WINNER'S BRACKET SEMIFINAL

InfiniteInertia vs. R0B0SH4RK

What a match. Many surprises, much action, and well built robots. A match worth watching for sure. Pay attention to the ending of the last match, it's quite a twist :)

Clickbeetle vs. R1885

Definitely semifinal material! At the beginning i was like "HMMM. two VS  vs two HS... I WONDER WHO WILL WIN." But after actually fighting the bots I can tell you, you'll be entertained by this match. Great music too :)

Winner's Bracket Quarter Finals

InfiniteInertia vs. Roboman and Doomkiller

Inf really knew what he was doing when he entered that wedged HS... it really does a number on Witch. However, OMG YKK and it's super low undercutting irons make it tough for Inf to get a good hold on it. And Inf's other HS is super solid. Watch for multiple OOTAs and an AWESOME FIRE KO!

GameKing  vs. Clickbeetle

An all out HS brawl. As expected, Clickbeetle's undercutting HS performs very well against Gameking, but has trouble when the plow gets knocked off, mainly because it sometimes stops the weapons from spinning (as if actual physics step in when it parts from the bot). Both teams suffer from instability and mobility problems once unbalanced, which can lead to some longer matches than one would expect. Great fight, watch out for a CLAW KO!

RedlineM203 vs. R1885

An interesting match, seeing as there are no HS. My apologies, but for some reason FRAPS lagged to death in a few parts of this. The two VS seem to gain the upper hand with their long reaching wedges, but once one of the popups breaks free, the VS are easily flanked. Nice TRIPLE claw KO in one of the matches... :D

R0B0SH4RK vs. Pwnator and The Ounce

All big names in stock building, this fight should have been epic. Unfortunately, two SnS on different teams means they kill everything else and then just sit there. The beginning of each fight is entertaining though, so definitely worth a watch.

Round 2 Loser's Bracket

Jack Daniels vs. Duck

JD's choice to use 2 bots with no wedges doesn't really work out here against an HS and a popup. Fun, quick match to watch, but a little one sided.

Greenbot and Natef vs. Scrap Daddy

Two unarmored popups vs. two heavily weaponed spinners. Yep. BUT WAIT! We know how the arena treats SnS, and this match is no exception. Plus, Scraps RADHS has no wedge, so the popups can get under it relatively un-scathed. Could Green and Nate pull out a win?

Starcore and ACAMS vs. S.T.C.

If ACAMS's SnS wasn't so havoky, this would have been much less of a close match. It's effectiveness is severely dampened by that. But, we all know how amazing Fury is, so that pretty much makes up for it. And flying spinners do have a tendency to land right on top of the opponent... S.T.C.'s bots put up a good fight, and the matches aren't one sided at all.

H@zm47 vs. Urjak

Quite a fun, destructive match. Star rats pack some punch with their sturdy maces and rack of axes (although those don't do much because of the rats' slow sped), but Hazmat's pusher is designed to take out those pesky HS. Coupled with his dual motor HS, Haz's team is quite formidable. You can never underestimate a team of HS, however, which is exactly what Urjak has.

Trumpetguy and Viper vs. 090901

One of the more boring matches of the tourney so far. For some reason I get a lot of lag in this match (sorry about that). Anyways, 09's HS has an incredibly difficult time moving, and the opponent has a SnS that just sits there and, well, spins. 09's popup has the most mobility out of the group but having an unarmored front is quite dangerous when facing two spinners. 09's bots are a little more well built than the other two, but a razor is still a razor and that SnS has a lot of them.

Reier and Naryar vs. Roboquad

My favorite match of the round, this fight has action, speed, and just all around goodness. Quite a few nice popup smashes and some intense pile ups, with both sides sporting nicely built and very destructive bots. As always, unarmored popups (and even armored ones) tend to get pretty smashed up when fighting alongside spinners. However, since I-blitz has a hard time moving around and the other spinner is an SnS, the popups actually get to duke it out without being interrupted. A rare wedge-vs-wedge battle occurs a few times, and unfortunately for Reier it looks like Bermuda Peril has the upper hand. However, Reier's popup does come equipped with armor in contrast to Bermuda. Can it last long enough to start its attack on I-Blitz? And even if it doesn't, will Roboqaud's bots have enough left in them to take out the spinning bot of doom?

