart. The next two fights they go more head to head, and Mutant loses his hammers, and GBBS slowy kills him. Theres a funny part where Mutant has no weapons and rams GBBS, which take saway like most of Mutants health. I was like "Haha sucks for you."
Good Bye Blue Sky wins 2-1 with 2 KOs. Mutant Dragonfly III gets 1 TKO.
_______________________________________________________________________
obZen vs. Mutant Dragonfly III
Ugh. There are many words to describe this fight, but this seemed most appropriate. Ugh. I have to say it again. So. I added silent commentary during the video, which pretty much sums up the whole fight. Go watch it, not that long. Looks like r0b0 won't live to fight get revenge on Naryar after all.
Mutant Dragonfly wins 2-1 with 2 WBP. obZen gets 1 TKO.
Infernal Contraption vs. Good Bye Blue Sky
I hate GBBS. I mean, the design's fine. Cool skin. Phil's a nice guy. I'm sure he didnt mean for every match GBBS is in to be SO. DAMN. BOOOOORING!!! AHHHHH!! :'( You guys got off easy. I shortened the vid exponentially for you. But not me. I had to sit thorugh 9 grueling minutes of NOTHING. (and in real time, thats like 25 minutes because of lag) All three fights have GBBS winning by points because Infernal contraption isn't powerful enough to break through GBBS's underside defenses. Too bad.
Good Bye Blue Sky wins 3-0 with 3 WBP.
_________________________________________________________
Good Bye Blue Sky vs. Steel Meatball
Is steel meatball frickin' invincible? That's what it seems like. The beginning of each fight is great, but GBBS loses ALL of its 60KG hammers and both its spikes while Steel meatball barely loses any spikes at all. He did lose a few in the third fight, but it didnt help GBBS out much. Yea, i skinned the spikes for a more christmas green feel.
Steel Meatball wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
Mako 4 vs. Mutant Dragonly III
To put it simply, Mako's wedges are superior, and with no bottom protection, Mutant quickly loses all three fights.
Mako 4 wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
obZen vs. Deprivator
I wasn't sure what to expect in this round. We know obZen lost first round, but it seemed to be bad luck. Turned out, it was. First two fights Obzen somehow takes aoff a wheel, or flips deprivator for a TKO. Last fight it looked like deprivator was getting completely owned. I have to say, Deprivators luck comes back 10 fold after losing its first two fights. Deprivator is flaming, and almost dead when obZen somehow slams itself into the wall, and because of its springy wedges, basically bounces off the wall and lands on its butt. It can't self-right from there because of the wall. Lucky litle devil, that deprivator. too little too late though.
obZen wins 2-1 with 2 KOs. Deprivator gets 1 TKO
Lu-Tze vs. Infernal Contraption
InfCon carries on HazCon's legendary name of "Comeback Guy." I could have sworn Lu would win after a certain point in each fight. But no! In the first fight, InfCon flips over. After taking a beating, he gets back up and slowly widdles away Lu's health until he kills it. The second fight was amazing. Lu-tze kicked the crap out of InfCon, leaving him with barely ANY health. Then, InfCon gets back up, and I was like NO. FREAKIN. WAY. Then it looks like the end for Lu-Tze, with InfCon directly under him. BUT NO! And at this point i was like 0.0 just staring at the screen, not able to take any more twists. But this time Lu-Tze gets the KO. Third fight was short and deadly. Best first hit ever!
Infernal Contraption wins 2-1 with 2 KOs. Lu-Tze gets 1 KO
_______________________________________________________________
The Hum Drums vs. obZen
I will miss the little guys... They got destroyed in each fight with no mercy. The second fight was the closest, but still not much of a chance.
obZen wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
Deprivator vs. Classy Paintjob!
First round Dep gets a nasty hit on Classy, and because of Classy's weak armor, has no trouble killing him. As for the second round, it's pretty much the same as the first. The last round Classy does put up much more of a fight, taking off Dep's front plate and one of the side plows, as well as damaging Dep a good amount. But in the end, Dep gets the kill.
Deprivator wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
Pinball vs. Lu-Tze
Kinda a slow fight, so i skipped a lot of the middle section so you guys wouldnt get bored. Basically, in the first round, they both lose a wheel, and beause Piinball isn't invertible, he rarely ever gets to spin, and just gets knocked around until Lu-Tze wins by points. As for the second round, HELL YEAH! The third round basically same as first, just with Lu-Tze getting a KO instead of a WBP.
Lu-Tze wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 WBP. Pinball gets 1 TKO.
Infernal Contraption vs. Psi
The better wedge won in the first fight. Second and third fights psi got under, then flipped himself backwards while InfCon stayed upright. InfCon proves that he gets under you, you almost certainly lose.
Infernal Contraption wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
____________________________________________________________________________
Morse Code Breaker vs. obZen
First two fights obzen got under MCB, but MCB got counted out both times because it got tipped over. Third fight obzen flipped himself and MCB started doing some major damage, until obzen righted and slowly killed MCB by smashin his front.
obZen wins 3-0 with 2 TKOs and 1 KO.
Classy Paintjob! vs. Far Cry
Classy pulls off a major upset here. First fight Classy flips Far cry and he ends on his side for a immobilization. The next fight Classy got some MAJOR hits on FarCry's chassis, and ends in a KO for Classy. Third fight was more exciting, with both bots losing most of their hammers, until classy, with one hammer left, finally gets the kill.
Classy Paintjob! wins 3-0 with 2 KOs and 1 TKO
Lu-Tze vs. Thor 3
Good fight. First one both bots flipped over, and Lu-Tze knocks off one of Thors skirt, which aslo includes a motor and 2 hammers. After a long fight where noth much happens, the countdown timer starts for both of them. Lu-Tze gets out of it, but with only 2 seconds left Thor isn't quick enough. He doesn't get a free restart cause his battery was less then half full. Second fight, Thor 3 got utterly destroyed in the beginning. He then got half a chance, and did a decent amount of damage before Lutze finished him off. Last fight Thor had no chance, and Lu-Tzee actually hit him so hard he flew OOTA.
Lu-Tze wins 3-0 with 2 TKOs and 1 KO.
Psi vs. Smoker's Revenge
Well, one thing i can say is Smoker did not get his revenge. Psi schooled Smoker in a very fast manner. First fight ran 8 seconds. Second fight was a little more exciting, and Psi actually lost a drum. Still won though. Third fight was the same as the first, except only 7 seconds.
Psi wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
___________________________________________________________________
Deprivator vs. Good Bye Blue Sky
Dep gets under GBBS first round and stays there until eventually tearing off one of the tank treads. From there they drive in circles with Dep scratching GBBS's side until he finally gets a KO. Second Match is more in GBBS's favor, and he pounds off all Dep's razors and gets a KO with 6 secons left on the clock. Third match is like the second, except it ends 39 seconds earlier.
Good Bye Blue Sky wins 2-1 with 2 KOs. Deprivator gets 1 KO.
Steel Meatball vs. Hum-Drums
I was pulling for the little guys on this one, but alas, they didn't win. Each match LOOKS like the hums will get a quick KO, but then they lose their wheels and it all goes downhill from there. Smaller wheels next time condor33.
Steel Meatball wins 3-0 with 1 TKO and 2 KOs.
Infernal Contraption 2 vs. Mako 4
I was really excited for this fight, and it definitly didn't dissapoint. Well, the first fight was kinda weird actually. Mako somehow gets stuck on top of InfCon's plow, and since it cant move, it gets counted out. Next fight was awesome. From the beginning it looked like Infcon had it won, with it chewing at mako's undersides in a corner. But then, InfCon has to retreat because the timer started! This gives Mako the chance he needs to get under InfCon, and now I'm certain Mako has it won, what with his pounding on InfCon. But NO! Mako loses a hammer, making it just unstable enough to not be able to finish InfCon off completely. Both draind of power, and, in InfCon's case, a few wheels, the timer gets down to zero, which makes Mako the winner by points. Now the last fight... InfCon once again starts out under Mako, but thanks to Mako's very nice bottom protection, InfCon barely leaves a mark. Mako the gets under InfCon, and after much pounding, gets the KO it missed out on in the first 2 fights. There is a funny moment where it looks like InfCon is farting fire in Makos face... you'll see what i mean if you watch it...
Mako 4 wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 WBP. Infernal Contraption 2 gets 1 TKO.
Pinball vs. Mutant Dragonfly III
First fight looked like pinball was gonna win, with a massive hit in the very beginning. after that pinball loses both his hammers while Mutant loses one. Still armed with blades, pinball gets some nice hits on Dragonfly's chassis, but then somehow flings himself over Dragonfly AND the wall, giving Mutant a TKO. >.<. Next fight both bots lose both hammers and pinball loses one blade... but ends up getting a KO with the one remaining blade! Third fight i was really hoping i wouldnt go OOTA again... but alas, i jumped up to the wall and bounced out. too bad.
Mutant Dragonfly III wins 2-1 with 2 TKOs. Pinball gets 1 KO.
obZen vs. Blah
Quick match. Blah's spinup time is way to long for the speedy popup, and all three fights give obzen a quick KO, second match a one hit KO.
obZen wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
Thor 3 vs. Daisy Might
I know which bot's gonna win BTRSHDBBDDTBL... that disc of Daisy's is like 3.14-ston's bracket wedge in BBEANS 3. once destroyed, hes done for, and unfortunatly it happens a lot. first fight actually thor 3 glitches, so it gets a free restart. the next matches daisy isn't so lucky, and loses. first fight actually thor traps daisy against a wall for a tko, but then later he gets his disc knocked off in the second and third fights. third figth was really funny though. Daisy uses it's knocked off disc as a sheild for most of the match. i mean its really weird.
THor 3 wins 3-0 with 1 TKO and 2 KOs.
Speed KING vs. Smoker's Revenge
LONGEST MATCH EVER!!!! THREE WBPs!!!! THREEE!!!!
i actually sped it up almost double, and the whole videos still over 9 minutes long. (FRAPS slows down the game a bit). oh well. still fun to watch. they keep trading blows and losing weapons, with smoker coming out on top with usually one hammer left. just watch the match if you want to know more detail...
Smoker's Revenge wins 3-0 2ith 3 WBP.
Epic Flailure vs. Lu-Tze
long match, but exciting. first match Epic just starts wailing on Lu, and looks like Epic has it in the bag. But then, the tables turn, and Lu is pounding on Epic. From there, Lu-Tze is in a race against the clock to finish Epic off before time runs out. He barely makes it, with 2 seconds left to spare. the next fight goes pretty much the same, but more boring. Epic doesn't get many good hits, and Lu wins by points. Third fight Epic Gets his revenge, with a TKO. i swear though, a few more seconds and it would have been a KO. watch and you'll see what i mean.
Lu-Tze wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 TKO. Epic Flailure gets 1 TKO.
Daisy Might vs. Destroyer HPBL
Fun match, with a really interesting third fight. In Fight one, HPBL can't do much against Daisy's awesome might, and ends up losing a hammer. It then gets stuck on its own blade, and gets counted out for a TKO win for Daisy. Second fight basically the same, cept i could have sworn after the first few seconds that Destroyer would win. He gets a nice hit, which pops Daisy up, and almost knocks Daisy out of the arena 2-3 times. Then loses a hammer and its all over. Now for the third match, where the weird stuff always happens. After the first hit, it looks like the fight is going to Daisy again. but then, with a powerful stroke, Destroyer smacks Daisy right of of it's shell, showing the tiny chassis underneath. (Wizard of Oz, anyone?) He proceeds to knock off a drive motor then the dual perm. The next hit is kinda odd though. After the hammer connects with the chassis, nearly KOing it in one blow, the screen goes dark and we see a lightning bolt. The lightning mean Daisy went out of the arena. Since it IS a havok you might think i need a restart. I think since it wasn't match affecting, it doesn't. Daisy would have been destroyed or eliminated anyways, with no weapons to speack of. I think it was because the hammer was larger then the chassis. (Nasty Pickle does the same thing)
Daisy Might wins 2-1 with 2 TKOs. Destroyer gets 1 TKO.
Facemelikeaman vs. Speed KING
*See FMLAM vs Pinball* Basiclly everything in that fight, cept not as cool. First fight is similar, with a KO for Speedy. Second fight sucks. Face loses a wheel, ans spins the whole rest of the match until the timer runs out. I hate WBPs. So boring to film. Third fight is like a mix of the first 2. Really long, but ends in a KO.
Speed KING wins 3-0 with 2 KOs and one TKO.
Psi vs. Shadow
Before you say anything about Psi, lemme explain. He looks a little different because there was a glitch in his wedge, so I let Inf fix him a bit. Since it was my fault for not noticing, i let him fix it. I let the extra armor slide because of the inconvienence. To be fair, though, i did not re-record the fight vs. steel meatball. If you have any problems with this decision, feel free to talk to me about it. The fight itself was alright. I sped up the beginning because it was really laggy for some reason. First and second fight Shadow falls on its spikes and can't move, resulting in TKOs. Third fight Psi gets a KO, finally.
Psi wins 3-0 with 2 TKOs and 1 KO.
Loser Bracket 1_______________________________________
Far Cry vs. Lousy Launcher
Worst fight of the tourney. watch if you want to. not even gonna bother with a summary.
Far Cry wins 3-0 with 1 KO and 2 WBP (yea, the timer ran out. Twice.)
TORQUE vs. Classy Paintjob!
sorta a boring match, but some really cool hits here and there, like 2 ninjas fighting eachother with fierce sword blows. first fight TORQUE loses 2 of his hammers but still manages to finish Classy off. Second fight was really long and boring because classy had 2 hammers most of the time and was reall wobbly while torque, who had lost all his stuff, was upside down spinning around on the little extender that attached the motor. classy finally got 2 chassis crippling hits in, and won with a KO. last fight was like the 2nd, cept a bit cooler. torque holds on to one hammer for a while, and does some nice damageand actually delivers a nice hit with his TRIBAR, before it gets knocked off, after that, its boring. there was one moment where i thought it was finally going to end, but torque just gets punted across the arena, and i had to wait another minute (game time, more like 3 in real time) before the timer ran out. i was pissed.
Classy Paintjob! wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 TKO. TORQUE gets 1 KO.
obZen vs. Archimandrite V
My FAVORITE match of the tourney. First round was not as good as the last 2. Some pretty cool hits though, and the fight could have gone either way, but ended with obZen getting stuck on his own srimech and losing by TKO. the next fight was sweet! obZen charges, blasts, scores! one hit knocks Archy out of the ballpark. On par with that one fight between Infcon and Skurge. The next fight looks like the 2nd, but Archy doesnt quite get over. so obZen chases him down to the other corner. However, Archy doesn't go easily this time, and bounces arounf the outside until he gets to the far wall, where we see the 'hidden' hazard: an infinite abyss! he falls down, and gets zapped by a ray of light for the kill. Now that's what i call cool.
obZen wins 2-1 with 2 TKOs. Archimandrite V gets 1 TKO.
Skurge vs. Morse Code Breaker
First round skurge got stuck in Breaker's saws, and got his chinny-chin-chin shaven until he died. second round, skurge knocks Breaker off his wheels, and looks like he's gonna win. But then the immoblizer starts counting and skurge has to get outta there, giving morse the chance to start chewing him up again. Breaker gets stuck against a wall and gets counted out after about a minute of pushing, which i editted out. Last round Breaker, after a long round of boring, chews Skurges topside.
Morse Code Breaker wins 2-1 with 2 KOs. Skurge gets 1 TKO.
Round2 Bracket 1____________________________
Skurge vs. Infernal Contraption 2
Big surprise here! For one thing, Skurge has a better wedge then InfCon, and the first fight InfCon flies right off it like a ramp, and with a small hit from skurge, falls right out of the arena! However, the next 2 fights Skurge isnt as lucky, and InfCon eventually gets under and destroys Skurge.
Infernal COntraption wins 2-1 with 2 KOs. Skurge gets 1 TKO.
Mako 4 vs. Blah
Not much to say here. Blah doesnt have time to speed up, and Mako gets under and hammers until Blah dies. I don't even think Blah knoced off a single part.
Mako 4 Wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
Pinball vs. Classy Paintjob!
Pinball has a low weapon, which grants him some very nice hits and ends in a KO for Pinball in the first round. The next 2 rounds Classy gets wobbly and somehow knoks himself OOTA. It doesn't look like a Havok to me, just a very powerful weapon motor hitting in just the right spot.
Pinball wins 3-0 with 1 KO and 2 TKOs.
Far Cry vs. Mutuant Dragonfly III
This was a pretty cool fight. I didnt expect what happened. First round, Farcry gets under and holds Dragonfly against the wall, slowly smashing it's health away until it gets KOed. The next 2 fights, however, end with Dragonfly getting a good hit right away, making FarCry wobbly and off balance. Dragonfly seizes this chance, and attackes FarCry's chassis for the win.
Mutant Dragonfly III wins 2-1 with 2 KOs. Far Cry gets 1 KO.
Round 2 Bracket 1______________________________________________
Epic Flailure vs. good bye blue sky
First right, GBBS climbs Epic's wedge and stops its hammer from firing, until the extender finally breaks. Not able to do sufficient damage, GBBS wins with a WBP. The next fight looks like it will be the same, until Epic somehow stops GBBS from riding up its wedge by pushing it against a wall, and is able to get a KO before GBBS can recuperate. Third fight almost exactly like the first one.
GBBS wins 2-0 with 2 WBP. Epic Flailure gets 1 KO.
Deprivator vs. Thor 3
Deprivator gets under Thor every bout, and smashes the side of the chassis with the wheel on it, ending in a KO. All three fights are almost EXACTLY the same, even the side of the chassis where Deprivator hits the chassis.
Deprivator wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
Hum-Drums vs. Smoker's Revenge
I loved this fight. First fight humdrums are able to wedge under and get the kill against Smoker. However, the next match went like i thought it would: Smoker pulverizing and leaving the humdrums destroyed and immbolized in a smoldering heap. (Literally, they both caugh fire and ended in the same spot 0.o) I was in total suspense for Fight 3... So you are too! go watch!
Smoker gets 1 TKO, Humdrums get 1 KO, winner is ___________ 2-1.
Steel Meatball vs. Psi
No matter how fast Psi is, it can't stay under Meaty long enough to do enough damage for a KO. Meaty eventually wears down Psi's armor, and gets a KO each round.
Steel Meatball wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
Round 1 Bracket 2______________________________
Lu-Tze vs Infernal Contraption 2
IF2 outswedges Lu-Tze every time, handing IF2 the win by slowly chewing Lu's health for 2 fights. Third match they both flip and InfCon can't move, getting immobilized.
Infernal Contraption win 2-1 with 2 KO's. Lu-Tze gets 1 TKO.
Mako 4 vs Destroyer HPBL
Mako 4 is just too fast for Destroyer to spin up to top speed. All three fights are reminiscent of eachother, with Mako jamming Destroyer's weapon, then later getting under and hammering the back and underside. There was a hint of hope in the third fight where they were both getting counted out and Des. had some time to spin up. Alas, it couldnt lift mako up, and he lost eventually.
Mako 4 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Daisy Might vs Blah
If there was ever a god of luck, it was DEFINITLY on Blah's side this fight. Not once, not twice, but three times he knocked off Daisy' whole shell, exsposing the tiny chassis and big motor. Blah usually ends up on his back after this hit, making for incredibly long matches. In the third fight, Blah didnt knock off the sheel with the first hit like the other 2 fights, and it looked liked Daisy might not be cheated this time. But after 2 more hits, there goes his disc.
Blah wins 3-0 with 2 TKO's and 1 WBP
Speed KING vs. Classy Paintjob!
Long, drawn out matches all about the same thing. Speedy gets a near fatal hit on Classy right away, then loses both hammers while knocking off one of Classy's hammers, making it wobbly. Classy wins the first 2 matches by points. Third match Speedy finally gets a KO.
Classy Paintjob! wins 2-1 with 2 WBP. Speed KING gets 1 KO.
Facemelikeaman vs. Pinball
As expected, Pinball gets a clean sweep. Near fatal hit right away, then gets the KO sooner or later (usually sooner). Fun fight to watch.
Pinball wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
FarCry vs. Shadow
FarCry easily gets under shadow everytime, and the matches end with Farcry getting a ko by hammering the bottom and back. Shadow protects itself with its spikes, but to no avail.
Farcry wins 3-0 with 3 KOs.
Round 1 Bracket 1__________________________________________________
Good Bye Blue Sky vs. Morse Code Breaker
Nothing much to tell. MCB isn't powerful enough to push GBBS up its wedge, so it slowly gets its health sapped by GBBS's strong frontal weapon.
GBBS wins with 3 ko's. 3-0
obZen vs. Deprivator
Big upset here! obZen looks like its gonna be easy when he gets under Deprivator in the first fight, but then we see how after Dep. slides up the wedge, he wedges under obZen's armor, and there razors attack eachother for a while. By sheer numbers of razors and luckiness, Deprivator win with 1 TKO and 1 KO. obZen gets 1 WBP. 2-1
Archimandrite V vs. Thor 3
Sorry H@zm47, but Archy has some troubles with instability. he flips himself right whel the match starts. the first fight drags on for a while, ending with a wheel-less Thor getting flipped out for a TKO. The next match is even longer, with both bots on their last wheels, and Thor getting a WBP. The third match is more exciting, as Thor decimates the front armor and weapon of Archi, and goes in for a nice clean KO.
Thor 3 wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 WBP. Archimandrite gets 1 TKO.
Hum-Drums vs. T O R Q U E
I loved this fight. with some AI issues, the Hum bros start out driving kinda weird, but that doesn't stop them! In the first fight, Torque hands some massive damage down to one of the Hums, but they get him with a KO in the end. The next fight was insane, with a single HUm-Drum taking out Torque by itself in a matter of seconds. Third fight ends pretty much like the first 2, but the Hums fight most of it upside down. Once they right themselves, Torque is toast.
Hum-Drums win with 3 KOs. 3-0
Steel Meatball vs. Lousy Launcher
Nothing much to say here. All three fights go the same way, with Lousy failing to get a good wedge on Meatball, and Meatball killing it eventually. Nice hit in the third fight though at the beginning.
-
I think it looks pretty good, and shouldn't the new version of the bot I sent in be used for the splash? [in this page of the showcase https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1025&page=4 (https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1025&page=4), should be around the middle of the page]
And almost all of the bots in here look really good to me.
-
Daisy Might_50, FarCry, and BLAH look scary.
I can also picture Morse Code Breaker getting a few wins.
Arene't those the stock extenders on Facemelikeaman?
-
I'm wondering how well the new design for Mako will do, can it self right itself, and how powerful are the weapons?
-
Wow so many good competitors! This will be a very good tourney
Mako 4: Looks scary like a typical Jules VS. The weapons look powerful but the wedges look kinda frail.
Archimandrite V: My entry.:D The weapon is damn powerful but it is naturally unstable and won't turn quickly enough. I hope to do better than I did in BBEANS with this one.
Lousy Launcher: Should make good use of the low-ish walls with those flippers. It looks damn quick as well so it should go far.
Speed King: I'm not sure how this one will go to be quite honest. 6WD will make it a deadly SnS IMO but the exposed wheels are weak and may come off if something can get to it.
Destroyer: Another dual perm powered VS apart from mine. Interesting stability control in the DSL Bars however the exposed dual perm is just begging to be hit by another VS.
GoodBye Blue Sky: Powerful weapon. Exposed treads may be ripped off but it looks like it will try to keep the opponent infront of him judging by the positions of the Smart Zones
Facemelikeaman: Hmmm... Dubious ground clearance and weak weapons aren't a good combination. Those are stock extenders, Jules (Unless they've been re-skinned).
Thor 3: This entry scares me but I can't figure out why... the weapons look very powerful but the weapon motors are exposed so they may fall off and then placing them on the skirts makes them quite susceptible targets.
Lu-Tze: Looks very fast and the weapon looks powerful if the wedge can get under anything.
Pinball: Reminiscent of Inertial Deathlock III from BBEANS 2 but capitalizes on most of it's weaknesses. It should go places.
Infernal Contraption: If HazCon is anything to go by, this bot is one of my faves to win this tourney. Super fast and deadly looking.
Skurge: Interesting idea but i think the large exposed chassis and wheels is a huge weakness to its potential
PSI: This bot has potential but the weapons look frail and may fall off after a couple of hits lowering it's effectiveness.
FarCry: This is one mean looking bot. The weapons look so strong and powerful. Another potential winner for me.
Smoker's Revenge: Polycarb skirts may as well not be there. In a HW tourney they'll fall of very easily. Strong weapons will do damage to who ever tries to rip them off I think.
Classy Paintjob: VERY large chassis. The weapons barely reach outside of the bot. But they are powerful weapons though, who knows?
T O R Q U E: If i'm not mistaken that weapon is powered by a chained Tornado Mer and 6-Mag Gearbox. If it is that is one scary HS that I know my bot will suffer against if it comes across it. All VSs should fear this bot.
obZen: Judging on how well enfilad3 is going in BBEANS at the moment, this bot may do quite well. It looks very well armored for a popup.
Morse Code Breaker: Kinda like Gammaraze 3 right? Looks very deadly though I'm not sure what the skirts are doing to help the machine...
Deprivator: Another popup but not nearly as well armored as obZen. The chassis is kinda boxy as well making a large target.
Epic Flailure: I found the weapon system of System Flailure almost hypnotic, it was a great thing to watch. Very fast and well armored, Epic Flailure looks very good.
Shadow: Very compact. A nice bot and the weapons look deadly hopefully it's quick to put that wedge into good use.
Hum-Drums: Interesting. A multi-bot can be effective but the lowered weight means the armor is weaker. Good thing the chassis are small-ish (judging from the wheel choice).
P-AI-Daisy Might_50: Oh wow madiaba...(https://gametechmods.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif) This bot looks so deadly especially with the dual perm. If on the seemingly off chance it gets flipped though it doesn't look like it can self right. This will go far I would imagine.
BLAH: Powerful weapons make it scary but it has a very large chassis that is greatly exposed.
Steel Meatball: Flail weapons have been greatly effective on Iron Spaghetti so far so this bot should go far to. I would be worried about Havok Explosions with all those axles though...
Mutant Dragonfly III: Piston/rammer hybrid is an interesting idea especially with those devastating hammers on it. Watch out for this bot, it may cause an upset somewhere along the line.
Who has a chance to win:
Infernal Contraption
T O R Q U E
Morse Code Breaker
FarCry
Pinball
obZen
P-AI-Daisy Might_50