Madiaba and Pyscolone vs. Sage

Another fight that I quite enjoyed. My speedy razor devils can shred almost anything... if they can get under it. Unfortunately, both of their wedges suck. Also, FS usually have a tough time against HS, especially one sporting as many razors as Debaitor has. But because of Mad's inventive AI, Pysc's popup stays out of the fighting for the beginning, allowing both War&Peace to converge on the HS. This, however, is what DeBAITor was designed for. But are the two FS too much to handle?

Russian Roulette vs. Wham

Two popups vs two speedy HS. This match is actually very entertaining, with lots of destruction in short amounts of time. Simply put, the HS have more weapons and smaller chassis. Razors are extremely damaging, especially to almost unarmored popups like Wham's. However, we all know how just one or two lucky hits can dramatically change the course of the match...

Round 2 Winner's bracket

Roboshark vs. Trumpetguy and Viper

Robo's SnS has a lot of maces, and they are moving very fast. Viper's and trumpet's HS does not have a lot of maces. The usual outcome? Well, you can guess. But we forget the other two bots. The other team has an SnS of their own, and it has a lot of razors. Robo's popup has no armor and not a lot of razors. The usual outcome? Well, you can guess. But if you mix and match these two battles, this fight becomes pretty cool.

Madiaba and Pyscolone vs. InfiniteInertia

Wow, what a great gathering of big names in RA2. Madiaba and his inventive AI tactics, Pyscolone and his sleek popup, and Infinite with his lethal HS's. There's only so much insight I can give on this match, because I think you should watch it yourself. Will the diversion of Debaitor work, or will the all around defense and offense of the two HS be too much to handle?

Roboquad vs. Pwnator and The Ounce

A fast paced, explosive match between two pairs of well-built bots. While Roboquad wins in terms of mobility with his popup, Pwnator brings in some tuff defense with his mace SnS. And both sides have a powerful HS to duke it out. A very hard to call match that is definitely worth watching.

Doomkiller and Roboman vs. Russian Roullette

Woah, 4 HS Battle Royale. Russian's two twin HS seem to be at the disadvantage with their razors facing irons and maces, but you should never forget razors tendency to knock those weak extenders off. Plus, Russian's bots are both equipped with the slightly faster Redbird motors for drive. Will this be enough to take down the defense of the other HS?

Gameking vs. Jack DanielsA classic example of a HS vs VS fight. As much as I usually try not to give away the ending, this fight is a tough one for JD.

Clickbeetle vs. Natef and Greenbot

Two of the best MW HS's with high-damage razors against two unarmored popups built by normies. One sided? Well, maybe not... The music in this match makes it extremely fun to watch.

RedlineM203 vs. S.T.C.

Red's popups are very well built. Nice wedge, good weaponry, and fast drive. So this battle should be a piece of cake, right? Not so much. The popups have one huge disadvantage, which the castor armored fronts. More often than not, the other robot stops halfway up the wedge. This is very dangerous against a FS and a HS, because the popups are hitting weapons instead of chassis. However, the same can be said for the other team, when the popups are half under them. Interesting match.

R1885 vs. H@zm47

With their superior wedges, Red&Blue make fodder out of the rammer. However, the other team mate is far more deadly. We all know how extremely damaging razors are to extenders and chassis, an Hazmat's HS is chock full of them. Can the VS get rid of that darn HS before they start falling apart? WATCH OUT for the best moment so far in the tourney, in my opinion. Very end of round.