The Dual Perm actually has stayed on pretty well against the AI, I think that Mako has been the only one that has knocked it off, but I have usually knocked off one of the wedges and a couple hammers by that time. But I think that it will get knocked off in one of these fights.
And Sage, do you mind if I post the videos with my bot on my YouTube Account after they go up?
-
And Sage, do you mind if I post the videos with my bot on my YouTube Account after they go up?
Me too please.
-
Sorry for the Stock extenders, I just Downloaded the Components for DSL. I've now begun to use the No graphics pack.
-
If sage allowed it, it must be OK
-
Mako 4: Looks good, the small VS aren't going to be blocked, good thing. Better defense too. I'm not sure about these wedges, but Jules is a VS specialist after all.
Archimandrite: Pretty neat. Hey these wedges are DOAM's ! Good small chassis. The only thing I don't like about this bot is these steel skirts for wheel guards.
Lousy Launcher: I don't like flippers, but that wedge looks nice.
Speed King: Hmm... too much wheels IMO. 4WD with grippier wheels would be better.
Destroyer: Looks really nice. I don't see flaws in that bot... perhaps empty space and low defense?
Goodbye Blue Sky: Nearly BrasOuvert, but bigger. I'm pretty sure this bot has few empty space. Definitely lacks a wedge. Neat small chassis.
Facemelikeaman: NOS-BOT. Empty space.
Thor 3: Nice, but I think the big wheels and the wedge could be better.
Lu-Tze: Too fast IMO, but if that wedge is good, then that bot will own.
Pinball: That "srimech" won't last long, but Sage isn't an average builder.
InfCon: Won't do as well as HazCon. Still has a good wedge. These teeth on the sides are nearly useless.
Skurge: If this wedge is good then it's decent, if then... at least it's better than FMLAM.
PSI: Nice. I'm not sure about the wedge again, but it's Inf.
Far Cry: Lacks side defense and these wheels aren't grippy, but otherwise that wedge looks nice and he is definitely good in the offense department.
Smoker's Revenge: I really like that bot. The only thing that I dare to criticize is the possibly slow spinup time.
Classy Paintjob: Is it me or this is a contest of big chassis? But IMO it isn't the worst bot in all the tourney.
T O R Q U E: If these are chained 6 mag gearboxes, this bot will own. But these flipper parts are an Achilles heel.
Obzen: Just great. This is my favorite.
Morse Code Breaker: I like the design, but I don't see the point of these steel skirts in the bot and it will suffer from it's lack of wedges.
Deprivator: Offense and defense look great; but it can't be fast and as said Click, 4WD HW popups are 16 million times better than 2WD ones.
Epic Flailure: I would have prefered two hammers, but nevermind.
Shadow: Really cool-looking, but a wedge with that component isn't going to be efficient against other wedges.
Hum-Drums: Aaah... nice small chassis, how refreshing. Although aluminium isn't an efficient armor, and these wheels are easy targets.
P-AI-Daisy Might 50: WTF! How can that thing not be underpowered? But if it's not, then it's a great bot.
BLAH: Name is awesome. Really looks like you were pissed off when you made this bot, Pys...
Steel Meatball: That looks nice, if he fairs as well as his little brother...
Mutant Dragonfly: Oh yeah! Only thing I have to criticize is that these weapons aren't numerous enough.
Possible finalists: Obzen, PSI, Daisy Might, Smoker's Revenge, Mako 4.
-
Facemelikeaman: Two words: NOS-BOT, with empty space.
Yeah, I can fit 5 Black batteries in there
NOS-BOT wasn't as fast as this.
-
woot! getting exited now :d
-
Yeah, I can fit 5 Black batteries in there
NOS-BOT wasn't as fast as this.
I think he meant it looked as well built as NOS-BOT...
-
Im not gonna do a long list of all, but a few that caught my eye:
T O R G U E: Snapper loaded 2x 6 gear mag motors?! OMG! (see how the other mag motor is sticing out of the chassis, it has to be snapper/servo loaded)
Mako 4: Nice and effective desing once again Jules.
P-AI-Daisy Might 50: Looks damn dangerous, but my guess is, that its batteries wont last even 1.5 minutes.
Hum-Drums: Nice, havent seen a dual bot in a while.
BLAH: Looks like it has alot of emty space, but it most likely is powered by dualperm and lotsa batteries. Making it a fearful bot.
-
I would like to inform you all that I have NEVER lost a perm without losing a skirt sith it, and those sirts survive MULTIPLE Mako hits in testing. The wheels were never removed either.
Ice the Frosty Cat: Wasn't that your May BOTM entry?
Bots I Know I can beat
Lousy Laucher
Speed King
Facemelikeaman
Lut-ze
Skurge
PSI
Classy Paintjob
Morse Code Breaker
Deprivator
obzen
Epic Flailure
Shadow
Hum Drums
Steel Meatball
Mutant Dragonfly III
What you all can't see is the Titanium sheets on the top and bottom of the bot, with each having 12000 hitpoints
Predictions
Mako 4: And I thought my bot was heavily armored, this bot should go very far, with its tough weapons and impenetrable armor.
Archimandrite V: A very powerful VS with a great design, making the Dual Perm hard to hit, this bot should do well.
Lousy Launcher: I am surprised that this is the only flipper in the tourney. Alot of open chassis space though, and I am worried that the polycarbonate wedges are a little weak, and might not be very wedgy.
Speed King: Wheels are a little exposed, but should be a quick SnS. Robot X Swords are Weight Wasters to me.
Destroyer: The Bars will be susceptible to wedges, and the Dual Perm is begging to be hit, but it should be powerful.
Goodbye Blue Sky: a HW BrasOuvert. Tough hammers at the front, but better side protection in the treads. Could be a dark horse
Facemelikeaman: I don't think that these UNBALANCED STOCK PARTS are fair. They should be fixed before Facemelikeaman can compete. It will not go far anyways though.
Thor 3: I know that this bot is better than all of you think, because I built it. It has superior armor all around, and the wheels are not a problem. Should win some matches. I also put in some extra stuff such as doubling the bars on the spinners and making it invertible.
Lut-ze: A very good bot, but a little fast and might have wedge problems.
Pinball: A fixed Inertial Deathlock III, should go very far, as long as it faces bots it is good against (unlike IDIII)
Infernal Contraption: One of the favorites to win the tourney, if Hazcon has any indication.
Skurge; This bot has good drive and okay weapons, but the disc part should be farther out. This bot will not do well.
PSI: A heavily guarded bot, but weak in the weapons department. Will not get many KOs, though it could be like a RRG?.
Far Cry: A very good and heavily armored VS. Should go far.
Smoker's Revenge: A VERY good HS, and should go far. The skirts are nothing to worry about.
Classy Paintjob: Too big of a chassis, though it is probably hiding a Dual Perm. Something tells me that this bot will not go far.
T O R Q U E: You just love that spacebar between letters Gigafrost. If a hammer comes off because of a flipper part this bot will mauler dance for a LONG time.
Obzen: A very good Popup, and should do well.
Morse Code Breaker: Kind of like a Gammaraze, but the lack of skirts, armor on the wedge, or bigger grippier wheels will be its downfall.
Deprivator: Good protection with the Titanium Sheets and snowplows, a good popup.
Epic Flailure: SF's older brother, weapon is not much more powerful though.
Shadow: A good VS, but exposed motors and not good wedge will doom this bot.
Hum-Drums: A couple of adequate MW's make up the okay tandem. Wheels will be a problem though.
P-AI-Daisy Might-50: WOW, I would have lined up the hammers on this phenomonal spinner.
BLAH: Nice name, nicer bot. Should go very far with this devastating weapon.
Steel Meatball: Should do about as good as it's smaller brother, but should still go far.
Mutant Dragonfly III: Tough weapons, and all-around good bot.
Bots that will go far:
Mako 4
Archimandrite V
Destroyer
Thor 3
Infernal Contraption
Far Cry
Smoker's Revenge
T O R Q U E
Obzen
P-AI-Daisy Might-50
BLAH
Dark Horses:
Mutant Dragonfly III
Steel Meatball
Shadow
Pinball
Lut-ze
Lousy Launcher

My design is almost the complete opposite of Mako. While still being a VS ofcourse.
The weapons will most likely not be knocking anything out of the arena, most likely grinding other bots down. But, it is very well armored, stable, and has some of the best wedges I have made.
Self righting is kind of iffy.
-
WHy do I suddenly thing I'm going to get slaughtered? *wince* These HS are going to kill me. Nice bots though:-D
-
There are very few bad ones *cough*facemelikeaman*cough*
When will the vids start, or the brackets be up?
-
Sage said it would take him 1 week to do the splash and 1 week to AI.
However, because the splash was finished so quickly I would say this time next week we may have some video. A week and a half from now at most IMO.
-
I am wondering how much damage mine will be able to take, I use 3mm Titanium armor, and that is usually enough because I get quick knock outs with that weapon that gets a lot of points per hit, and is powerful enough to throw Mako around. The biggest problem I will have is if I get flipped over, and my weapon hits the wall, which will throw me out of the arena.
I stopped this as much as I could by having the blade spin Clockwise and Counter Clockwise, but I don't think that the AI is smart enough to do that.
-
Wow, some cool bots. It's hard for me to guess among the apparently better ones, because I can't see what's inside them. And then there's luck...
Daisy Might: I'd been working (in all my free time) on this arena and BOTM entry, so I'd hardly had time to actually make/tweak a bot for the Tourney. That's an older pic of Daisy Might under construction. It only had 1 bat in it at that time, but now added another and tweaked the hammers some.
But it's weaknesses I can see from some limited testing are:
1. It's armor is only dsa.
2. It may get flipped (via flipper or powerful VS) out of this low-walled arena (I'll complain to the arena-maker).
3. Luck. (as mentioned, probably the biggest variable. :?)
(Edit: Splash Bot pic is now current.)
-
Now that I think about it, I think I did not change the armor... So mine has DSA, its still as good as in stock right? Better than 1mm steel?
-
Now that I think about it, I think I did not change the armor... So mine has DSA, its still as good as in stock right? Better than 1mm steel?
I dont think so, I thought DSA was disabled in DSL.
-
The Dual Perm actually has stayed on pretty well against the AI, I think that Mako has been the only one that has knocked it off, but I have usually knocked off one of the wedges and a couple hammers by that time. But I think that it will get knocked off in one of these fights.
And Sage, do you mind if I post the videos with my bot on my YouTube Account after they go up?
i dont think i have your newest version. since i must have missed it, i will allow you to send it. but the splash picture will remain the same. and sure you can post videos on youtube.
-
Psi was more an experiment to see if heavy armor good drive and good wedges could out maneuver the slower heavier weaponed bots. Trust me I have better HW's I could have entered.
-
Note to self: Next Competition, Build somthing that is good...
-
Now that I think about it, I think I did not change the armor... So mine has DSA, its still as good as in stock right? Better than 1mm steel?
oohh ouch. click said theres still dsa, but its horribly weak compared to the other armors.
EDIT: i posted the splash at like 12:30 last night, and now i have 3 pages. awesome.
-
Mi bowt will own all 0f urs tehehhee.
-
My expertise in DSL is little to none, but here are my predictions anyways:
Bots to watch:
Mako 4-Whatever the heck this thing is, it looks scary.
Thor 3- Decent weapons, decent skirts.
Pinball- We all know how scary Haymaker is, and this bot will be no different. My only concern is the low walls of the arena.
Infernal Contraption- Weapons look strong, if hard to get to. The only way this bot is gonna work is if the wedges are better than its opponents.
Far Cry- Not to be arrogant or anything, but this thing's weapons are mighty tough. Decent weapon motor protection will keep it spinning, but the lack of wheelguards could prove fatal if it can't turn fast enough.
Epic Flailure- Scary. Need I say more?
P-AI-Daisy Might_50- Strong weapons spinning at high speeds. Ouch.
BLAH- See for yourself.
-
I think I found one problem with BLAH: I built a huge dual-perm HS for the heck of it, and it takes forever to spin up. And mine only has two hammers. Plus, it takes off like a helicopter after a hit.
Anyway, I like the looks of most of those bots. I'll probably lose, since I never got around to updating Lu-Tze's wedge. She can beat Shebeast, Mako, and Smashbox, but I think that's only thanks to the fact that a person is driving. Her fights go:
1. Charge
2. Two wedges collide; both robots go flying
3. Lu-Tze gets up, pounds crap out of opponent
I'll be bold and say that if I can out-wedge my opponent, I'll win. Probably screwed, though.
-
pinball rarely ever wins guys. it flings itself out of the arena a ton. but the spinup time is so fast, its amazing.
blah has a really long spinup time.
-
I just sent it in.
And after looking at T O R Q U E, I am not sure how well it will do. I like the weapon, but the bars that connect the tri bar and the hammers are very vulnerable. When I fight bots that have those bars on them with Destroyer I can usually knock them off with one or two hits, so that might happen here as well.
-
how would you guys feel if i did the first fight before the rest of the round. just to show you guys how the videos will look and what not. 2 people have aied their own bots and i will use those for the fight. this will be an official fight, and will affect the bracket.
-
I would rather wait and see, but I would like to see a preview video showing the strengths and weaknesses of the bots.
-
I would rather wait and see, but I would like to see a preview video showing the strengths and weaknesses of the bots.
Yeah, that would be cool.
-
i could do that if you want to wait another week for the actual videos. it too long enough taking a snapshot of every single bot, but to take video...
-
i could do that if you want to wait another week for the actual videos. it too long enough taking a snapshot of every single bot, but to take video...
Or, you could do like BBEANS, and show each bot at the beggining with their strengths and weaknesses, then do the battle.
-
Agree with Urjak.
Like Naryar said, MDIII doesn't prob have enough weapons & I'm pretty worried about these bots:
Mako 4
Speed king
Pinball (Ouch!)
Daisy_might
T O R Q U E
Bots that I think I can beat:
(Not that these bots are bad)
Classy paintjob
BLAH
Facemelikeaman
PSI
Hum Drums
Shadow
Morse Code Breaker
Tie (Not sure)
the rest
All these bots are good, and good job with the toruney Sage!
-
Or, you could do like BBEANS, and show each bot at the beggining with their strengths and weaknesses, then do the battle.
thats something im not going to do, because it takes forever. the few people i have showed the sample video to have thought it was great even without str/weak.
-
I am having second thoughts on my entry. I don't think it will do as well as my previous bots.
All the bots look like hard hitters and I can't picture there being many boring matches.
-
thats something im not going to do, because it takes forever. the few people i have showed the sample video to have thought it was great even without str/weak.
It'd be cool w/ strength & weaknesses, but I'd be satisfied with that.
Jules, that bot is going to beat mine and others. It's a great bot.
-
Okay, I'll explain a little abou my bot, because eveyone has the wrong idea.
Facemelikeaman is about 500Kg's, making it one of the lighter bots. I also have three different batteries in it, making it roughly 7, if I'm correct. it's as fast as a lightweight rammer, and is invertible. It'll still be owned by most bots, but I made it to last longer than you think. It also has two castors at the back. You know, the green ones?
-
Why did you make it only 500kgs?
-
To allow for a lighter load.
-
Couldn't you have added slightly more powerful weapons to your disks?
-
they are good, not HPZ good, but still good.
Edit: My predictions:
Bot's I could beat (with insane amounts of luck...):
Skurge (If I still have wheels I could do some damage...)
Hum drums (Thier weapon seems way two low for any damage... mine's to high...)
Bots that would make an interesting fight with me:
Lousy launcher (I go up, I go down, I attack, I go up...)
Goodbye blue sky (Charge!)
Archimandrite V (We will fly like the birds...)
-
hey guys, thats not the bracket. i was doing some tests with hyperlinks in pictures. please remove.
-
Sage, some of the links on the tournament page aren't working. I'm not complaning or anything, I just wanted to inform you.
EDIT: Sorry, they're working again, I guess I just looked while he was editing the page or something. (What was with that vid that was on the brackets' page though?)
-
It is gone now, and I am finished with the site (Sage's turn now).....I guess it should have been kept secret as you were not supposed to see that vid.
Steel Meatball and Morse Code Breaker are gonna be hard to beat.
Thor 3 may cause trouble too.
-
I am finally back online (went home for the weekend from campus and didnt have internet). But in terms of my bot T O R Q U E, it really has x2 6-mags chained together and uses 3 DSL black batts (exclusing 1 or two tiny orange "backup" batteries). Armor is DSA. Once it reaches top speed, it tends to send opponents flying... Hence the name.
-
that's a scary bot Gigafrost...
However DSA armor is pretty much non-existant in DSL. I'd be pretty worried about that.
-
I can knock off the saws on Gammaraze 3 pretty easily, so maybe the same will happen to Morse Code Breaker.
-
A 500 kg bot. Amazing.
________________
Aah, I should have got rid of the teeth and used the weight to make a bigger lower wedge. Then it would be nearly as good as HazCon.
-
Bots that would make an interesting fight with me:
Archimandrite V (We will fly like the birds...)
Especially if my bot's only throwing 500kg...
-
Hum drums (Thier weapon seems way two low for any damage... mine's to high...)
My bot(s) gets under people and grinds at their underside, I have a multibot specifically to kill things like PSI, one bot distracts PSI, then the other attacks from an unshielded spot.
-
I have a multibot specifically to kill things like PSI, one bot distracts PSI, then the other attacks from an unshielded spot.
Hmm...
I don't know if its even possible to AI a bot(s) to do that. If it is, it may be a good strategy.
-
Where do you see an unshielded spot on PSI? And Hazmat is right, they are AIed, they will just attack straight on.
These MW drums look well made, but there is great damage potential in the tourney, especially with UBER powered HS and VS... these MW's won't stand long. Especially with low defense.
-
Both multibots use the same AI.py for tactics. I think Con is saying that his opponent can only 'pay attention' to one of the two m-bots at a time, leaving the other to attack from the flank or rear.
(BTW, that's true for the m-bots too; they both can only focus on/attack one opponent bot at a time. Since they both share the same coding, "GetNearestEnemy" is the same for both. But,.. I don't know which half of the two would determine 'nearest enemy'. ... MPD for sure. hehe)
PSI looks well protected to me too.
-
It is gone now, and I am finished with the site (Sage's turn now).....I guess it should have been kept secret as you were not supposed to see that vid.
Steel Meatball and Morse Code Breaker are gonna be hard to beat.
Thor 3 may cause trouble too.
Thanks ACAMS and to all the others who like my bot, the skirt is to protect the wedge and the underside, the steel skirts which stick out the side are to cover more of the bots body they stick out because if i had used straight steel skirts instead of angled ones less of the bot would be protected. and yes i accept the fact it's not invertable and it's wheels were a bad choice. but hey, at least i'm competing and thats the main thing right?
-
Where do you see an unshielded spot on PSI?QUOTE]
Right in the back! And, the reason I say that one will distract, the other attacks, is that they will almost NEVER be on the same side of their opponent. Mad is right.
-
It is gone now, and I am finished with the site (Sage's turn now).....I guess it should have been kept secret as you were not supposed to see that vid.
Steel Meatball and Morse Code Breaker are gonna be hard to beat.
Thor 3 may cause trouble too.
That means alot to me! Thanks!!
-
Did you get my revised bot Sage?
-
yes.
-
I might as well make a prediction since I haven't done it yet.
My bots to watch:
Lousy Launcher
Archimandrite V
Morse Code Breaker
Daisy
Mako 4
Thor 3
Infernal Contraption
Far Cry
Obzen
-
Would you be able to make the brackets before all of the AI ing.
-
Hmm, looks like I was a bit to late to enter, damn it!
-
Looks like a tough field, lots of heavy hitters. And >50% of them are spinners! To be expected, I suppose... at least there's a better balance of HS/VS than in BBEANS.
As long as I don't fight a VS, Infernal Contraption, or obZen, Epic Flailure at least has a chance I think.
Sage, if you want an easy clickable bracket like in BBEANS, you can use these blank bracket templates. They're only 2 colors so they are easily recolorable. They will fit the image maps for the BBEANS4 brackets. (just view source on the bracket page).
http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/bbeans/images/blankwbracket.gif
http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/bbeans/images/blanklbracket.gif
-
I counted Click, there is exactly the same number of bots with vertical spinning weapons (sawbots, VS, drums) as horizontal spinning weapons (HS and SnS)
And yeah, this is a really offensive tourney.
-
PSI and Mako 4 are about the only defensive bots.
-
Obzen has pretty good armor too.
-
Lousy Launcher doesn't even have a scoring weapon.
-
Yeah, but with bots like mine, it will throw them out of the arena really quickly, or just bounce out of the arena after the blade hits the flipper. [Smashbox 2 does that to the one I sent in on the DSL arena]
-
Lol I'm with you Joe. Archimandrite will either win the fight or catastrophically fly around the ring even OOTA if it's flipped or even unstable. I'm screwed if it loses a hammer.
Bots I Know I Can Beat:
Speed King
Facemelikeaman
Lu-Tze
Skurge
Classy Paintjob
Morse Code Breaker
Epic Flailure
Shadow
Hum-Drums
Bots That Will Make an Interesting Fight With Me:
Lousy Launcher
Destroyer
GoodBye Blue Sky
Thor 3
Pinball
PSI
Far Cry
Smoker's Revenge
T O R Q U E
obZen
Epic Flailure
Daisy Might_50
Steel Meatball
Mutant Dragonfly
Bots That Will Own Me:
Mako 4
Infernal Contraption
Pinball
T O R Q U E
obZen
Daisy Might_50
BLAH
Steel Meatball
-
you have torque in interesting fight and bots will own me...
-
Just because hes gonna get owned doesn't mean it's going to be interesting, Manu.
-
My bot might be able to defeat the Hum-Drums and Facemelikeaman, everything else will probably bring forth its destruction.
-
Bots that scare me:
Mako 4 - Jules built it. Jules builds some of the best VS's. Therefore, it should be one of the best VS's
Lousy Launcher - In a word: wedgy. A flipper won BBEANS 2, and this flipper is better that that one, so it might go far.
Destroyer - A huge bar makes its chassis hard to get to. The kinetic energy that thing carries around could punt most bots away before they get close.
Pinball - It'll probably end up going OOTA, but it has the potential to do some damage.
Far Cry - Good wedges and a powerful weapon. A lethal combo.
Infernal Contraption - See: Hazardous Contraption. I'm not sure about its wedges though.
Daisy Might 50 - That's alot of hammers... big hammers, too. It could fail hard though.
----
PSI and BLAH are also intriguing. BLAH looks like it could be one of the most powerful bots in the thing, and PSI might be durable as heck. I'm not really sure how either of them will do.
-
I don't know why everyone is upper-casing PSI because it doesn't stand for Pounds per Square Inch, its the Greek alphabet letter "Psi." And Psi is VERY durable, fast, and will get under bots.
and I LOL at Hazmat's prediction.
-
If you looked at the updated version I sent in [which is on the first page], the version I sent in also has a spike to help keep other bots away from its chassis, and to do extra damage when I have something wedged under my weapon. And like you said, it is very powerful.
I have made videos where you can see that thing throwing Wrecktangle, Mako, and Industrial Coal Miner pretty easily.
-
...and I LOL at Hazmat's prediction.
What's so funny about it? It's true...
-
@ Inf: Probably because sage capitalized it on the splash. Blame him :P
-
Yeah... InfCon could have better wedges. I think this will be his fall. I should have put some more sheets to the lower wedge.
But still, a wedge only isn't a good one.
-
Brackets are up guys.
I'm also 99% done with the AI-ing. Just some small problems here and there with immobility and such.
-
Dang, I have to go up against Scrap Daddy
-
*GULP*
Here's a prediction: My bot's going to burn away.
-
I might be up against FAR CRY? I'm a gonna die.
-
I gotta fight Jules?!
I hope I can rip off some of those panels and hit Mako before I get thrown out of the arena....
-
Hmm...
Philetbabe VS MetalikVyper: Winner: Tie. If Morse Code Breaker has a powerful drive (that I doubt), GBS is dead. If not, GBS will slowly destroy MCB's unarmored front and eventually win. Don't know the winner.
R0B0SH4RK VS DragonFire: Winner: R0B0SH4RK. Two popups, but the best wedge is probably obZen, because R0B0 has more experience than DF in popups (no offense at all, Dragonfire).
H@zm4t VS Somebody: Winner: Tie. Depends of the wedge. SB is confident about his wedges, but H@zm4t copied Mako's wedges and these are great. Interesting match.
Gigafrost VS Condor33: Winner: Gigafrost. Poor Condor, falling on the most powerful HS in all the competition on the first round...
Scrap Daddy VS Urjak: Winner: Perhaps Scrap Daddy. Lousy Launcher has poor side defense, and these skirts will get shredded easily, but if LL is fast enough, he can get under Steel Meatball and win.
Sorrow VS Naryar: Winner: Tie. Two words for this match: Fast and Furious. I can't wait to see that one. Sorrow, you wanted to fight me...:icon_twisted:
JoeCB1991 VS Jules: Tie. Destroyer is a great design, and he's fighting the DSL VS master. Mako 4's design will deflect damage, and could reach easily the Dual Perm, but this fight could go either way. If Joe can get his weapon at the middle of Mako, he'll rip some panels and do serious damage, and I bet Mako's chassis armor isn't great. Interesting match.
Pyscolone VS Madiaba: Winner: Tie. Two veterans. Two extreme horizontal spinners. Two equal chances of winning. This will be a long, but extremely brutal fight.
Flying_Chao VS Man Manu: Winner: Man Manu. One reason: Classy Paintjob's weapons have way more HP.
System32 VS Sage: Winner: System_32: ... Just kidding! (EDIT: as long as Sage's not going to get OOTA)
Kill343gs VS A.T.2: Winner: Kill343gs. Hmm... Kill has a better and longer wedge. A.T.2 could defend itself well, though.
-
Flying_Chao VS Man Manu: Winner: Man Manu. One reason: Classy Paintjob's weapons have way more HP.
Unless FC's hammers are lower than Man Manu's, he has a chance, but I'm not sure if they are.
-
Unless FC's hammers are lower than Man Manu's, he has a chance, but I'm not sure if they are.
You're right, I checked up, they aren't.
But if Classy Paintjob has a slow spinup time and a slow spinning weapon, and will just try to rush in, SK could have some serious hits on CP's chassis.
Wait, no, seeing the wheel's height, MM should have at the best NPC-T64 fast. As these wheels aren't grippy, Classy Paintjob is going to be a snail.
-
Arrg...I think I'm going to be outwedged...but if I get to your side...
No matter what happens, this will be a heck of a fight, Naryar.
EDIT: Pys vs. madiaba? Hell yeah!
-
I think 'if' Pys's bot can stay upright, it has the slight advantage because of the hammer speed.
Oh, yea, there's also 'luck'..., so who knows...
-
Looks like I have break on first round, but then im up against TORGUE of Hum Drums... Most likely TORGUE, in wich case, I might be going to the losers bracet (once again)
-
lol you guys dont even know, blah will lose a hammer and lose quite easily.
-
8 hammers, 3 DSL bars...
I'm sure it'll last.
-
8? Where do you see eight hammers?
I see four.
-
Whoops, sorry.
-
mine should be interesting...
-
lol you guys dont even know, blah will lose a hammer and lose quite easily.
Probably NOT....(Pys is being modest...)
There are several others that look dangerous...
-
Goodbye Blue Sky vs. Morse Code Breaker
Winner:Morse Code Breaker
MCB will get under GBS and tear up his undersides. Way to many saws to be knocked off before he gets to the chassis.
Deprivator vs. obZen
Winner: obZen
This will be a close battle of the popups, but I think that obZen has the heavy armor and the better defense.
Thor 3 vs. Archimandrite V
Winner: Thor 3
Even if Archimandrite V gets under Thor, the titanium sheets under it will deflect the blows. As long as Thor 3 doesn't OOTA, he will get the win.
T O R Q U E vs. Hum-Drums
Winner: T O R Q U E
A multibot may be got to distract the bot's attention, but it doesn't matter who T O R Q U E is going for, you still can't touch it.
Steel Meatball vs. Lousy Launcher
Winner: Steel Meatball
Steel Meatball tears up the side of LL with no problem from the flippers.
Lut-Ze vs. Infernal Contraption
Winner: Infernal Contraption
InfCon has the better wedges and will tear up the underside of Lut-Ze.
Mako 4 vs. Destroyer
Winner: Mako 4
If Destroyer doesn't OOTA first, Mako 4 will get under him and go to work.
BLAH vs. P-AI-Daisy Might_50
Winner:P-AI-Daisy Might_50
Daisy has a stronger disk than BLAH, and even though BLAH will have more KE that Daisy, when BLAH loses a hammer, it will Mauler-Dance and or shake violently. This will be a great fight.
Speed King vs. Classy Paintjob
Winner: Classy Paintjob
Classy Paintjob will have his weaons last longer.
Pinball vs. Facemelikeaman
Winner:Pinball (big surprise there huh?)
Facemelikeaman will be mauled. End of story
Far Cry 2 vs. Shadow
Winner: Far Cry 2
Far Cry will kill the good bot of Shadow. Shadow is a good bot with a bad matchup.
-
Goodbye Blue Sky vs. Morse Code Breaker
Winner = Goodbye Blue Sky
Why = Morse Code Breaker's drive looks much too slow to get philetbabe's tank into the saws. GBS will maul its way to either a KO or a WBP.
obZen vs. Deprivator
Winner = obZen
Why = On popups, the wedges are key. Deprivator looks like it has a pretty poor one.
Thor 3 vs. Archimandrite V
Winner = Archimandrite V
Why = In this battle, Thor can't afford to ride up the wedges of H@zm47's bot. If it dosen't, it has a much better chance.
T O R Q U E vs. Hum Drums
Winner = T O R Q U E
Why = Hum Drums pose little threat to T O R Q U E, because of the general lack of weaponry, and their comparatively light weight will cause very little recoil. Hell, Gigafrost might even send one of 'em OOTA.
Steel Meatball vs. Lousy Launcher
Winner = Steel Meatball
Why = Lousy Launcher gets some awful luck here, drawing potentially its greatest weakness. LL might win a match, but the Meatball should grate it like some cheese.
Lu-Tze vs. Infernal Contraption
Winner = Infernal Contraption
Why = This match too will come down to the wedges, and InfCon's are probably better. This might be the most exiting match of the first round.
Mako 4 vs. Destroyer
Winner = Destroyer
Why = Mako 4's reach is far too short to even touch Destroyer, but if the fight persists and Destroyer loses a hammer, the fight is all but Mako's.
BLAH vs. P-AI-Daisy Might_50
Winner = P-AI-Daisy Might_50
Why = When BLAH gets up to speed, it'll be a scary bot. And in this match it probably will. The force of that initial impact might be so great that one of the bots goes OOTA. Daisy Might_50, however, has two more 60kg hammers than BLAH, and with BLAH's weight distribution, as soon as its first hammer goes, it'll Mauler-dance like crazy.
Speed King vs. Classy Paintjob
Winner = Speed King
Why = When Classy Paintjob loses a hammer, it will gyro dance, leaving that big chassis open for attack.
Pinball vs. Facemelikeaman
Winner = Pinball
Why = As long as Pinball stays in the arena, FMLAM is gonna get pounded. Being the lightest bot in the competition won't help FMLAM either.
Far Cry 2 vs. Shadow
Winner = Far Cry 2
Why = Far Cry's wedges might be some of the best in the tourney. I'm not even sure that Shadow's wedge even counts as a wedge. Shadow's out-wedged, out-armoured, out-driven, and out-weaponed here. This could be a quick match.
-
OMG!! The disk of Archimandrite will not toucn Thor's chassis because of the the strong titanium sheets. The spinners reach off of the wedges anyway.
-
you guys underestimate the Humdy Bros.
-
I'm on Hamachi now. Anybody want to help me test Lu-Tze's wedge?
-
What do you mean?
-
I mean fight me.
-
OMG!! The disk of Archimandrite will not toucn Thor's chassis because of the the strong titanium sheets. The spinners reach off of the wedges anyway.
Why do I have to face you now? Your bot seems like the perfect counter for my bot, unless I can get under you and hope to god you OOTA (which may happen once if luck is on my side which it clearly isn't).
Can't wait for the Pyscolone v Madiaba match, it will be classic
Other bots that got unlucky:
Deprivator
Lousy Launcher
Lu-Tze
Destroyer
Shadow
Bots that got lucky:
Any bot that got a bye (esp. Skurge)
Pinball
T O R Q U E
Steel Meatball
-
I think I can beat Mako 4 if I get some good hits in, but I am more worried about my weapon being strong enough to throw me out of the arena than I am about Mako.
I also think that if I flip it over I could win, because i don't really see anything that can self right it.
-
Somebody actually thinks my bot will win!? Awesome.
-
I am still wondering how well my design, and Jules' design will work in the fight.
Mine is really simple, and I used those bars instead of a wedge because it would be simpler to design than the wedge system, and it is also a smaller target than the wedge on bots like the first Mako would be.
But Jules made a really complex design that looks good, but there are just a lot of parts that could be broken off. And I think that all of those would be an easy target for another VS to grab onto and throw it around.
Although, his has a better defense than mine, because all I have is 3mm Titanium armor, and the bar don't absorb the impact like the wedges on Mako 1 would.
-
you guys underestimate the Humdy Bros.
Perhaps we might think differently if we could actually see them in the splash :3
-
Haha, I completely forgot to check this over the past week.
Since I haven't actually been drawn up against anyone yet, I'll just make predictions for any robots
Robots I could probably beat
Lousy launcher
Facemelikeaman
Classy Paintjob
TORQUE
Shadow (looks way too unstable and I think I can get under it easily)
Blah
Robots I have a chance at beating if I'm lucky
Mako 4 (If I can get underneath it)
Archi (Again, the weapon will be easily avoidable, should I get underneath)
Speed King (Depends how things go)
Destroyer (The body is begging to be clawed)
Thor 3 (Wedges again)
Lut Ze (Same as Thor)
Pinball (Same as Speed King)
PSI (Same as Thor)
Deprivator (Same as Thor)
Humdrums (Is that a clusterbot? It all depends on how good their weapon is)
Mutant Dragonfly
Robots that'll own me
Goodbye Blue Sky (Tracks take forever to knock off and those weapons look deadly)
Infernal Contraption (Even if I get underneath it, that weapon could probably still hit me. And I might have to face it *gulp*)
Far Cry (There's no way I'm getting under that thing)
Obzen
Morse Code Breaker (Gammaraze is hard. I don't want to think about what this'll be like)
Epic Flailure (Not too sure how it works, but if ClickBeetle made it then I doubt I have a chance)
Daisy Might (Looks incredibly heavy so I doubt I can get under it at all)
Steel Meatball (T_T)
Hehe. You guys have no idea how good Skurge is? Well...I can't blame you. It looks basic and neither of the videos I have of it demonstrate how good it is...But it's my second best damage scoring robot. The first is a remake of Triclops, but I didn't want to enter that. My best actual robot is a flipper called Flack, but unless I'm actually controlling it, it'll probably get owned.
-
Me... versus Torque... It's a conspiricy
Ahem... Anyway, he's going to have a spinup time of a miute and a half, there's no way not to with that kind of bot. Especially with 6Mags, they don't work very well on carge spinners. I don't know about bar spinners but I bet he's still going to have a hard time getting up to speed. Plus, those wheels are obvious targets.
-
He's going to have a maximum spinup time of about 15 seconds. But at 5 seconds spinning, he'll still be very damaging.
Chained 6 Mag gearboxes spin slowly, right, but a blow of it to one of your MW's is going to send it flying. OOTA or at the other side of the arena. But T O R Q U E's spinner isn't going to be stopped by one blow, just slowed down, and the time the other multibot attacks, he'll still take a nasty blow.
If you win this match, you'll be very lucky.
BTW Giga, how does it perform against two middleweights?
-
LOL AT ICE THE FROSTY CAT
-
When do you think the videos will be up Sage?
-
When do you think the videos will be up Sage?
im done with the first match. i hope i will have them done by wednesday.
-
You think you have a chance against Lu-Tze, Mako 4, and Psi, Frosty?
My ass. You may be able to outwedge Lu-Tze, but as soon as she gets to your side, you're boned. Mako and Psi will just tear you to shreds.
-
Especially with a messed up weapon, a vulnerable chassis where I could put an elephant and 15 ant batts... if you didn't updated Skurge.
-
Robots I have a chance at beating if I'm lucky
Archi (Again, the weapon will be easily avoidable, should I get underneath)
That's Archimandrite V to you...
Your kidding, right?
You seriously think your huge chassis will escape unharmed from a collision with my weapon (how would you avoid that(https://gametechmods.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)???). I suppose you put "if I'm lucky" there but that's beside the point. Getting underneath him from the front is nearly impossible but you may have more luck around the sides...
Luck rarely happens in RA2.
-
We'll see, guys.
---------------------------
.........Luck rarely happens in RA2.
HM, statistically luck is involved, and is an effective contributor.
---------------------------
(BTW: 'Luck' is just a word that describes a situation containing some unknown variables. If all of the factors could be and were known then there would be no luck or chance. There are several unkown variables present here. When the known factors add up to imply an undesired sum, then we hope upon the unknow variables to transform the equation: 'If I get lucky...').
-
everybody love everybody!
-
And that maxes a n-degree equation, I suppose? n being superior to 3, and the calculus becomes completely messed up?
As far as I can know, winning/losing depends of two things: AIing and building skill.
Look, I could have won vs Enfilad3 but the AI made Hazcon drive like a b**ch in the first and third round. And I think we were equally matched in terms of building skill.
I think there is a random element in RA2's AI code: you can't predict the bot's path and how it will react to the opponent, and that's why you can't really know who will win unless a big difference in bot building skill.
Even the second and third rounds of Psycho Sweeper VS Rage III were different.
-
Yeah you've made your point.
I suppose luck is involved to some degree...
-
Icy, I just noticed that you missed Smoker's Revenge from your list.
-
Ok, I admit I'm probably wrong with most of my predictions ^_^;
With some of those robots I can't really see how it works and I don't know how fast it moves or whether I can avoid the weapons. These are just based on what I can see =P
I'll likely get owned xP
Oh yeah, and I did try rebuilding Skurge at one point, a lot smaller, weapons more concentrated, but it wasn't as effective :S
Edit: Oh, and I think I should mention that I also mostly made these predictions based on my driving skills as I have no idea how the AIed version will control
-
If you're making predictions, this is how the one I entered does against Mako.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1mZofHkYTo
It starts at 3:35 in the video, but this is a different version of the bot. The one I sent in does not have the tail.
-
He's going to have a maximum spinup time of about 15 seconds.
After 4.6 seconds it spins up half way. Meaning that the bottom motor is at full speed and the top one begins to stop rotating. At this moment his hitting force begins to climb in terms of damage.
2/3 Times it is able to send Grog the Vengeful flying across the arena on contact once it hits full speed. Any MW at this point is obliterated. By The time it loses a hammer, its opponent is either upside down or destroyed. It's wheels are also not "Unprotected". The radius of the weapon is larger that its chassis, which fits perfectly over the components. Condor33s bots stand a very little chance if the drum bots get to it after 5 seconds. At full speed, it is probably an OOTA hit. If not, I still have a 200+ weight advantage of each bot. So they can't do much to it head on.
Not saying that they don't stand any chance however. T O U R Q U Es a little sluggish upon spinup. Just being realistic.
-
I just rechecked the competitors and I noticed that I have a good chance at beating TORGUE. Why? Because Smoker's Revenges blades spin in a slightly upwards tilted direction, so if TORGUE's hammers are not high enough, the weak flipper segments will get hit before too much damage is done.
-
Same here, I can normally knock those off in one or two hits, and I think that my bot is fast enough to get across the arena in 4.5 seconds.
-
Ah! Ah! I'm looking forward to see your fight, Giga. It has the potential to be awesome.
One of my first DSL HWs was a chained HS, a 4 mag gearbox, then a 2 mag gearbox on it, a Whyachi tribar and 3 50Kg's on it.
It had a slow spinup time something like 7 seconds, and when spinning at full speed the tribar began to wobble and i couldn't spin it faster because if i did he Mauler danced, a hammer touching the ground, and finishing on it's back. Better was 5500 damage on a hit (but now i see that's few for a HW), but the good thing was 4WD Magmotor drive on hypno wheels. Also, crazy ant batt stacking because he was like a many sided pyramid.
-
I think Lu-Tze would have a shot against Torque, just because she's obscenely fast and could chew Torque up before he got up to speed.
-
hey guys. im now done with 3 videos, all edited and ready. i can give you two options. one: i post the first 6 videos, that same way click beetle separates the losers bracket and winners bracket. two: i could just finish all 11 videos, but it would take me longer.
while you're pondering that, heres another- like clickbeetle does music near the end of the tournament, i could do commentary. my computer has a mic so i can record my voice as i watch the video being filmed, like a real robot competition with a commentator. just brainstorming here guys.
-
Post the first six.
-
brainstorm 1- well, i think a lot of us are awaiting for the videos, so it would be cool to post the first sic.
brainstorm 2 - great idea. just don't go Robot Wars commentator.
-
Go ahead and do the first 6.
-
oops, meant to say first 5. it will the first half of the bracket. but all right, i will finish up the next 2. i suspect they will be done tonight :D
-
I cant wait to see T O R Q U E vs. the HumDrums!
-
I cant wait to see T O R Q U E vs. the HumDrums!
neither can I! personally, based on the one test fight i did with hum drums, im pulling for the little guys :D (test fight not against TORQUE)
-
"Luck rarely happens in RA2"
that made me laugh.
-
It would be nice to see the first five videos, and a commentary toward the end would be cool. :D
-
I also think that the website should have a summary page.
-
I personally prefer music over a commentary, but the commentary would be kind of cool....
-
I personally prefer music over a commentary, but the commentary would be kind of cool....
Both?
No we're gonna drive Sage insane with all our requirements.
-
As long as it didn't distract from the fight. It would have to be after everything was over, then you could just give your thoughts.
-
LOL LUCK RARELY HAPPENS. ROTFFL
-
I prefer you post them Clickbeetles way, the whole round at once. I'd prefer no commentary too. Save yourself the unnessesary work. That little less editing will save you time so you can get more videos up quicker.
And luck ALWAYS happens in RA2.
-