Round 1 Loser's Bracket
 Somebody vs. Urjak

The match that really defeats the purpose of RAW 2, with both sides having two of the same bot. In previous matches we have seen the dreaded claw lay waste to many a SnS, and now there's two of them on the same team. Urjak's bots, the rammer/HS hybrid, are pushy but small, and constantly run into each other. The wide flails on Somebody's SnS easily hit the sides of Urjak's bots once the HS half is gone. But can the SnS last long enough against the hazards of the arena? Watch for a cool hazard kill at the end of round 2.

SSG and Jonzu vs. Starcore and ACAMSSSG and Jonzu are going up against a lot of weapons. Both opponents ae nearly impervious until every spike, mace, and razor is ripped off. Unless, of course, you have a popup. Which is exactly what Jonzu built. Minesweeper doesn't even have a wedge, however. The good news is that it also has a lot of weapons. Will the defense of Minesweeper paired with the sneaky attack of Exterminatus be enough to take down two of the most famed builders in the game?

Scrap Daddy vs. Kill343gs

Two unarmored popups against two heavily weaponed spinners. The outcome? Not as one sided as you think. In fact, Kill's loaded rupting actually seems to work in this match. That, coupled with Rolo's sneaky razor popup attack, can really make a dent in what would look to be a very powerful team of spinning weapons. And we all know how the arena likes to handle SnS...

Duck vs. Man Manu

This was a very close match that could have gone either way. Manu's rammer is quite odd in the fact the it has a DDT flipper on it as well, which probably ends up being of more use than its row of axes. Duck's Weedge has a very good wedge but the weapons are a tad lacking, as well as a huge chassis for his partner, the HS, to hit accidentally. Manu's other bot, a popup, is nice and small, however, making it a harder target for the deadly undercut of Duck's HS.

090901 vs. Hypnodisc7

A quick and fun match. Clearly, 090901's bots are better built and have better weapons, but as with all tourneys there are always upsets. Could Hypno's HS be perfectly angled to easily take out the extenders on 09's slow moving spinner? And will Hypno's drum lay waste to BoneShaker's unprotected front? Watch to find out. Or read, if you'd like :D

Craaig and Joeblo vs. Reier and Naryar

Now that Naryar has his dummy AI for his SnS, it becomes much more of a threat and makes the matches so that they don't drag on. This SnS is a beast, and once it gets spinning there's no way for the other team's bot to stop it. However, the arena claw has no troubles when dealing with the barely moving SnS, as we have seen before. With Craaig and Joe's inventive team coupled with the arena hazards, this match could very well go either way. And remember, an SnS hurts its partner a lot too.

40757 vs. Sage

Unfortunately for me, 40757 outwedges both my bots with his popup, and his FS is on par wedginess. An FS can't do anything when a bot is under it, or so one would think. Because both of them are equipped with fast HPZ motors, occasionally they can slip away from the top of the opponent and flank them. I wish this happened all the time :). I really enjoyed this match, lots of action, lots of cool things going on. Definitely worth watching.

TiLT vs. Wham

Wow, a popup vs popup battle. In this case, whoever has the best wedge wins, and in the beginning of the matches it looks like Wham has the upper hand in that respect. But in this kind of battle, an upside down popup is just as good as one that's right side up. There's a really cool acrobatic flip by Horizon in fight 2 you should watch out for.

ROUND 1

 Man Manu vs. R0b0sh4rk

I really enjoyed this match, a lot. It takes both of Manu\'s bots to take out Bullet Witch, and if they actually can finish the job, Synergy can usually take what\'s left out pretty quickly. But what happens when an UN-invertible SNS becomes inverted...?

Trumpetguy and Viper89 vs. DuckRA2

While The Assassin is Back isn\'t much of a killer, Tornado 2 really can wreak some havoc. Then spinning razors of doom work well against both HS and popup, the the relatively slow spinning makes sure it doesn\'t send itself off the edge. However, both of Duck\'s bots are better built, and popups are a great choice in this arena.