there is no extra editting. i talk while recording the video. like, it records my voice AND the video. i have to be dead silent when recording matches so it doesnt pick up anything.
and i decided to do it my way, by brackets. the first bracket has 5 matches, second has 6. that way there will be less of a gap between videos, but they wont be one at a time like Ianh05's.
-
Round 1 Bracket 1 is up on the first page!!!
go check it out.
-
Wait, where is the video of me and scrap daddy?
EDIT: Now the link takes me to the vid of Thor 3 and Arch.
-
The little guys actually won... I'm impressed but not surprised. They are very fast.
-
Wait, where is the video of me and scrap daddy?
EDIT: Now the link takes me to the vid of Thor 3 and Arch.
sorry bout that. its fixed now.
-
It seemed weird that lousy was flipping when steel meetball was right in front of the skirts, instead of when he was actually on top.
-

the smartzone can't decipher the difference between the weapon and the chassis. i had the same problem in BBEANS 3 with my popup Bioquad. I can only do so much. It;s usually better if the maker places the smartzone himself.
-

Its fine, I lost fair and square. It was just something I noticed.
-
Pretty good, and I know for a fact that my bot is more stable than Archimandrite V was.
-
GG Somebody :D. Least I went out (winners bracket wise) with a TKO under my belt which is better that I did in BBEANS. Hey, I hit your chassis (once)!!!
I don't want to complain but my bot had VERY crappy starts (looks like I just did)
THE HUMDRUMS WON???!!!???one!!!??
Steel Meatball looks frightening...
...I know for a fact that my bot is more stable than Archimandrite V was.
That was always gonna be the case Joe. Your bot has a wider base of support that mine.
EDIT: Crap, I've just realised I'm facing obZen in the losers bracket. Looks like the end of the road for me...
-
Err, obZen won the first match by points, so it was 2-1 for DF.
I can't really say I'm suprised here. By my sheer idiocy, I overlooked the fact that anything with a wedge can get under the ramplate wedge on the front. Enfilad3 is much better at this. I have to face H@zm47 now, and I think he'll win by virtue of his weapons having more HP than mine.
A suggestion for the tourney, please don't post the winners in the brackets after their matches. It kinda ruins the all of the suspense.
On another note, GO HUM-DRUMS!!
-
On another note, GO HUM-DRUMS!!
I totally agree. Hum-Drums look very good.
You've given me some confidence for next round R0B0SH4RK but I've never faced a popup with Archmandrite V before. Judging on how Archmandrite V started all of his fights, you will win the first couple of blows and damage his chassis (quite badly if my under standing of popups is correct). If obZen lets him fall back on his wheels however, it may be all over for you...
-
I hope my bot does well... It is powerful enough to throw itself out of the DSL arena, but the high walls in this arena will help me out.
-
They helped me out slightly so they will for you
-
And I can probably knock off most of the panels on Mako before that happens.
-
Eh? GBBS is a POKER? Then it is way better.
I actually saw something like an iron in this bunch of hammers and i said to myself "must be attached to a piston"
But I never thought that ALL the weapon was a spear head.
Archimandrite = NINJA.
_________
I think that in this arena, the best bot has to be low, stable, wedgy (and a really good wedge) and fast. And if it's a spinner, he must have small weapons to avoid mauler dancing.
Like Lu-Tze, Psi or InfCon, and possibly the HumDrums. MCB had the potential to be one but it's way too slow and has literally no real wedge.
But Lu-Tze is too fast IMO (so unstable) and has mediocre wedges according to Sorrow, InfCon has weapons that won't last very long and a wedge that could be better, and i'm not sure about Inf's wedge.
EDIT: And I know what's wrong with obZen. There is a gap between the long ramplates and the lower skirt wedges and Deprivator got in.
EDIT 2: Aaah Robo said it before. Nevermind.
-
Archimandrite = NINJA.
What does that mean?
I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or not...
-
I never expected that from Hum Drums, Im starting to feel like that Smoker will get smoked if they go like that at him...
And what was up with Archimandrite? It seemed more like a circus robot than a fighting robot in the second round.
-
What does that mean?
I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or not...
No, that was lousy humor to say that Archimandrite did some real kickass acrobatics, and even it dodged/deflected most of Thor's attacks like that !
-
I saw a hovok in MCB vs GBBS!
-
Yeah, I saw that too, but it happened at the end of round 2.
-
Can the next videos be louder?
-
wow hum-drums did good. lack of armour let T O R Q U E down.
-
Well Giga used DSA... And even 1mm Plastic is WAY better than DSA in DSL.
Sage was right... we underestimate the HumDrums. At that speed, i'm going to lose if i face them.
-
wow never would have thought Humdrums were going to win!
I kinda knew my fight was going to go like this. SM completely rapes Sentinel but im probably going to lose to inf.
-
Round 2 predictions!
Clickbeetle VS Philetbabe: Favorite: Click.GBS may be a powerful poker, but he just faces a powerful and well armored hammer. And again, like his little bro, GoodBye Blue Sky will lose because of lack of top/bottom defense, despite being better than BrasOuvert. Perhaps not to Click, because that poker is powerful and he could perhaps keep Epic Flailure at safe range.
Dragonfire VS Somebody: Favorite: Dragonfire. Seeing how Archimandrite went under Thor, a popup that won against obZen isn't going to lose that easily.
SSG vs Condor33: Favorite: SSG.: Sure, the HumDrums raped T O R Q U E in the previous match, but T O R Q U E had just offense for strength. Smoker's Revenge has wedges, better defense, and these "small" spinners that will spin up seriously faster than T O R Q U E's one, and some decent defense. Nevertheless, the Humdy Bros will give some trouble to Smoker's Revenge.
Inf vs SD: Favorite: None. This is gonna be like Iron Spaghetti VS a faster Layziee. Although Psi's speed will help him greatly in that arena, Steel Meatball is very powerful. Either Psi will get under SM easily and KO it, either he won't do it easily and the flails will ripp off all his weapons.
-
Naryar, you are forgetting that I have a 12000 hp plate on the bottom of my bot.
-
Can the next videos be louder?
nope. they seem plenty loud for me if i turn my volume all the way up though. and there is a volume control when you watch them.
-
I won't rely too much on my armor plates i I were you Somebody.
Especially that the front of your chassis, under the steel wedges and over the large titanium plate, is exposed to a popup. And plastic armor.
-
I think it is something else with the plastic skin, but I am not sure what.
Go Hum Drums!
Edit: I didn't know that GBBS was a piston bot
Also... I WON!!!!
OMG!!!!!!!
Sorry, I had to type that. No offense to H@zm47, you built a great bot, and if the weapon didn't turn on while it was falling, it probably wouldn't have gone as crazy.
-
Thanks for the support everyone. Frankly I didn't think I'd win that one either. I'm looking forward to Smoker, I've not seen an "eater" bot like that before. Though frankly, I can really pick on his weaknesses. No top/bottom/rear/side armor vs two drums does not equal good. Unfortunately, one hit from those spinners will probably rip a wheel off of me. I think it will be fun!:icon_twisted:
-
i think hum drums win the crowd favorite award. just fyi guys, im really on a roll here, and i expect to be done with the next bracket by tomorrow, or even tonight. tell me if you think i should wait longer.
-
*drools*
-
Actually, unlike Smoker, Smoker's Revenge is a repelling bot, just to prevent that jamming problem, I really didnt like to see that happening, but it has donwsides too, the oponents will fy to the sides of the bot and its not actually so fast turning and there is now 2 bots against it and then add DSA armor to that.
I wont be suprised if the same thing happeds to Smoker's Revenge as it did to Torgue in the second round.
-
Do it as fast as you want Sage.
-
"Luck rarely happens in RA2"
that made me laugh.
Seen it already...
-
Round 1 Bracket 2 is up!
some more upsets. go watch!
-
The pinball vs fmlam link doesn't work
-
The pinball vs fmlam link doesn't work
i fixed it.
-
My weapon seemed slower than it normally is.... or Mako is faster than I thought it was.
EDIT:
I just checked another video I have of this bot [it is somewhere in this thread] and the spin up time is around 2 seconds, but it seemed like it was 4 seconds now.
-
Interesting matches. Lots of unexpected results. Especially obZen and Daisy Might... though I wouldn't tack up Daisy Might's loss to luck so much as a fatal design flaw. That shell disc needs to be stronger.
Infernal Contraption looks just as good as Hazardous Contraption, contrary to Naryar's worries... Steel Meatball is scary... Pinball is even scarier. Those bots should do well.
It's too late to do anything about it now, but I noticed that several of the bots apparently use switch controls for their spinners (you can tell by the sporadic on-off pattern of the motor sound, rather than a continuous buzz). That doubles the spinup time, so it could be a pretty big deal. Humdrums, Morse Code Breaker, Destroyer, Mako 4, and Shadow all sound like they use switches. Possibly T O R Q U E too, hard to tell. But you might want to fix that for the next round.
-
Mine uses a switch, but it normally spins up faster than that... the switches are the ones you don't have to hold down right?
-
Right, but for some reason the AI continuously triggers the spin control instead of just activating it once. So if it's a switch, they keep toggling the weapon on/off. But if it's a button, then it goes on/on, and it spins at normal speed.
-
*Glad he's wired Archimandrite's weapon with a button*
I must have missed the stacked hammers on Blah and therefore underestimated it. It owned Daisy Might. I agree with Click in saying that the disc on Daisy Might needed to be stronger. I laughed at the headbutting between InfCon and Lu-Tze in the beginning of their matches. FarCry looks dangerous and Pinball even more so. Unlucky with Destroyer's weapon, Joe. It may have won you the fight if it was wired properly though, Mako 4 is deadly.
-
I know, and some of the videos I have posted on here have shown how powerful that bar is at full speed.
Is there any way that a rematch for some of these fights can be done, just to see how it would of turned out if they were wired properly? And they need to be fixed before the next round is filmed.
-

Yep, that's what I've found, when coding AI.
Daisy Might (not). *Hehe*
I recently helped Sage fix up his AI folder so that it would hold 90 teams, for this tourney. So he sent me all of the RAW bots. Since by then Sage posted the brackets which indicated that I would go up against Blah, I tried out Daisy against Blah, and got allot better(more even) results than 3 straight disk removals:shock:. But it's ok.
Yea CB, if there were leftover weight I could have used a stronger disk, but there wasn't any extra. I think it will still do well with the other bots, but who knows,.. that's what I thought here. No problem.
Pys. I really like how you built Blah, with 2 Sledges together. Nice job. If he can stay upright, away from walls and fast attacking bots, he'll do very well, IMO.
-
I don't think any of the fights involving bots wired with switches would have been different if they were wired with buttons. Mako 4 is too low and fast for Destroyer to grab on to and throw. You can see that in the third round when Destroyer finally gets up to speed. But it would be a good thing to fix for the future, just in case it does end up making a difference.
*Glad he's wired Archimandrite's weapon with a button*
On the other hand, Archimandrite might actually have won if its weapon spun a bit slower, so it didn't start tumbling right away in every fight. Such is fate.
-

Point taken but I think it made my fights more interesting...
-
*yawns*
I was expecting much more from InfCon VS Lu-Tze.
BTW Sage, InfCon did lose a round because he fell on it's back, and lost stupidly in a corner by immobility- but this happens to me also.
_________
BUT, because there is always a but, BLAH VS Daisy Might was AWESOME. Especially when Blah ripped off the shell: the shell didn't moved at all and that was Daisy Might who was thorwn.
-
Oh, great. Another Sit n spin.
EDIT: It's funny how that reminds me of the NOS-BOT/Haymaker fight. And Naryar called it a NOS-BOT with chassis space.
-
I wonder if the Hums were wired with a button? The Daisy/Blah fight was hilarious! Blah didn't know the weapon off of the bot, he knocked the bot off of the weapon!
-
Interesting matches. Lots of unexpected results. Especially obZen and Daisy Might... though I wouldn't tack up Daisy Might's loss to luck so much as a fatal design flaw. That shell disc needs to be stronger.
CB, I didn't mean luck only in battling, which is still significant. Daisy is a newly designed bot like many of yours (you know me and innovation). In testing it won about 90% of it's battles. As you mentioned, I knew where it's main weakness was, but it didn't manifest itself often (lucky hit), because up to that point it didn't (and I didn't expect it to) face a bot with such concussion as Blah, so I was not very concerned.
But when I first saw Blah, and its dual sledge design, I worried,...:|
But again, I pondered that Daisy most likely will NOT face Blah anyway; esp first round (1/26 chance). And then maybe a fast Rammer or FS would get him before Daisy had to face him. But,... when I saw the Brackets with me (of all 26 other bots) facing Blah,...:ermm:. ...This is a big part of what I meant by 'chance'.
....So in helping Sage set up for more AI Teams, as I mentioned above, I then tested (about 30 matches) and found that Daisy did much better than expected (cause Blah often would not stay upright and away from the walls). So I posted the observation:I think 'if' Pys's bot can stay upright, it has the slight advantage because of the hammer speed(edit:i.e. concussion).
Oh, yea, there's also 'luck'..., so who knows...
Not to diminish bot building skills (for Blah is a very good bot); and every bot has it's weakness(es), as we all know. But (1) there are lucky hits, moves or immobilizations, but (2) there is also luck concerning the random selection of the kind of bot your bot faces, that might/might not be able to capitalize on opponent weakness(es). So both lucky hits and lucky picks can manifest a bot's weaknesses, and thus are a significant part in determining a winner/loser.
....BUT, because there is always a but, BLAH VS Daisy Might was AWESOME. Especially when Blah ripped off the shell: the shell didn't moved at all and that was Daisy Might who was thorwn.
And yes it was funny watching the huge weapons system stay stable as a puny little chassis came flying out from under it. Like the wizard in the Wizard of OZ, that's all that's behind that great big front.... hehe. ..*Huh.. I know people like that...*
-
It looks like I got Speed King for the losers bracket... If I'm not mistaken. This fight will be interesting since T O U R Q U E may get a chance to get up to full speed.
-
Giga, I've got Speed king.
-
I must have interpreted it wrong. Looking at the N slot thing... I think My bout is against the loser of the match between Pinball and Classy.
-
Mad, no need to worry about probabilities.
The only thing to worry about is the arena.
It favors really fast bots, allowing for an immediate rush, unlike BBEANS4 that favored spinners (especially horizontal), and the ironic thing is that there was very few horizontal spinners in BBEANS, and few fast bots in RAW. If I count well, there's only PSI, InfCon and Lu-Tze as fast bots (all 4WD). All the others are have either a decent speed (Mako 4, obZen) or really slow (yours, BLAH)
IMO, in this arena, the good setup is: a fast and wedgy bot (including low ground clearance), stable enough, with light but gut-ripping weapons. Psi and InfCon are the two better suited IMO (although I haven't seen Psi's speed). Lu-Tze is good too but will fall prey to a better wedged bot. You know what will happen to the other bot especially if he's a heavily weaponed bot like BLAH.
______
But the strange thing is: how the heck can Blah could one-hit-destroy your weapon, that is a disc protected by several spinning hammers at a nice speed? Oh, wait, that's perhaps like Speed King VS Classy Paintjob, the angular speed wasn't fast enough?
-
Whatever the case... That explains why those doggone HumDrums beat T O U R Q U E. Actually, they are perfect for this arena. My bot sucks when it's in tight spaces. In Speed Kings case, A Sit and Spin rarely beats a VS due to the simple fact that it uses up more energy to make a blow. It also stops completetly upon impact and has to spin up again (in most cases). VS simply bounce off their opponent with temporarily-decreased speed. But everyone knew this...
-

I just want to see what would of happened, I'm not talking about changing the brackets. But I think that the fight would of been different if it did have a Button.
-
woooo!!! most boring match goes to me and flying_chao! i was kinda glad i got KO'd on the last round. i couldnt stand another 3 min bout of us both spinning round
-
LOL looks like my bot was a lump of dog excrement after all, ah well looks like it's back to the drawing board, for the 11th time counting all the other plastic i've entered in other tourneys. I am however working on an awesome DSL bot which does kick ass, in startcore, i will never know if it owns in DSL because i don't have DSL ai oponents in my game, just the components and even some of them are missing, sorry for being a rambling novice it's just i can't explain how excuciatingly crap i am at this game.
-
There's your problem.
I've been told off for that as well. Use DSL AI or sumthin.
-
About the switch vs button: most bots that were sent to me had a switch in the wiring. I just figured thats what the builder wanted, like i kept the smartzone in there if they put it in there themselves.
@joecb1991: the spinup looks slower because when i film videos it lags a little, as you can see sometimes. that or the switch.
sorry if you guys are upset about the switches. if it really cripples a bot during a fight, i will fix it, otherwise id rather not go through and rewire everything again. took long enough the first time.
just FYI, little darling of Sv3 had a switch, if i remember correctly.
-
I do want mine fixed, I used a Switch because it was easier than holding the space bar down for the entire match, and I did not know that the AI would do that.
And I did check the time on the bottom, in 4 seconds it wasn't even close to full speed, but normally it is at full speed in two seconds.
-

Blah has
(a) 2 huge sledges (on one end)
(b) that hit simultaneiously
(c) and are mounted far from the motor's axis (i.e. high speed).
That's how...
These make Blah the perfect 'Daisy plucker' *hehe*, for it perfectly exploited Daisy's main weakness, that most other bots probably wouldn't.
Other bots would probably fair somewhat better against Blah than Daisy...
But I think Blah will do well, ...if it stays upright and avoids the walls.
-

I've been studying Mechanics and Kinematics too, Mad. I know about that. And RA2 theory too.
I was wondering how could BLAH one-hit rip that disk protected by several quickly spinning hammers.
_____________
And Blah WILL get owned by the first fast bot he'll fight. He may have insane destructive power, but no defenses and spins up slowly.
-
It would be very easy to flip over, and then you could just obliterate the chassis.
-
I think I have a pretty good chance against Deprivator, and if not, I will be against... Either Daisy Might or Destroyer... Damn, those are not good matchups for me.
-
Thats gonna be my only win, wasn't even expecting that much. Its a horrible bot with no stability.
-
I think that I might be able to knock Daisy's weapon off in a couple hits, and then all I will have to do is keep the hammers attached long enough to break the wheels off.
Blah also got around 8000 points on each good hit, and mine can usually get between 4000 and 6000. I also think that the disc that Daisy used isn't very strong, so if I get 2 or 3 good hits in I can probably break it off. I also know that my bot is faster, and I can probably pin it against the wall if I don't flip over when the weapons hit each other.
-
Thats gonna be my only win, wasn't even expecting that much. Its a horrible bot with no stability.
But it got the job done... I hope you fair well against the faster bots.
-
I'm glad that i'v won the first match for now GBBS will fight Epic Failure. i feel particulary honoured to meet this incredible bot. Will it come from the same strange Bolchoï as it little BBean brother ? If there's a Torro who should like it's Torero, than it's GBBS. Hope GBBS gives a good fight.
-
[sarcasm]oh yey! i get pinball! woo! [/sarcasm]
-
Well, everyone else is making predictions, so I might as well make mine.
Predictions:
Click vs. Philetbabe. Winner: Probably Philetbabe.
Click's bot is great, it might even possibly be my favorite bot in the whole tourney, but if GBBS can get his hammers in the way of EF's hammer, he could keep it from firing properly. GBBS will prob win on a WBP or even a KO.
Dragonfire vs. Somebody. Winner: Tie.
It all depends on the wedges. Whoever can get under the other bot will prob win.
SSG vs. Condor33. Winner: Condor33.
Smoker's Revenge is a great bot with a destructive weapon, but if a Hum-Drum gets to the back of it, it's all over. SR might KO one of the Hum-Drums, though.
Scrap Daddy vs. Inf. Winner: Tie.
If Steel meatball can keep Psi away long enough, he'll probably win. If Psi can wedge itself under SM, he could also cause serious damage. This fight could go either way.
Naryar vs. ItFC. Winner: Naryar.
InfCon almost certainly has a better wedge, and when he gets to Skurge's underside, it's all over.
Jules vs. Psycolone. Winner: Jules.
Blah defeated Daisy Might somewhat easily, but it is pretty unstable. Mako 4 will probably get under Blah & KO him.
Man Manu vs. Sage. Winner: Sage.
Classy paintjob just barely beat Speed King, and Pinball has better hammers & spins faster. Pinball will probably KO Classy here.
Kill343gs vs. Reier. Winner: ...Kill343gs.
FarCry has a way better wedge than Mutant Dragonfly III, and will almost certainly KO me. Oh well. :baby_smily:
-
I agree with Reier's predictions.
-
My next match against speed king Will either be the same or Luck might let that bot drop it's mallet...
-
Hmm...Either EF or GBBS...
Lu-Tze can beat GBBS (patented "freakishly fast box rush" should do the trick), but I'm worried about EF's wedge.
Probably gonna go 0-2. Should've updated that damn wedge.
-
Click vs. Philetbabe Winner: Click
GBBS's top is too exposed.
Dragonfire vs. Me Winner: Me
Deprivator's reach does not seem long enough to hit the underside of my chassis (the part that is uncovered), and I am not sure about his wedge.
SSG vs. Condor33 Winner: Condor33
One of the HumDrums will get around the back.
Scrap Daddy vs. Inf Winner: Inf
Psi will get under SM and tear it up
Naryar vs. ItFC Winner: Naryar
InfCon will tear up the underside, end of story
Jules vs. Pys Winner: Jules
The VS King will strike the weakly guarded underside of BLAH.
Man Many vs. Sage Winner: Sage
Pinball is too quick for CP to defend.
Reier vs. K343gs Winner: Kill343gs
Reier's lack of a wedge will be his downfall.
LOSER'S BRACKET
Robo vs. Hazmat Winner: Robo
Archy will spaz all over the arena, and it will end up like my match.
Joe vs. Mad Winner: Mad
Daisy's weapon is too strong for Destroyer
Flying_Chao vs. S32 Winner: (huge surprise), Flying_Chao
This will go just like FMLAM's first match.
-
At least I will beat one robot in this tournament.
-
Don't count ALL your eggs...
You might beat two...
-
I think I can beat Daisy. If I get one or two good hits on the Disc I can knock it off, and it will probably be easy to pin it against the wall and break a few parts off.
But I really hope I do not get ****** because I used a switch instead of a button...
-

i took the time to fix a few AI things, yours included.
-
I just made a bot that works in the same way Daisy does, and I can knock its blade off in a few hits, but one of my hammers usually breaks off around the same time. And the Daisy replica also started wobbling around a lot after I hit it, but my design probably wasn't as good as the one in this tournament.
-
Round 2 Bracket 1 is up!
some good fights. go watch em.
-
Wait, Humdrums won both beggining matches?!
-
Well I was WAAAYY off. Oh well, maybe better luck vs. Destroyer/Daisy. God dammit!!.
-
I really think Psi should have won that. Every time he got under SM, he drove away like an idiot.
-
I really think Psi should have won that. Every time he got under SM, he drove away like an idiot.
well, the thing is, i didn't AI Psi... Inf did. i would have made some changes but... if they chose to AI it, its theirs.
other people who Aied their own bots: madiaba, clickbeetle, and philetbabe.
-
Those were good fights, and you are doing a really good job at getting these things uploaded fast.
And if I beat Daisy, I was more worried about having to fight Deprivator since I am not sure how much damage I would take from those spikes, and I think that I can beat Thor.
-
According to the bracket, I both won and lost my first match, as it says Flying_Chao in both places.:-D
-
Btw sage. What do you use to record your battles?
-
LOSER'S BRACKET
Robo vs. Hazmat Winner: Robo
Archy will spaz all over the arena, and it will end up like my match.
I've asked sage to change the toggle for Archy's weapon from a button to a switch to avoid this "spazzing".
@Giga: I think it may be fraps
-
It will be weaker because of that, but at least it won't flip over when the match starts.
-
True but I'd much prefer to stay on my wheels with a weakened weapon than face obZen belly up the whole time. That's what it came down to.
-
I was wondering how could BLAH one-hit rip that disk protected by several quickly spinning hammers.
I agree Nar... and 3 times in a row, is weird.
-
But it isn't too hard to knock off normally. Like I said I built a replica of it to help predict how the match would go. But Daisy is really powerful, Destroyer and Daisy were thrown pretty well on contact. But I did do the best when I was able to launch it straight up into the air.
-
Joe, If you PM me, I'll send it to you to try out.
If you have a few pointers I'll listen...
-
All I would do is make it easier to steer from what I've seen, but that is tough with the Dual Perm. It should be a good match.
-
Why cant I access the RAW page?
-
Site must be down, I can't get there either.
-
Aww man! I lost... I was pretty close on the first round tough. Oh well, atleast I toasted them both in the final round as a revenge for chewing up my bot :D
Flail's and GBBS's fight was the most dissapointing and boring of these, I didnt think that GBBS could climb up Flail like that.
-
I was hoping that Epic Failure would of done better than it did, it is an interesting design and I wanted to see it do well.
-
why am i in the losers bracket? i won...
-
I'm wondering also...
-
The fast and wedgy bots are getting beaten... crap.
Deprivator looks like a great popup, only thing i have to critic is the lack of a low wedge and wheels with poor grip.
One sure thing is there's NO WAY the HumDrums can beat Steel Meatball.
-
Yeah, but for a multibot, they got far.
-
It'd be cool if someone would do a promotion vid for RAW like Sage did for Bbeans.
-
We should wait until it is over.
-
Sorry, I meant after it's done.
-
why am i in the losers bracket? i won...
sorry. i had flying chao in both places for some reason, and i put your name in at 1 AM...
ill fix it right away.
-
ok thanks alot
-
For those who say I can't beat Meaty, if I can hit him before he spins up I can maul him. He's got to have crap armor with all those heavy irons.
-
For those who say I can't beat Meaty, if I can hit him before he spins up I can maul him. He's got to have crap armor with all those heavy irons.
Seeing how your multibots drive, there's no way two little drums can beat a huge flail shell spinner like that. Especially a shell spinner.
See Psi's speed? SM was spinning when Psi hit him.
-
I agree, Meatball is too well protected, but I think a very powerful VS could take it out.
-
Huh... Psi should have won. Just that he has the same problems that some of my AIed bots have.
EF VS GBBS - i vote that most boring match of all.
______
Joe: Difficultly. You need a fast VS with small weapons. Just like Psi and he should have owned SM, but that's the AI.
-
Psi didn't stay under Meaty. Besides, he effectively stopped Meats from being effective when the launching occurred. If I can stay under, he's going to get killed. No one said I'd beat the other two bots I'd fought either.
-
Psi has more than twice your bot's drive. And real wedges. And side protection. And good wheel choice. And not aluminium armor (i'm nearly sure it hasn't)
-
One can hit him and stop SM, and the other can kill the underside.
-
I'm going to just say it outright: Lu-Tze can beat SM.
How do I know? She kicks the crap out of Grog every time. The freakishly fast box rush'll get her under SM, then chew him up real good.
-
Psi has more than twice your bot's drive. And real wedges. And side protection. And good wheel choice. And not aluminium armor (i'm nearly sure it hasn't)
I have aluminum five, my wheels have good traction too. My wheels ARE my side protection. And even though I only weigh 400lbs, I could still slow him down considerably. Actually, I don't want to get into a flame war here, so I'm going to run a test! Two bots similar to mine versus Grog. I'll post the results in a bit.
EDIT: Three out of three times using a pair of Ripblades, Grog was flipped over. I'd say that is a good sign for me.
-