Roboquad vs Scrap Daddy

Both good builders, making a good match. I-Blitz has trouble moving with it\'s slow drive motors, Bermuda Peril\'s low amount of weapons hinders its effectiveness. Both of Scrap\'s bots are very nice, but Arrow Head, being a SnS, suffers from the CLAW. Because SnS don\'t avoid hazards on purpose, they don\'t care if they are close to the CLAW or not. Parasite is a very good bot but is barely effective when on top of a popup. Unless it\'s upside down...

Pwnator & The Ounce vs. Kill343GS

 Loaded rupting fails.

SSG & Jonzu95 vs Madiaba & Pyscolone

*Note about Mad's bot: While working on the arena he had no time to build a bot. He had a friend build the original Debaitor for him, and he just reworked the weapons more to his liking.*

Because Madiaba has the know-how, he and Trov made a special AI for his team. See if you can figure it out. I think it works pretty well...

The great defense the Debaitor has makes it a formidable opponent, and Tweek is a popup built by the current popup master. A very nicely put together team. Minesweeper, however, is great at taking off HS weapons. If TWEEK is taken out, can Debaitor take on two bots at once? One of my favorite matches of round 1.

Starcore and ACAMS vs Infinite Inertia

Probably the the match I most looked forward to when I made the bracket, this fight doesn\'t disappoint. A great mix of HS, SnS, and wedgy HS, all built by some of the best stock builders in the community. One fight you don\'t want to miss.

Somebody vs Doomkiller and Roboman2444

I\'m surprised Somebody has the only dual SnS team in the tourney. It seems like it would be a very deadly combination. But, we all know that this arena is particularly bad for SnS... the CLAWS can really mess things up.

Urjak vs Russian Roulette

A battle between dual HS. Very destructive, very fun to watch. Which is better, a fast HS or one with a row of axes?

Gameking3 vs. 090901

Not a bad match, not too long either. BoneShaker, with its unarmored front, has a tough time against the dual HS team, and BoneBreaker has some severe movement issues caused by the really skinny wheel base. However, BoneBreaker\'s all around defense/offense from the stacked spinning maces give Amonia & Bleach a run for their money.

Hypnodisc7 vs Jack Daniels

Quite an odd match. One would expect Jack\'s dual VS to quickly dispatch of Hypno\'s team of interestingly constructed bots, but the VS get in each other\'s way more often then not.

Clickbeetle vs Craaig and Joeblo

Very fun match to watch, especially the awesome havok launch in round 2. Unfortunately for JoeBlo, the barrel-rolling popup he has doesn\'t quite work out as well as he\'d hoped. It does, however, provide for some interesting moments, like the popup flying and smashing the top of one of Click\'s HS.

Reier and Naryar vs. Greenbot and Natef

Because of the size of Nary\'s FBS\'s chassis, both of the dual popups do after Reier\'s G-4ce first thing, usually eliminating him early. This leaves the two popups up against the spinning mass of doom and maces. You might think the popups stand no chance... but because Nary\'s weapons are on flails, the popups aren\'t exactly knocked away. Could the "ghey" flails actually be Nary\'s downfall? The arena claws also play a devious part in this round too.

 RedlineM203 vs. 40757

This was one round where the low grates played part in the match, mostly because of the Dual Popups small wheels and low wedge. However, these pile ups in the flaming grates are quite fun to watch :D. Watch out for the amazing turn of events at the end of round two... it sure surprised me!
S.T.C. vs. Sage

My pair of FS bots are pushy, powerful, and damaging. But not if they can\'t get under the opponent. For some reason, GReeenN, the bot without a wedge, gets under the bots with a wedge. Also, S.T.C.\'s HS, because it has the irons attached directly to the tribar, really causes trouble for War & Peace. And the thing about the holes in the walls, if one bot falls, the other usually follows.