My bot is also good at beating Grog, most of the time I can rip off one of the flails in one or two hits and it will flip Grog over onto its side.
-
Sage, is there going to be a rumble?
-
Sage allowed me to film a Rematch between Destroyer and Mako so that I could see who would of won if my weapon was working right.
Enjoy...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXidzxWIm1o
-
Hmmm...
That's how a Dual Perm is supposed to run (provided you have the stability) BUT...
Your bot wasn't AIed, which may have skewed your results...
-
-
do realize that arena is also wider, giving you more time to speed up your weapon.
-
actaully there were a myriad of technical difficulties with Psi that I hope are now fixed.
-
do realize that arena is also wider, giving you more time to speed up your weapon.
I was just using the arena I had that was the closest to the one in the tournament. And my weapon would of probably been at the same speed when they hit each other in the RAW arena.
I just did this to show what could of happened if I used a button instead of a switch.
-
Man, I fight the one bot in the tourney with an exposed top and no wedges, and it crawls up and blocks my weapon :( Plus my AI didn't always fire its weapon when it had the chance, even with the huge smart zone I gave it. I guess my flail bots work better with human drivers.
Looks like I fight Lu-tze next. If I couldn't beat GBBS, I don't have high hopes for Lu-tze, not with that spinner there in the way of the chassis. But maybe if I can out-wedge it and flip it.
I don't think Psi could have beaten Steel Meatball anyway, but technically it should have gotten free restarts in round 1 and round 3 (especially round 3). It was clearly flipped by a Havok exlposion from Steel Meatball's flails in both fights.
-
If i can get up to speed before the hum drums get in i'll probably win but if they get under me im done. SM has either aluminum 1 or titanium 1.
also its weapon set up is pretty different from grog. My irons hit harder and it does stop like grog does when you hit the hammers.
-
Is there any way you can make a file with all of the bots so we can download them on here like I heard CB is going to do with the BBEANS4 bots?
-
Round 2 Bracket 2 is UP!
I'm sorry if some of the previous matches had some issues (Psi vs steel meatball, Destroyer vs Mako) but it would be unfair to the winner if i restarted the whole thing and they lost, even if it was unfair to the loser in the first place. If it really was something in the AI or otherwise, you'll probably fight them again anyways.
Now that that's outta the way, go check up on the new vids!
-
FAIL.
BUT InfCon's faster now, by 50% nearly...
...whatever, I won.
___________
Next fight... MAKO 4! :dead:
EDIT: Wait, i'm going to have two fights with Jules now? Hazcon VS DOAM and Infcon VS Mako 4 ?
-

Its alright, the only thing I would of really wanted was a rematch that did not count [if the bot that lost won the rematch, it would not change the bracket] to see how things would of went.
The fights in this round were good, and I love that plasma beam that blows the other bot up when it goes OTA.
-
Whoa, didn't see that coming! Good fight, Kill343gs. Honestly, I think you have the better bot & I just got lucky.
Edit: Pinball next? Wow, Great. :ermm:
-
Okay, BLAH definitely has problems. You can hear the switch on his weapon flipping on and off. While I don't thihnk it would have changed the outcome on this fight, he's screwed if it's not fixed.
-
ha ha it gave me pleasure to see my bot get owned. anyways i dunno why classy kept tipping forwards. it has never done that before... gave pinball 2 free shots at my chassis that KO'd me. meh itv doesnt really matter i'd have got beat anyway.
-
Okay, BLAH definitely has problems. You can hear the switch on his weapon flipping on and off. While I don't thihnk it would have changed the outcome on this fight, he's screwed if it's not fixed.
That's Mako 4 with the switch. You can see that Blah has no trouble in its fight with Daisy Might. It just has a naturally slow spinup time. 280 kgs worth of hammers on a maybe 3-meter bar just doesn't spin up instantly, no matter what motor you use.
Skurge vs. Infernal Contraption: that's why I put an obstacle in the middle of the BBEANS arena. Still, I have to admit it's cool when a bot goes OOTA in this arena.
Sage has gotten a lucky break with first fighting Facemelikeaman, and then Classy Paintjob, but I suspect Mutant Dragonfly will give him a bit more trouble. Should be a good fight.
-
hey guys... looking at ACAMS complaints about tournament length, he seems really against losers brackets. i dont know if i should do them....
and if i do, should i do that next or finish the winners bracket?
-
yes do them. Don't fold under ACAMS' pressure.
-
You should definatly do them, because everyone in the losers brakcet had been waiting in anticipation for their fights. Also, since you already said there would be one it would be kinda stupid to all of a sudden just cut us out.
-
Personally I don't care either way (just do what you think is best), but for the sake of other people I don't think it's the best idea to say the tournament is double elimination at the start, and then say "Oh, by the way, there's no loser's bracket anymore" once there are people in it expecting to get a second fight. Especially with people that had potentially unfair losses in the first round like JoeCB1991.
-
And it's not like you aren't doing all your matches in a timely matter, it would be different if you were only uploading a round every few weeks or so.
-
I think you should for the reasons everyone else has been saying.
-
I thought it was Reier not Reiner.
-
I thought it was Reier not Reiner.
it is. ill change it when i have time. usually i try to get these things out in a hurry.
-
It's alright, I don't mind.
-
Can't wait for losers bracket videos... But I doubt I'll win since Classy has more powerful hammers.
BTW Sage- Is it just me or is the RAW website logo HUGE.
-
Logo looks fine to me Giga...
Mutant Dragonfly caused an upset like I predicted!
Can't wait for my fight against obZen! I think it'll be my last fight but I may get a TKO or KO to my name with my late weapon toggle change...
-
Loser Bracket 1 is UP!!
Includes the best and the worst fight of the tourney so far. go check it out!
-
... Worst fight of the tourney...
-
sorry to be so harsh, but when filming those long matches it's so much longer when you have to watch and record the whole thing.
-
I agree with you on the obZen vs. Archimandrite V match.
-
I really liked my bout. But I felt your pain sage.
-
:D Happy to have pleased you Sage...
GG R0B0, that was an awesome fight :D
I leave RAW with 2 TKO's which is WAY better than my BBEANS effort.
-
Ah well, I think Skurge did pretty well considering its opponents. It's battles were entertaining to say the least :P
I think I'll try and improve Flack and enter them in the next tournament I enter, as long as it has walls it can flip out of xD
-
I'm highly frustrated. MCB went under Skurge easily but InfCon can't. And MCB has NO wedges !
...Perhaps it's because MCB has NPC drive, and so he has extremely low ground clearance. But even with no wedges...
-
wow! nice fight giga. really thought i had no chance after the first bout. i was really lucky to win against you.
-
I like the black abyss of death.
-
Good fight Hazmat. Twas fun to watch.
Well, I get Pys next. I'm liking my chances with that match.
-
I hope we can download this Arena sometime, I just love that Plasma laser hazard
-
I hope we can download this Arena sometime, I just love that Plasma laser hazard
i'm thinking it will be a christmas present to all. (i celebrate it. if you are offended, then you don't need to download it.)
I also think RAW 2 will start then. cause that's when starcore said he might be able to enter.
keep in mind the winner does get the arena, along with the metallic bear claws. 2nd place gets the bear claws.
-
What type of tourney will RAW 2 be.
-
Wait. Who cares at this point?
-
Don't be so laid back, Inf. It's almost unhealthy.
-
How?
-
Agree with Inf.
Wait for the current tourney to finish before anything is decided. It just becomes complicated if we decide on a second tourney before the first one is finished.
-
Agreed. SB, give Sage a little time.
-
Yes, I guess you guys are right...
-
Loser Bracket 2 is up!!
go check it out.
-
At least the 3rd round went the way it did when I practiced it against a Daisy replica. I probably would of done better if the AI could turn the damn weapon off to balance itself after a hammer gets broken off....
But, the fight was pretty close, we both got some really good hits in.
-
Your bot is good, Joe. It does pretty well against Jules' bots, which are a kind of VS standard.
I probably would of done better if the AI could turn the damn weapon off to balance itself after a hammer gets broken off....
Yea, that's the problem with having such a weapon/chassis mass ratio; very effective, but tuff to stay upright. And with only 2 huge weapons, if you lose 1 it's even more unstable.
That was part of the reason that I tried to tweak out 6 big weapons instead of just 2. It's still unstable if it loses a hammer, yet not out of control. But then, the disk becomes a vulnerable point.
-
Your bot is good, Joe.
It is cool and very powerful, but it has too many weaknesses IMO.
-Not stable enough (well it's an über-powerful VS)
-Gravity center is too high ("lower is better")
-Weak defense.
Although Destroyer could have won that fight. You nearly put Daisy Might OOTA in the first and second matches.
That's why I generally don't put huge damn big weapons on my bots because they're not efficient then (proof, Grim Ripper 3 is powerful, fast and has decent defense, BUT is crap because unstable, this due to the powerful weapon placed too high/fast drive combo).
By the way, nice and exciting matches, for the majority.
Inf, Sorrow, best of luck to ya guys. Fast bots will rule!
-
I wasn't building it to be a defensive bot, it is just a big weapon, and that was all I intended it to be. Although I do have one that uses the same body, but has a Mako 1 style weapon.
And I am able to keep it from getting out of control like that. When one of the hammers falls off I can reverse the weapon and use it like a Hammer, and I learned how to drive on my back [which the AI didn't do] and run into the walls as quickly as I can to knock myself back over.
-
I think if I can hit Daisy's blade, I might have a shot.
-
I'll savor that win. Probably gon' be the only one I get.
-
Are you going to do the rankings and awards like CB does after the tournament is over Sage?
-
Does anyone think I would of done better if I entered this thing instead?
-
Yeah, I think it would have done more damage, and maybe a bit more powerful as well.
-
I think that that bot is better.
-
That last version should be better. Possibly less spinup time, two weapons (less wobbling), possibl more damage, and harder to block.
-
I have a version like that, and it would probably work better like that with the AI, but the one without the Bar is easier for me to self right when I knock myself over.
-
I guess Epic Flailure was an epic failure. Well, I knew what I was getting into when I entered. Hammer bots are tough to use, even tougher for AI.
What kind of armor does Lu-Tze have? It seemed like my flail was barely scratching it.
-
Err...can't quite remember. It's pretty heavy armor. I think it's big titanium.
The ol' girl can take quite a beating.
-
Yeah, that thing must have 5 or 10mm titanium. Which is the best heavy armor possible, that said.
-
Do we have anything to discuss about the Tournaments anymore?
-
yay this thread is dead.
-
until sage uploads a new round...
-
Oh well, we shouldn't rush him.
-
I'm sorry guys. been a lot I've been doing. the next round is almost done. just need to record one more fight and then add the titles and such. im planning it to be up tuesday at the latest, probably monday.
-
Okay, is it the winner's bracket?
-
This is the largest amount of pages i've seen in a GTM thread! 34 pages!:shock::shock::shock::shock:
-
Reminds me of Click and Starcore's old forum showcase threads.
-
Loser Brackets 1/2 are up!
some cool fights, few surprises.
-
Daisy using that disc like a shield was pretty entertaining, it looked like it was trying to jam the thing between Thor's blades which would be a smart tactic if there was some kind of backup weapon on Daisy...
-
I agree, Joe, it was funny. I laughed when I saw that; it was like a little crab with his shell, going in and out.
Daisy's out. This is her mechography (her life story) entitled:
"Please don't pick on the Daisies, but don't count on them either."
Well before, I had tried HS's with a plethora of 'piercing' damage weapons. So since I like inovative bots and also wanted to try concussion for a change (esp. knowing that Jules was going to have a kind of Mako entered), I built Daisy Might. She is a very 'heavy weaponry' and 'little protection' bot, trusting that the weapons will get the job done before significant damage can be returned....At least that was the idea, hehe.
When I tested Daisy Might, she did alot better than this. A disk problem was rare, but now I think CB was right in his assessment. I should have tested her more.... but probably cause of building the new arena ....
But as time permits, I'll tweak and test her more, and then..... she will return! So, Clear out, Hillary! Watch out Obama! Eat crow! Votre maman!(Translation for SpyGuy:"Yo' mama!").
..
-
I beat Daisy Might?!?!?!
*bows down* I am not worthy! I am not worthy!
-
I am not worthy! I am not worthy!
Theorically you're supposed to whip yourself while saying that...
_______
Mad are you calling that an innovative bot? Right, it is well-built, but IMO that huge god damn weapon is teh generic.
Again, fast and wedgy bots own in this arena. If they're well-built of course (and i spotted a bunch of flaws in IC2)
Do you guys noticed that all the DSL BBEANS were won by fast and wedgy bots?
-
Mad are you calling that an innovative bot? Right, it is well-built, but IMO that huge god damn weapon is teh generic. No, it's the combo of four 70kg dsl-4 hammers plus two 60kg sledge hammers on an HS that I've not seen before. And it's only mediocrely built, due to the disk weakness.
Again, fast and wedgy bots own in this arena. If they're well-built of course (and i spotted a bunch of flaws in IC2)...Do you guys noticed that all the DSL BBEANS were won by fast and wedgy bots? No disagreement here.
Nice job, SB
..
..
-
I loled at the Blah-Obzen fight. First three second kill I've seen in this tourney.
-
When will the winner's bracket be up, Sage? No rush, I'm just wondering.
-
When will the winner's bracket be up, Sage? No rush, I'm just wondering.
i have to do one more round of losers bracket, then i will do the winners again so more people can be sent to the loser's bracket.
im probably more excited then you are for the winners bracket :D
-
She is a very 'heavy weaponry' and 'little protection' bot, trusting that the weapons will get the job done before significant damage can be returned....At least that was the idea, hehe.
Mine was built like that too. Usually I can do enough damage to another bot to destroy it, immobilize it, or throw it out of the arena before my weapon breaks, so I did not really worry about putting too much protection on it.
But of course, human control is 1000 times better than AI control...
-
human control is 1000 times better than AI control...
False.
-
False.
Agreed. HazCon fights better AIed, as well as many, many rammers.
-
But there are those of us who are just great drivers... *ahem*
-
Sage?
-
no i think he means me
-
I'm the worst driver ever in-game, but amazing at remote control cars and such in the real world.
Kill means himself. You'd know if you faced him online.
-
I faced MPGW a long time ago online, but it lagged to heck so i couldn't really see anything about Kill's driving.
-
I was just going by how the AI can be really stupid in the game, and I can usually out drive the AI.
-
Looks like im up against Lu-Tze next, this match shouldnt take too long. Because im dead.
-
Depends of the wedge...
EDIT: Prediction time!
Philetbabe VS Dragonfire: Tie. Reminds me of GBBS's first fight, but Deprivator is faster and has WAY more plating than Morse Code Breaker. GBBS has it's chances because Deprivator is slow for a HW popup. But still, a popup is THE way to defeat GBBS.
Condor33 VS SD: Winner: Scrap Daddy. The HumDrums were lucky because they fell on two bots with DSA armor. In DSL, DSA is inferior to Plastic 1 and heavier. SM will spin up before the drums hit him, and will slowly rip off the wheels. There are few chances a drum like that can get under a HW shell spinner. Although there could be again a surprise.
Naryar VS Jules: Tie. I'm afraid for IC2, but still my wedges could get under Mako 4. Or we could collide head-on like in InfCon VS Lu-Tze Match 3... or i can lose horribly.
Sage VS Reier: Tie. Pinball's weapons are slightly tougher than MDIII's and Pinball could possibly hit MDIII's side, but Sage claims Pinball gets OOTA everytime...
MV VS R0B0: Tie. MCB has the best ground clearance in all the tournament, but has no wedges. obZen has wedges but issues with them. Again, best wedge wins, but who has the best wedge?
Gigafrost VS Kill: Winner: Possibly Gigafrost. Nightmare VS Son of Whyachi anyone?
Sorrow VS Somebody: Winner: Sorrow.Sorrow claims Lu-Tze has a crappy wedge, but she still went under Epic Flailure, and Epic Flailure is built by Click. And seeing how Thor 3 got dominated by Deprivator, that has a decent wedge, Lu-Tze has it's chances.
Inf VS SSG: Winner: Inf. Psi's wedge is vital for winning, whereas Smoker's Revenge is just defensive. Adding to that Psi has less ground clearance than SR's. That said, I'm pretty sorry for you SSG.
-
Pinball's weapons are slightly tougher than MDIII's...
We have the exact same weapons, Nar.
-
Not exactly, Reier. Both of you got 2 70kg hammers, but Pinball has some DSL bars too, that make decent damage. And that could possibly help.
EDIT: Sorrow, Thor is invertible.
-
P1NB4LL 15 G01NG T0 SM0K3 M3!!1!1! 1m t04st.
-
Wait, when I'm thinking of it, MD3 has small two DS teeth and two defensive DSL bars too, that makes it equal Pingall, but since Sage is going to hit only one side, you're still slightly disadvantaged.
-
Thor 3 is invertible, and works just the same. That is the reason of the typhoon spikes, as sort of casters.
-
Huh.
Oh, and SB: I know which fight your avatar is. K2 vs. 2EZ. First hit. K2 ripped 2EZ's blade off. The blade came down and nailed 2EZ.
Robogames 2008. I was there.
-
Awesome. I was wondering who the bots were. I thought the big one was Ziggy, because that is what I searched on Google Images. I love that bot.
-
You're about 280 lbs. off. These little buggers are lightweights.
Here's the fight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7Tn7RiAo6c
-
That can't be it. The bots don't look the same.
-
thats not your sig. but sorow is right. about the actual bots and their weight class. one of them is definitely a drum by way of direction of sparks.
-
One of them is big with a wedge, and another one is smaller with a sparky drum.
That is about all I know.
-
You're about 280 lbs. off. These little buggers are lightweights.
Here's the fight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7Tn7RiAo6c
God Technology has gotten so much better than the BattleBots days.
-
Hrmmm...that may be Ziggy on the left, but the only SHW with a drum is Gerald.
K2's got a big wedge that feeds into the discs, and that one on the right is reminiscent of 2EZ's body shape, but the K2 v 2EZ hit didn't spark very much...quite the conunDRUM.
-
Round 3 winners bracket is up!!!
some really good fights here. go check it out!
-
I wonder if anyone will even notice that this went up because of the Election.
-
you did :D
-
Because it just ended, and my guy lost so I'm not very happy. But hopefully Obama does well over the next four years.
-
Mutant Dragonfly vs Pinball was great.
HumDrums almost pulled off another upset, but they kept killing themselves and having huge driving problems. I wonder how good they could be with no AI deficiencies.
-