 TiLT vs. R1885

The new guy TiLT has some pretty decent popups, and in a straight on fight, they could do some damage. However, the VS team\'s superior turning gives them the edge in the battle. A few really cool moments, especially the 2nd round OOTA. Very nice.

Wham vs. H@zm47 Another dual popup team, again against a team with an HS. Not much to say besides there\'s an interesting havok in round 2.

Other than that, great matches so far. I love the corner hazards, and Redline vs 40757 was an amazing match.

Fantastic... My bot isn't fitted to fight in this arena and we didn't even know what the arena was until the end => absolutely impossible to fit our bots for this tournament.

Anyways, IS5 performed decently but didn't used Melty Brain driving like i planned, and i still want to use my new FBSInvertDir.py !

Oh and these matches were very nice... to watch, but hazards are still cheap and as a result the bots can't show their real fighting potential.

The arena is great and all, but those starting positions.. not good for promoting all bot types, even less then other tourneys.

A fair result for my match though.

Oh and...this round proves the awfulness of blue snappers as wedges.

You obviously haven't payed any attention to my showcase. I also got under the pop ups 2/3 times and both of my bots use blue snaps. And the real reason its wedges suck is because the wheels are a different height than usual. Get your facts next time troll.

Actually, the reason you got unders Reds wedges was because your wedges were longer, not because they were any wedgier.

Well a tournament that is fun to watch is what I was going for. You can test true potential in the boring combat arena with no hazards on your own time :P

@ SSG

I thought you guys would enjoy seeing some matches instead of waiting for me to edit all the videos really pretty with a nice little intro and a few preview pictures... but if you really think it's needed then I will put them in. I just have the splash open when watching. I can easily tell who is on whose team.

As for the starting positions, it's the only way I could think of to get this arena to work the way it did. Especially having the fire grates where they are...

Sage, thanks for the great AI on my bots (probably was easy... but thanks anyways)

B&B performed as designed... Though it looked like they got in each others way. I put them together to work with each other.  They Slowly attack without causing much damage to each other.  I didn't think I would say this, but given the circumstance of the arena, I am glad I used RAD motors instead of something faster like HPzs.  Keeps them out of trouble I think.

I think most of us are wishing we made pushers now for this tourney.

Perhaps you could of made the fire grates closer to each other, perhaps even interjoining. Perhaps a little smaller too, so there's more space for the corners to be used as starting points.
Maybe raising the grates again would help, as well.

Ofcourse it's a bit late now, but eh.

It looks like two of the ones in opposite corners zap one of the enemy bots with electricity, which disables them for a brief time (so they're actually GOOD for you to activate).  Another one makes a barrel fall down in the middle of the arena, and like you said the fourth one was never triggered.  But since there are two electricity hazards, the fourth might be another barrel.

I'm still not sure what JoeBlo's RY3NO is supposed to do.  Are the flippers on the bottom designed to add force to its flips?  Or is it supposed to jump over other bots and hit their tops?

Title: RAW 2 Brackets and Videos
Post by: JoeBlo on November 20, 2009, 10:55:34 PM
RY3NO is designed to dodge other robots attacking it from the side or rear using smart zones to tell it what combination to fire the flippers below, it can perform barrel rolls and forward flips successfully from a still (so not moving)

Ahh... clever idea.  The only problem is, you have to land again after you launch yourself.  Unless you launch yourself really really far, the other bot is going to be there waiting for you to come down.  If it wasn't for that little issue it would be a good strategy.
Title: RAW 2 Brackets and Videos
Post by: JoeBlo on November 20, 2009, 11:09:40 PM
it works fairly well but with one large problem.....

like a lot of wonderful ideas I have this one doesn't fair to well in non 1 on 1 situations..

it seemed that it would dodge one of your robots and in the meantime jump right into the other one

another problem is if its "flight path" is disrupted it usually lands butter side down meaning its open to more attacks

still fun to play with though :-D

On the topic of the 4 question marks-

1. Lightning strike, hurts & temporarily immobolizes nearest bot (could be your teammate!). Watch out!

2. Fireball, hurts nearest bot and lights it on fire (again, could be your own teammate!).

3. Object drop, drops a damaging object in the middle of the arena. Could be a barrel, a fridge, a grape crate, or 4 cinder blocks (randomly chosen).

4. Phantom wall, allows bots to pass through the wall as if it wasn't there. (Turns green)

Hope that clears things up!

Regarding the question you asked when you posted the 2nd half, I would prefer if you recorded the LB round 1 first.  I wish though that I could make my predictions for that round right now.  :frown:

Oh well, I'll just go for my WB round 2 predictions (even though they could be completely wrong):

GK3: I can see those weapon motors on the VSs coming off very quickly.  If the VSs were faster, though, they would be able to gut rip them.

CB: I'm not too sure about this one because we've seen pairs with HPZs prove troublesome for HS.  I guess it depends on how quickly Error can take them out or how quickly the 2 popups can throw them out.

Redline: The Doomsday Devices have the armor advantage with the casters that Peace and War didn't have, and would probably do better at gut ripping the other 2 than in the 1st round.

Ribbs: My thoughts on this one are the same as match 2.  Depends on how quickly the VSs can rip apart their opponents or how quickly Mirrors can do the same.

R0B0: Synergy's the better SnS here, but Bullet Witch suffers from lack of front armor.

Pwn and I: If the popup can destabilize/gut rip our bots quickly, then this will be a short match, but bots with exposed fronts are not very good for fighting HSs.

Inf: Ohs doesn't seem like it does well against popups, but neither of the 2 look like they can beat Exs unless TWEEK can throw it OOTA.

DK and RM: Simply because their bots have the advantage in weaponry, but I can still see the lack of front armor being OMG YKK's downfall if the razors on Mercury have enough reach.

I got the IA for psy and Mad!

Mad's bot is the bit, and actively tries to get opponents attention.

Psy's bot drives to the edge of the arena, to avoid conflict.

After a delay, Psy's bot rushes one of the destracted bots from behind and quickly retreats.

You could kindly ask Sage if you could switch AI, and Mad if you could "borrow" some py's...

J/K Rowling? I don't think that would be fair to Mad/Trov.

I thought about making some very similar custom AI with a SnS and a pushy bot, where each bot would keep track of the other's location and try to avoid it, and even possibly have the pushy bot maneuver and try to push opponents into the SnS.  Even started fiddling around with some code to identify friendly vs. enemy bot ID's.  But I got lazy and never finished it.  It's a daunting task, what Mad and Trov are doing.

You could kindly ask Sage if you could switch AI, and Mad if you could "borrow" some py's...

Well as 'rough' as it is, I'm not so sure you'd want to use it...yet.

'We all' (ACAMS' accent) barely had time to 'squeeze' it in because of the arena work. Great thanks to Sage for several things, including arena.gmf work. The arena was so involved that I had a very nice friend help build my bot for me (Thanks friend!). Pys was nice enough to let his gut slasher become a guinea pig. The 'daunting' part has really just begun, CB. More input here would be appreciated...

Acams, you should be thankful that the arena makes it a little easier for 'luck' to be involved, instead of complaining about the flawless execution of this tournament.

I still love it!
When I quit complaining.....watch out.....I am either pissssed off and fixin to pounce on some ass (or dead)

As for the "claws are ghey" I just wanted to beat Naryar to it. (of course my bot did get clawed 2 out of 3 matches.....once like it didn't even know the hazard was there)

I think I finally have time today to record the next few rounds.

However, NARRYARR needs to send his bot with the correct controls. If he doesn't I will not use DUMMY movement AI for his SnS. Which he will complain about, but it's his fault because I don't want to figure out the controls for him. Because I already have it AIed.

He gets 2 hours before I record his match, starting now.