its not the ai. the huge wheels coupled with fast drive and light chassis make it really hard to drive anyway. I tried many things to fix them, but once i did, they always were very slow, and didnt do very well.
-
I am DISGUSTED.
Infcon drove like a bitch, just like HazCon VS Enfilad3, and should have won.
Especially at round 2, when I had Mako nearly dead in a corner and InfCon had the countdown, the dumbass charged backwards. Charged !
But I spotted another of InfCon's weakness... not enough total power. Should have added something like 6 ant batts and one battlepack rather than 4 battlepacks.
Won't make that error anymore.
-
Wow. Didn't expect that, Sage. Good match, MD3 usually stinks against Sns.
-
Mutant Dragonfly is officially my favorite bot of this tourney.
-
Wow, really? Thanks!
-
philetbabe: King of the Improbable Runs.
MD3/Hum Drums-Faves.
-
philetbabe: King of the Improbable Runs.
That's no luck, just voodoo magic !
-
Mah faves: Pinball, Mako 4, & Obzen.
Woot! Iys ah Midlewait!!1!11!
-
That's no luck, just voodoo magic !
Those crazy Frenchies. You guys are pretty good with tourneys arent you...
2 chapionships
2 Improbable runs.
-
They cheat :P
And Naryar, I disagree. Mako 4 should have won, and did, all the way.
-
Oh-no. Mutant Dragon Fly 3 Vs. Mako 4 This should be intresting.
-
No cheating, just cunning.
Well, I didn't used much in building InfCon...
Anyways, Mako 4 won and it's now my favorite for winning the tourney.
Predictions:
Good Bye Blue Sky VS Steel Meatball: Tie. I suppose GBBS has 60kg's. If then, he has slightly more HP's in his weapons that SM, that means a possible WBP by GBBS, but it is highly possible that GBBS loses a tread and then he is screwed. Oh, and GBBS can win because of SM's possible havoks with the flails. I'm sure of two things: there won't be many KO's and this will be a yawner.
Mutant Dragonfly II VS Mako 4: Winner Mako 4. I doubt MDIII's wedges are as good as Mako 4's. Both bots are decently fast and then MDIII could get over Mako 4 with the speed of the first impact, and then he's screwed. It is higly possible than if MDIII fires it's hammers and it touches Mako 4's ones, MDIII will be slightly thrown upwars, giving the edge to Mako 4.
MetalikVyper VS R0B0SH4RK: Winner: Tie. MCB has no wedges but an amazing ground clearance. obZen has wedges but less ground clearance. The first that can get under the other bot wins.
Man Manu VS Kill343gs: Winner: Possibly Kill. Either Far Cry will throw Classic Paintjob upwards and rape it, either Classic Paintjob will throw Far Cry sidewards, ripping off one or two discs . But, if Kill loses some hammers on one of it's discs, he won't wobble as much as MM if he loses one, and that will possibly happen. and if CP Mauler dances, FC will clearly have the edge.
Sorrow VS Somebody: Winner: Tie. Two average wedges, not more. TFirst that gets under it's opponent wins.
somestrangeguy VS InfiniteInertia: Winner: Inf. Psi has a better wedge and better ground clearance than Smoker's Revenge, without mentioning SR has DSA. DSA sucks BIG TIME in DSL and is heavier than Plastic 3.
-
its not the ai. the huge wheels coupled with fast drive and light chassis make it really hard to drive anyway. I tried many things to fix them, but once i did, they always were very slow, and didnt do very well.
The moral: Don't put fat boy wheels on npc fasts, especially on a robot capable of gyro dancing and with an off-centered center of gravity. Dang. Well, there's still the loser brackets.
-
Without mentioning that fatboys aren't efficient wheels (heavy and mediocre grip), and using them for side defense is a bad idea.
I would have used 3mm titanium armor at least (aluminium isn't weight-efficient at all, kinda like pink batts) and tornado wheels.
-
Mutant Dragonfly has proved to be one of the toughest bots of the tournament thus far, taking out 2 of the favorites to win (Not to brag, but remember people's predictions). THAT is why it is my favorite bot.
-
you also have to remember i flung myself OOTA the two times i lost, and i got a KO when i didnt...

Agree'd
-
you also have to remember i flung myself OOTA the two times i lost, and i got a KO when i didnt...
If we were in a closed arena, Sage would've walloped me.
-
He knew what arena was being used and still chose a bot prone to going OOTA, that's on him and not you.
-
Predictions:
Morse Code Breaker vs. obZen
Winner: obZen
ObZen will win, and the proof is in the wedges.
Classy Paintjob vs. Far Cry
Winner: Far Cry
Far Cry's discs will uped CP and hit its bottom until it gets a KO.
Thor 3 vs. Lu-tze
Winner: Thor 3
Lu-Tze will do its box rush, but it will probably flip, and it isn't invertible, but Thor 3 is. I just noticed that they are right next to each other in the splash
Smoker's Revenge vs. Psi
Winner: Smoker's Revenge
Psi will probably get around Smoker's Revenge and do some quick damage, but the weapons just don't seem powerful enough to me.
-
Lu-Tze may not be invertible, but she can bounce back onto her feet if she hits a wall.
Or Thor can just hit her. She's armored like a tank.
-
Psi is faster than SR, right? Then I'd say Im toast, might have a chace if I had put on titanium 3(or was that 5?), as that is the best I can put on and the weight doesnt change.
-
Titanium 3 is heavier than DSA.
Plastic 3 is nearly the same weight, light armor.
-
aluminum three is the exact same weight as DSA, if im not mistaken.
-
hey guys i was watching a match and i noticed fight 2 and fight 3 were Exactly the same video!
Kill343gs vs reier.
and fights 2 and 3 reier ends on the same amount of points at exactly the same time using the exact series of moves...

Kill343gs vs reier.

damn. sometimes that happens. Its very confusing the way FRAPS saves the the matches. (for example- 20-18-38-19-38 DSL) so sometimes i out the same one in twice without knowing it.
all i can say is i wrote the summary of the match right after watching it, so that is correct. the 2nd and 3rd fight as basically the same anyways. the match outcome is the same.
-
Phew...=P
-
Any idea when the next vids will be up?
-
Any idea when the next vids will be up?
i'm doing the next round of the losers bracket right now.
i ran into technical difficulties (such as, recording and editing a whole match that wasnt on the brackets, because i mixed up the builders name with their bots.)
i have one match completely done, 1 filmed and ready to be edited, and 2 yet to be filmed.

Predictions
Mako 4: And I thought my bot was heavily armored, this bot should go very far, with its tough weapons and impenetrable armor. Correct
Archimandrite V: A very powerful VS with a great design, making the Dual Perm hard to hit, this bot should do well. Incorrect
Lousy Launcher: I am surprised that this is the only flipper in the tourney. Alot of open chassis space though, and I am worried that the polycarbonate wedges are a little weak, and might not be very wedgy. Correct
Speed King: Wheels are a little exposed, but should be a quick SnS. Robot X Swords are Weight Wasters to me. Correct
Destroyer: The Bars will be susceptible to wedges, and the Dual Perm is begging to be hit, but it should be powerful. Correct
Goodbye Blue Sky: a HW BrasOuvert. Tough hammers at the front, but better side protection in the treads. Could be a dark horse Correct
Facemelikeaman: I don't think that these UNBALANCED STOCK PARTS are fair. They should be fixed before Facemelikeaman can compete. It will not go far anyways though. Correct
Thor 3: I know that this bot is better than all of you think, because I built it. It has superior armor all around, and the wheels are not a problem. Should win some matches. I also put in some extra stuff such as doubling the bars on the spinners and making it invertible. Correct
Lut-ze: A very good bot, but a little fast and might have wedge problems. Correct
Pinball: A fixed Inertial Deathlock III, should go very far, as long as it faces bots it is good against (unlike IDIII) Correct
Infernal Contraption: One of the favorites to win the tourney, if Hazcon has any indication. Incorrect
Skurge: This bot has good drive and okay weapons, but the disc part should be farther out. This bot will not do well. Correct
PSI: A heavily guarded bot, but weak in the weapons department. Will not get many KOs, though it could be like a RRG?. Correct
Far Cry: A very good and heavily armored VS. Should go far. Correct
Smoker's Revenge: A VERY good HS, and should go far. The skirts are nothing to worry about. Correct
Classy Paintjob: Too big of a chassis, though it is probably hiding a Dual Perm. Something tells me that this bot will not go far. Incorrect
T O R Q U E: You just love that spacebar between letters Gigafrost. If a hammer comes off because of a flipper part this bot will mauler dance for a LONG time. Correct
Obzen: A very good Popup, and should do well. Correct
Morse Code Breaker: Kind of like a Gammaraze, but the lack of skirts, armor on the wedge, or bigger grippier wheels will be its downfall. Incorrect
Deprivator: Good protection with the Titanium Sheets and snowplows, a good popup. Correct
Epic Flailure: SF's older brother, weapon is not much more powerful though. Correct
Shadow: A good VS, but exposed motors and not good wedge will doom this bot. Correct
Hum-Drums: A couple of adequate MW's make up the okay tandem. Wheels will be a problem though. Correct
P-AI-Daisy Might-50: WOW, I would have lined up the hammers on this phenomonal spinner. Incorrect, even though splash pic was different when I wrote this.
BLAH: Nice name, nicer bot. Should go very far with this devastating weapon.Incorrect
Steel Meatball: Should do about as good as it's smaller brother, but should still go far. Correct
Mutant Dragonfly III: Tough weapons, and all-around good bot. Correct
Midseason Updates. My opinion on my predictions.
-
Loser's Bracket 1&2 are up!
some cool matches, and an 'easter egg' is in one of the fights as well.
-
My fight went pretty much how I expected it to go, CPJ pulled off a huge upset there, Somebody got absolutely pwned, and so did Smoker's Revenge. Apart from my fight (boring as heck), all of the others were great.
-
Awesome. 4 3-0 matches.
Thor vs Lu-Tze was the ultimate ninja fight (yes it was accelerated but still great), FarCry got raped (I knew Classy had a chance, but not that much of a chance), and SR got owned too (as i thought).
R0B0 well... not very interesting, but still, 3-0.
More, two of these fights show that fast'n'wedgy bots are superior to slow HS.
Now... Inf...
-
i'm running out of space for the page numbers...
im doing like 2 more rounds of loser's brackets before we get back the the quarter finals, so those with bots still in the winners bracket will have to wait a bit. Sorry guys, but i want the brackets to be even.
-
Er...Sage, Lu-Tze can drive upside-down. You might want to check the AI.
-
Classy Paintjob strikes again! This bot is doing alot better than i first thought it would do. I was hoping to get one win if i was lucky.
-
I saw this coming. Wonder if it would have lasted a bit longer if it had Alunium3 as armor?
-
Hey, SSG, both of our bots are based off of the same design, and both got out at the same time.
-
Er...Sage, Lu-Tze can drive upside-down. You might want to check the AI.
i noticed it after the first fight. the second two use an AI code that makes it invertible. you just might not realize cause its bouncy.
-
Hmm...Am I correct in assuming that my next opponent is Pinball?
This'll be entertaining.
-
Hmm...Am I correct in assuming that my next opponent is Pinball?
This'll be entertaining.
yes. I'm looking forward to it.
-
Er...Sage, Lu-Tze can drive upside-down. You might want to check the AI.
That happens sometimes, mine can also run upside down but the AI didn't let it. Which was a shame because I can drive into the wall and flip myself over when I play with it.
-
Bump.
Soooo...how about that next round?
-
Bump.
Soooo...how about that next round?
Hey hey... don't rush me. You have no idea how much stuff I've had to do.
Just today in fact, i woke up at 6:00 AM and didn't get home till 6:00 PM.
I've had 3 huge tests in school this past week, along with a Literary Analysis for English class I had to write. I promise i will get the rounds up... don't worry.
-
Sorry, that came out wrong.
I meant "how about the next round?" in the same way one would say "how 'bout them Cubs"?
Just a way to start a discussion.
-
School, they always try to lump it on before Christmas.
-
Yep... I have to write an essay on a book I read before Thanksgiving Break.
-
You guys can't just STOP bumping the thread for nothing? Sage WILL do it.
-
I have the next round all recorded. just need to put in the titles and such.
wont be up by tonight unless you get lucky that i can finish my homework quickly.
putting in the test is such drab work... i think im gonna have to spice things up in the winners bracket.
im sad about this round. there were two matches i was pretty upset about.
-
You guys can't just STOP bumping the thread for nothing? Sage WILL do it.
HAHAHAHA!!!!!.........coming from anybody else that might mean something.
-
What are you insinuating ?
-
I'm insinuating you make 8.2666666666 posts EVERY day......you have responded to, or bumped every topic on this board.
-
Nevertheless, he's got a nice Sig...
But so do you, ACAMS.
--------------
Can't wait for the vids, Sage.
(BTW, I'll be on MSN tomorrow)
-
Hah hah haaah.
I can't wait for the wheely big cheese pics.
Or the ones of Mousetrap.
-
Nevertheless, he's got a nice Sig...
But so do you, ACAMS.
That was a good find, unless you made it then it is even better.

The Next round is up!
go to the first page and check it out!

First round rematch. obZen vs. Deprivator.
-
First round rematch. obZen vs. Deprivator.
remember when i said it was taking a while cause i recorded the wrong match?
that was it. so the next round could possibly be up tomorrow. (it IS only 2 fights, and one is fully recorded)
-
Yay. I'm glad I put rear stabilizing sheets on InfCon.
Thing that makes me happy is that i'm confident about winning the next two fights (I have already beaten Lu-Tze and i can do it again, and both of SM and GBBS have no wedges and vulnerable undersides)...
You'd better not lose and fight me, R0B0!
-
Awww... RIP Hum-Drums. Actually, I think I could have won that if they hadn't driven like they were intoxicated :-(
-
Aww man. Deprivator again? Hopefully I can do what Naryar did to me in BBEANS, and get a little revenge.
You better not lose either, Nary. I'm comin' for ya!
-
Oh, come ON.
InfCon AGAIN?
Meh. I could win. Stranger things have happened.
-
Awww... RIP Hum-Drums. Actually, I think I could have won that if they hadn't driven like they were intoxicated :-(
I bet they don't drive straight in the garage test...
And Sage should have reduced their 'turnspeed' value.
-
they don't drive straight at ALL. It's the off-center perm and the huge wheels that screws it up when humans are driving, but a human can work around that. AI can't.
-
I bet they don't drive straight in the garage test...
And Sage should have reduced their 'turnspeed' value.
i tried. i spent a good hour trying to fix the little guys. when they were finally able to drive better, they were dreadfully slow and almost useless. The way they are now was their most effective.
-
Sage was rooting for the humdrums from the start, and he made it his goal to make them work as well as possible and in turn rushed the AI of some of his bigger enemies such as a certain super-scary VS that got knocked out a little sooner than most would have expected...
I kid, I kid. I really wanted to see those little pains in the you-know-what go far too.
-