He might have. I was AIing pretty quickly and if they didn't have a button for srimech I usually didn't go to the garage and test one out for them (one of the reasons i urge you to AI your own bot). I did for a few bots where it was blatantly obvious it was supposed to srimech, but for the most part I renamed controls and slapped Omni.py on there.

Sorry.

Haha guys I had another fail. When recording the next round of matches, I muted my computer's speakers, cause I was tired of the in-game music. After recording about half of them, I played one and realized FRAPS had picked up my windows media player as well, which was playing Green Day's new album. So unfortunately, you have to either mute the video or listen to Green Day while watching it... O.o

Next round should be up soon.

Predictions for next half:

Trumpetguy/Viper vs. R0B0: R0B0, no question about it.

Roboquad vs. Pwnator/Ounce: Could go either way.  Magnetar needs to go OOTA if Roboquad is going to win though.

Mad/Pysc vs. II: Madiaba's bait-and-attack-from-the-rear tactic, while brilliant, won't work against HS... infiniteinertia will probably win this one.

Doomkiller/roboman vs. russian roulette: Doomkiller and roboman outweapon RR and should win this, but Urjak should have beat RR by that same logic, so who knows.

I got FRAPS to run again with some settings adjustments.

It it OK if I use the Dummy.py for all the FBS and SnS? Because some of the matches I'm doing keep going the full 3 minutes because each side has an SnS that just sits there.

Why is Debaitor called Madiabot 4 in the video?  Did Mad just rename it?

Good matches.

(Spoiler:)
Bermuda Peril was surprisingly effective against Pwn's SnS.  I wonder how it did that with such a narrow chassis.

LOL at Tweek watching Debaitor get OOTA'd, then saying "screw this" and driving off the platform.  Looks like Mad's special AI isn't quite bulletproof... I think he and Pysc actually had a chance if the AI would work properly.  Though I was right that it's not very effective against HS's. (Spoiler_End)

Why is Debaitor called Madiabot 4 in the video?  Did Mad just rename it?
Well, though it's still beta in form, actually it's working pretty well (doing basically what it's supposed to). A lot of work...
Here are some problems:
-Coding issue: That is, 'tayloring it' to face different kinds of bots in the Bindings.  Still have to pipe several parameters out to the Bindings line for fine tweeking too.
-It not only has an initial 'step back for a moment' option, but it also has a rough 'Evade' option, when the life is at a certain level.  The latter is a crude 'face the enemy and back up' routine. Unfortunately I haven't incorporated a way to get the scores of the bots to know if one should Evade or Engage... So right now it's set:  if plus.getHealth(self.GetID(), 0) < .1:.  I think Trov was working on bot 'score checking'.
- The bot name is different because I had to 'debug' the coding of a 'glitch' Sage ran into....so I used the bot's original name when testing.

I'm interested in seeing the next round...

Nice bots, Inf and Pys....

Trumpetguy and Viper vs. 090901

One of the more boring matches of the tourney so far.

Probably for you it was, since you had to film the whole thing, but I thought it was cool when

And I thought for sure Reier/Naryar vs. Roboquad was going to go the other way after the first round.

I didn't even know that their was going to be a Round 2 loser's bracket that's why I stopped following this thread. Umm... round 1 and round 3 of H@ZM47 vs. Urjak are the same thing.  Had to check the spoiler tag on the first page to see who really won.

Other that that, good matches.

Predictions for next round:

Gameking vs. Me: I'm confident that Trial can undercut Gameking's high spinners and get some quick KO's.  Error isn't going to do much except act as a decoy.

Redline vs. R1885: Long double wedges beat single short wedge.  Redline will have to get lucky here.

R0B0 vs. Pwnator/Ounce: The two SnS's cancel each other out so it's basically Bullet Witch vs. Blue Giant.  Blue Giant doesn't look built to handle popups, but on the other hand Bullet Witch might fire its weapons too early and break all its razors (it seems a lot of the popups have been doing that...).  Could go either way.