One of the reasons I said that humans drive better than the AI....
I would like to see how a revised version of the Hum Drums works.
-
I would like to see how a revised version of the Hum Drums works.
I'm almost tempted to make a version of them for whatever tourney shows up after ELBITE
-
sorry about the delay guys. i havnt been home much the past few days, and before that was really, really busy. the next round will be up today though, i promise.
-
Cool. Thanks for the heads up.
-
Sure, take your time.
Edit: Is it the winner's or loser's bracket?
-
Alright!
The next round is up. I did both brackets this time.
Enjoy!
-
Cool.
Edit: Why does Steel Meatball look like it has no top disc?
-
And why are the iron spikes green & the skirts wood-textured? Actually IMO MDIII looks pretty cool with wooden skirts.
Well, the match went about like I expected. Good job, Jules. MDIII has an awful wedge, and since it looks like I'm up against R0B0 in the next round, that little factor isn't going to help. It was nice while it lasted, though. =P
-
Is steel meatball frickin' invincible?
yes :-D
....but i dont like my chances against jules
-
It will be very interesting.
PSI didn't win, but i think my higher angled wedges might be able to knock you off balance easier.
I'm just happy I've made it this far.
-
Cool.
Edit: Why does Steel Meatball look like it has no top disc?
because i used the same disc in BOTM. haven't changed anything back. thats also why the skirts are wooden. i changed all the extender colors to wood, and i guess the skirts use the same skins.
-
Naaaaaaaryarrrrrrrr, I'm coming for youuuuuuu.
But Reier's in the way D:
I'm a little concerned. MDIII's one tough bot.
Funny, you get GBBS, which operates under the same sort of principal as MDIII.
-
Philetbabe, you just do not belong with metallic pasta.
-
R0B0, your wedge is WAY better than mine, plus MDIII has no bottom armor.
Ur popup wil killz mee! =P
Dunno, maybe a miracle will happen. XD
-
Lu-tze kicked the crap out of InfCon, leaving him wiht barely ANY health. Then, InfCon gets back up, and I' like NO. FREAKIN.
Lu-Tze gets 1 KO.
Best. Description. Ever
I cannot stop loling and this. ROFL.
-
Best. Description. Ever
I cannot stop loling and this. ROFL.
Im glad you enjoyed it. I sure did.
-
I think that Inf-Con is going to win this tournament...
-
Philetbabe, you just do not belong with metallic pasta.
bad time for me !
GBBS was better than Bras Ouvert. i think i have progressed but I realize now all the weakness of GBBS and the long road i've still to climb : no wedge, too slow. Participating in a tourney is a very good way to progress.
-
Two yawners, one ownage and one i'm-not-done-yet fights. Hmm.
Anyways, i picture easily InfCon, obZen and Mako 4 winning their next fights...
So how many are still in competition? 6? hehe.
-
Hey, Naryar, lookie what I just found:
I bet obZen is going to own InfCon if they fight.
:O
Just one more win for each of us...
-
pinball could beat both inf con and obzen. too bad it lost before hand.
-
R0B0: I was underestimating InfCon back in the day ! (and being modest in my DSL skills)
Sage: It just COULD. InfCon has the speed (and fighting spirit like his little bro) to cause Pinball trouble.
-
Argh...Aw, heck, if I had to lost to somebody...
Best of luck, Naryar.
-
Next round is up!
Go watch, if you dare...
-
Wow, I did not see that coming. Good job Reier and philetbabe.
-
With me and R0B0 failing (my worst match including InfCon driving like a bitch) together, Jules is my favourite to win, and i know Reier won't do it, but SD and Phil have also their chances for the championship.
-
Two big upsets in my mind. No offense to either winner I just never saw it coming. Those were the two bots that I saw as the biggest threat.
-
Oh, forgot to mention: If you notice some random invisible components (InfCon's left set of wheel motors and his disc) don't mind it. They are still there, but those were some of the components i used to make mace-y's parade tree invisible. havnt swapped them back yet.
As for the fights, huge upsets for me. But im voting for Steel Meatball.
-
To be honest If I wasn't the one facing Steel Meatball my vote would be with him.
Seeing it rip all those hammers off was scary.
-
Well then...
Told ya I was concerned Reier.
I think Naryar somehow rigged it so I wouldn't get my chance to pwn him :O
Seriously now, could you do a grudge match at the end of the tourney for me and Naryar? That would be great.
-
Seriously now, could you do a grudge match at the end of the tourney for me and Naryar? That would be great.
Hey, that's a good idea, especially when i see that obZen is kind of poorly built :icon_twisted:
-
How the heck.... Inf-Con lost?
-
Hey, that's a good idea, especially when i see that obZen is kind of poorly built :icon_twisted:
Well, don't forget, who else lost this round? Oh yeah, that's right: YOU.
InfCon's no better built by any strech of the imagination.
-
Ha! InfCon is faster, but more importantly the wedge is flatter (which means get really under the other bot easily and making the weapons harder to rip off).
And InfCon 3 will have a wedge five times better, moar battery life and moar HP's into it's weapons.
obZen isn't even a true gut-ripper bot as all popups are... (though I agree with it being one of the better contestants in that tournament)
-
I guess I won't rain on your parade and show you the new obZen then... just keep on posting that you're the best. It'll make your loss to me all the more humiliating.
-
HA! We'll see about that!
I completely changed the style of my HW wedges and NO stock bot can consistently get under them (see HnM 3).
EDIT: V QFT V

Achievements:
Co-Champion of Tag Team Challenge Tourney
4th Place in BBEANS 4
2 Time Winner of Bot of the Mont
I've changed my signature too, it's time to get a little bit pretentious after all.
-
=O I killed R0B0? (eh, it was only a WBP.) I was actually looking forward to seeing the Nar vs. R0B0 match.
Sage, for some reason the RAW tourney index isn't working for me.
-
Jules is going to win. I see it coming.
-
Yeah, Mako is the best one that is still in the Tournament.
-

Sage, for some reason the RAW tourney index isn't working for me.
really? works for me and everyone else. try it again later.
-
Yeah, it works fine now for some reason.

I want to see Reier win. That would make my day.

I want to see Reier win. That would make my day.
Really? Thanks!

LOL WERE ALL GOING WILD !!!!!11!!1oneoneone
... nevermind, wanted to post something really random. I can't wait for the next guy that'll put these in his sig.
I don't think Reier will win - but still, MDIII will definitely have Best Rookie.
-
I don't think Reier will win - but still, MDIII will definitely have Best Rookie.
I don't think I'll win either. Oh and Nary, technically we are all rookies on this tourney! =P
-
I was talking about you being the best newbie of the tourney, building a really efficient bot after only 3 months of building.
-
Next Round is up! We're down to three bots... who will be the CHAMPION!?
And yes i will do a grudge match for naryar and robo. should be cool.
-
Scrap Daddy: Gourmet chef of metallic pasta
Philetbabe: Give him a hammer and he can change things (most likely bots)
Nice job guys
Edit: And I have an achievements thing now
-
SMB is now my fave to win. Well done to all who got this far.
-
Good job Phil!
I'm actually suprised I got this far on my first tourney. My bot isn't really that good, I just had an uber-case of good luck. =P
Still, making it to the semis isn't bad at all.
-
Good job Phil!
Thank's, i really did not though my bot should go so far. anyway, for Gumba, Elbite and Wild robot, i let the hammer down. but i'm ever surprise by both my luck (i thing i have some) and the inventive diversity of the bots. More over, some "failed bot" sometime may make good basis for better ones. In bbean 4, Interventionism did not go far, but there's something good behind.
I hope all the bots of this contests will be shared as it has been done for BBean. It's a good way to progress.
I agry with Nar, you've done a really, really nice bot Reir, please to meet you.
-
holy sh**...
-
Loser Bracket Finals are up!
-
I officially name GBBS as the Best Boring Bot ever.
And that finale is going to be unlike all others in DSL: a yawner, and a god damn SLOW HS will win, rather than a fast and wedged bot.
...Well, with me eliminating the two other fast and wedgy bots...
Still, congrats to you two. And there is a French bot in finale!
EDIT: VV also R1185 is right. Meatball already won one fight and seeing the two bots style there is no way GBBS can win VV
-
Final predictions:
The Meatball will win. No question about that. Still, good job philetbabe. You made it to the finals.
-
Just a rematch, I think that Steel Meatball will win, but stranger things have happened. (see: Ripterra beating DOAM once)
-
yes, but can GBBS win 4/6?
-
ive gotten so lucky. I would have easily lost to Naryar and RS.
Not to mention I should have lost to inf
-
True. As good as Steel Meatball is, it really hasn't faced any of the bots that could give it any trouble whatsoever. It'll win easily over GBBS, and it will win the tourney because it hasn't faced the best bots in the field.
All types of bots have weaknesses, and shell spinners are bad against wedges.
Funny thing is, I think HazCon could beat MDIII and obZen could beat GBBS, but it just didn't work out that way...
-
@Somebody: That's something really different. Ripterra VS DOAM was a VS against a HS. Driving was much important and Ripterra flanked DOAM who had WEDGES.
Not here. We have a sloooow poker VS a shell spinner. GBBB can't flank SM. GBBS IS going to have it's hammers ripped as we already saw.
Only a havok can make GBBS win, or a big AI error, like GBBS pinning SM, but in now way it can do that.
@SD: True. Although i'm not sure about R0B0.
@R0B0: Although i agree on the shell spinner weakness, i'm not sure if your razors could stand up to GBBS or SM's incessant battering.
I'm stating the obvious: obZen IS a good bot but it suffers from being too steep and tall for a popup, and not enough weapons.
As InfCon 2 has wasted weight (the teeth plus bad battery setup, but i was a newbie about batteries in DSL then) and low battery power.
-
Strange tourney isn't it?
GBBS has shown that is it possible to win without getting under ones bot. after the Mako-like fashion will there be a GGBS like fashion ?
future improvment : create a 'speedy GBBS' that should give a little interest in it fight.
-
GBBS like fashion... i doubt about that.
And if then, then nobody will have wedges and it will be a field day for undercutter wedge builders like me, R0B0 and Jules
-
Naryar, I just meant that really strange and unpredicted things have happened. Who here actually thought that Ripterra could have beaten DOAM once, and nearly twice, before the match and before reading Clickbeetle's summary.
Edit: Can anyone post the videos of GBBS vs. Mako 4 and any videos after on Youtube possibly. It is not my laptop I am using, and the person who owns it said: "Don't download ANYTHING!". It doesn't have Windows Media Player 10.
-

it should just stream online...

The RAW page isn't working.

The RAW page isn't working.
now THAT is a problem. I haven't changed anything... ACAMS!!!!!!!
just kidding. But i don't know whats wrong.

I am beggining to think more and more that those axle havoks, which grant free restarts are a bit unfair. The axle havoks I have seen almost always happen when the bot with axles is close to death, but since the axles havok, the bot gets a free restart, taking away the opposing bots chance for a K.O. Just an observation I have. :|
-

yes, but if it happens again, they lose.
-
I do agree with Urjak. I bet Mako 4 would have won if there was no havok from SM.
Basically, that shell spinner does wield havok as a shield!
-
I've made a youtube account for RAW. However, i don't have the time to upload all the videos. If someone would like to (or several people), pease do so.
The accounts name is: RAWTournamentVideos
the password is: raw123
im pretty sure you can download off the front page.
Thanks to all who participate. (and remember to name the videos similarily)
-
wen i get bord in the next 6 hrs ill do some. RAW-Round-Bots is how ill name them. im doing round one both brackets now thats all i can say for the next hr or 2
-
twin post sry.
ok the first round is uploading now ill do some more, i might even get them all done.
not tonight i got the first 14 uploaded though.

Nice! Thanks a bunch.
-
GBBS is the bot that won't die. My glorious power returned and I got to see the vid on my comp that was locked in powerless nothingness. I think that it is good that the vids are on Youtube for other people to see.
-
ill get round 2 done tonight if i have time. sry i didnt get them all.
-
The vid of A.T.2 (shadow) vs. Kill343gs (Far Cry) is 1 second long. (Youtube vid).
-
GBBS is the bot that won't die.
Except once, when it fought Steel Meatball. And if that fight was any indication, it will lose again in the finals, and Scrap Daddy will be the champion. Mako 4 had a chance for a revenge win, but GBBS would have to get ridiculously lucky to beat Steel Meatball when it already lost 0-3.
I don't have a problem with the Havok explosion restart rules I used for BBEANS. The free restarts don't make Steel Meatball unbeatable--just look at Iron Spaghetti vs. Ham-mer Sandwich in BBEANS4. And while it looked like Mako 4 had Steel Meatball beaten when Havok interfered, there's no way to know for sure. Steel Meatball already proved it can come back and win even when it's one hit away from death.
-
Sorry it's taking so long for the finals. I've had so much homework to do before winter break, i didn't have a chance to do any of this. (I had to do claymation for an english project. if anyone know what claymation is, they know it takes forever.)
When i do post, i will have the finals, the rumble, and the obZen vs. Infernal contraption grudge match.
-
Great. My school got off from last Thursday (12th) until after Christmas break (Jan 5th) because of the ice storm. And the best part is that some of my teachers were planning on giving homework over Christmas Break !
-
Were I live, Ice storms SUCK. This year alone, we got over 18 inches in some places, PLUS its below freezing.
-
My Break started on Thursday, and Finals were pretty easy for me. I did study anything the night before, I just went into the classes and I did my work. Still passed.
For me, School is easy as long as I pay attention in class and do my work. The only thing I have a hard time with is Math.
-
I'm a...nerd. I have never been off the honor roll (all A's and B's) since it started in 4th grade. I have won two school spelling bees. (5th and 8th grade), but I play sports so I am not a complete nerd. The first spelling bee, the kid who finished in second place lives down my street.
-
If all A's and B's make you a nerd, then I'm super-nerd. (Straight A's all 8th grade with no A-'s) (And straight A's first quarter of ninth grade.)
-

Jeeezzzzzzz.... Those are GREAT grades. I like spiders, thus I am automatically a nerd. (Everyone I know considers me a nerd.)
I don't mind though, being a nerd is a complement to me.:-D
-

I agree completely. I have nobody that smart at my school (that I know of).
-
Well I guess that is kinda... erm... cool...
-
So RAW 1 now comes to close. It's been fun, with many exciting matches and upsets. Even if the championship isn't as exciting as it should be, the rest of the tourney has been great. I expect to begin RAW 2 soon, and it shouldn't be too far away. Until then, congratulations to all participants!
As for the rumble, it's on the brackets page. It has a very interesting twist, I must say.
And because they asked for it, I did a grudge match for Naryar Vs. Robosh4rk.
Watch it HERE (http://raw.gametechmods.com/vids/Grudge.wmv).
I'll make a Awards thread right away.
-
Luckiest win ever...
-
I love Mr obvious!
-
Wow, 2:30 in the second match, GBBS's damage, I've never seen anything go down like that. Congrats Scrap Daddy and Philetbabe.
btw, Goo Bye Blue Sky was one of the last bots I expected in the finals when the tourney started. (but I thought it was a rammer)
InfCon=Lucky bot
obZen=beaten bot
-
Rumble = EPIC WIN
Grudge match = Hell yeah!
Final = yawn.
Anyways, props to Scrap Daddy for winning this (lucky, but SM is still a nice bot).
-
yay
-
But GBBS wins the disappearing D award
-
Thank you sage for the monster job you've done and all the thrills we had during this tourney.
Championship are one of the best way to learn building bots and it's a great pleasure for lonely players to meet other people on a ring.

Theres all the bots. Make sure they work and such. Just add the files to your AI folder, and overwrite your current bindings.
-
You might want to tell them to edit their Teams.txt file.
EDIT: This is really cool, thanks Sage!
-
What do I do with the txt. file? I put the files in my teams folder but nothing is showing up.
-
What do I do with the txt. file? I put the files in my teams folder but nothing is showing up.
put the .txt file in your AI folder. overwrite the old one.
-
There was a txt file included!?
-
Well... Sage, there is ATOM in your bindings, so overwrite = do not want.
-
I put the teams in the AI folder (with their current numbers), and overwrote the bindings. For some reason, the last 5 teams (Radioactive meltdown, BBEANS Champions, Robot Arena Reincarnated, Arthrobotics, and Team RA2) now won't work. Those teams disappeared from the AI folder, so now it has teams 1-15, 20-25 (RAW teams), and the bindings have all of the teams, and the RAW teams wont show up!
Edit: There is also "Popdown 2" where roly Poly should be, and some spaces in Daisy Might's and good bye blue sky's lines. has anyone else gotten this working?
Edit 2: Bots 0-5 are bots from Radioactive Meltdown.
I know I messed up something, but I don't know how I can fix it.
-
I don't have a txt. file in there...
-
The teams.txt has to be edited to allow the AI to show up.
-
What do I do I put in the txt. file?
-
HAHA sorry guys. I thought i was using my unmodded DSL to do this. I also forgot to add the new Teams.txt file.
Here's the new link.
https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/3908RAW Bots.rar (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/4379RAW%20Bots.rar)
-
ive screwed up my DSL enough anyways. I'm gonna save out my Team and Custom Textures folders and reload it.
-
This is weird: when I try and open the last RAW team, my game crashes.
-
I'm gonna wait it out until it works right.
-
This is weird: when I try and open the last RAW team, my game crashes.
Same here, but the rest of them work for me.
-
easy fix i think... go into the teams.txt and go to the last team. where it says bots:0 1 2 3 4 5 get rid of 4 and 5.
i updated it in the link too, if you are too lazy.
https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/3908RAW Bots.rar (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/4379RAW%20Bots.rar)
-
It all works fine for me, after some quick changes to the bindings and teams.txt, it is really cool. Thanks again Sgae!
-
It works now. But Epic Failure locked up the game for me.
And I found out that I would of beaten Steel Meatball if I fought it [I used the AI], but Havok was still a pain in the ass.
-
yea epic flailure had its own .py thing that clickbeetle wrote. I hope this is the last time i re-upload it.
https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/3908RAW Bots.rar
-
Far Cry has 2 spaces in the bindings (listed as "Far Cry"), Should this be fixed?
-
Far Cry has 2 spaces in the bindings (listed as "Far Cry"), Should this be fixed?
NO. It's because the bot name has 2 spaces. took me forever to figure out why the heck Far Cry wasn't working as AI. Don't change it. If it works, it's fine.
-
Okay, i got your megaupload DSL, and it works. i then downloaded FB's components, BBEANS Arena, and then tried to download the RAW pack. I put replaced the teams.txt in the AI folder, put the RAW.bmp, teams, and special AIs in the AI folder. I also coy/pasted the RAW bindings to the end of mine. I downloaded nothing else. It won't work. I double-click it on the desktop and it freezes at the first thing that comes up when it is starting. I noticed a little RA2 1.3 thing (its a little yellow icon) in the Directory. It is not in any of the other directorys for the games, including the old DSL i had (I remember). was I supposed to do something with that?
My bindings: My Bindings (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/My Bindings.rar)
-
Do the contents of your Teams.txt match your Bindings.py? You say you "put replaced the teams.txt in the AI folder". If you added the RAW bindings on to the existing bindings, you should do the same with Teams.txt or everything will be all out of order and a crash is very likely.
Also, congrats to Scrap Daddy for the win. With no Ham-mer Sandwiches to contend with this time, Steel Meatball had a clear shot all the way to the top. Of course, Havok helped a bit too, but SM is good even without that.
And Mako 4 deserved to win the rumble. The only reason it lost is because Infernal Contraption can drift on its spinners. There's nothing you can do about it, I'm just saying Mako deserved the win.
And the grudge match was pretty good. That's a fight worthy of the finals.
-
Steel Meatball is tough to finish off... I have beaten it with the bot I entered, but I usually get knocked out of the arena by a Havok Explosion before I can.

did you make sure it worked when you installed FB's components and the BBEANS arena, BEFORE you installed the RAW stuff?
and the 1.3 thing is fine, it was in the stock 1.3 i downloaded from inf's summer magic thread.
-
Crap. I am going to reload DSL again and try and do it right.
Lets see:
Add to end of bindings
Add to end of Teams.txt

Steel Meatball had good match ups. The first gut-ripper he fought had AI issues and it won with Havok's help on the second, but i bet InfCon or Lu-Tze would have got it.
Mako 4 would had an easy victory in the rumble. First it attacked the easiest bot for him to destroy, owned it, then it destroyed obZen from the back (again an easy kill because i nearly killed it) and attacked the helpless InfCon (not much of a challenge with me unable to drive straight)
And i had an anti-immobilization device. NOT Mako ! It's easier to destroy/immobilize than InfCon on it's back.
At least i agree on one thing with you Click, the grudge match WAS good.

Crap. I am going to reload DSL again and try and do it right.
Lets see:
Add to end of bindings
Add to end of Teams.txt
Put pretty much everything else in AI folder.
NO. overwrite the teams.txt with the one included.

NO. overwrite the teams.txt with the one included.
Unless you have already made modifications to the teams.txt for any reason. I had to add the lines because I had some extra AI teams I had added.

^thats true. well, if you did it the first time, you can do it again.
-
But thats what I DID BEFORE. TWICE. ON 2 FRESH DSLs. AND IT NEVER WORKED. I will try it ONCE MORE.

OMG It works. Now I just need the RAW arena and I can see which bots Thor could've beaten.