Inf vs. Doomkiller/roboman: Witch and Exs cancel each other out here so it comes down to Ohs and OMG YKK.  I can see either Ohs climbing up on YKK and cutting off the weapon motors, or YKK undercutting Ohs and cutting off ITS weapon motors.  Again could go either way but I would lean toward Inf.

Yo, guys, sorry on the wait. I've been working on some eye candy and intros and stuff of that nature. Just cause it makes it more fun. Anyways, I should be done with that this week and have some vids up this weekend. In the meantime, lets see some Quarterfinal Predictions!

GameKing vs. Clickbeetle

R0B0SH4RK vs. Pwnator & The Ounce

InfiniteInertia vs. Doomkiller & Roboman

Redline vs. R1885

Title: Re: RAW 2 Brackets and Videos
Post by: GameKing3 on March 30, 2010, 09:12:58 PM
My predictions
Click VS Me- I agree with click his bots are far superior to mine and Trial is going to undercut my spinners and will probably take out both of my bots.

Redline VS R1885-Wedges anyone? I'm going for R1885.

ROBO VS Pwn & Ounce- I believe this one will go to Pwn and Ounce. Although it will be a close match I think that Blue Giant will have problems with Bullet Witch but will win in the end which will decide the match.

Inf VS Doomkiller & roboman-Another close match but I am inclined to lead towards Inf because I believe Ohs will be able to neutralize YKK's weapons.

Nah, but it received a horrible wound that almost killed it. Called finals, MCA, and AP testing. Each a week apart. O: Plus BBEANS testing and working on my incredibly difficult drum recital piece, I haven't been able to put aside the couple hours needed to record a full round, edit, export, upload, and write the summaries for.

What quarterfinals?

Huh, I guess with this last win I'm in the quarterfinals.  Cool.  I think this is the best I've done in a tournament since BBEANS3.

But looks like I'm up against
next round... so my winning streak might be at an end. :(   Trial and Error don't like that type of bot.  Error might have a chance though, with its caster armor.

So where was the fire KO?  I didn't see one.  Unless you just mean when YKK was on fire...

Good match anyways.  Looks like Inf also knew what he was doing with Ohs' radius setting.
Title: Re: RAW 2 Brackets and Videos
Post by: Sage on May 30, 2010, 01:04:43 AM
yea it's kinda hard to see. OMG YKK got a hold of the fireball power from the top right corner, and then if you look closely it KOs Ohs.

What was with Turn abouts fair play. It abandoned Fury every match.

Got out of the way so Fury could do what Fury does best  ;) and thats not even the latest greatest Fury.

O: What in the world could you do more to that thing?? *Sage is excited*

I tweaked quite a bit since when this tournament started. In Wild Robots Live 2 https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=3899.0 (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=3899.0) Pod F you can see the newest edition of Fury.

I made the AI more aggressive and increased the mace count 25% while keeping the front plow and DSA armor. I could be wrong but I think most will have a hard time replicating or out doing this MW HS design. <<Need HS Smileys>>

How exactly did you made the AI more aggressive ?

And how do manage to gain 30kgs from such an airtight bot?
Title: Re: RAW 2 Brackets and Videos
Post by: Pwnator on June 19, 2010, 09:37:26 PM
The new Fury used less extenders and an extremely airtight chassis (the old Fury's chassis wasn't airtight enough :P):

I cloned it 5 months ago and it took me a lot of attempts to get the chassis right.

I also removed the 2nd plow and the bottom caster armor from the one that was used for this tourny. I think you would agree Pwnator, not an easy task to replicate or out do the design.

As to the more agressive AI: Was carefully tuning the AI line for maximum turn rate without overturn, minimum hazard avoidance taking into account chassis size, testing turning in vs turning out vs both spin clockwise or counter clockwise since it is an asymetrical design, considering and testing the 3 maces per extender on one spinner vs the other, reviewing various behavioral responses of Omni vs Omni Ram vs some of the other choices available vs writing new AI for the right blend of charge, pull back, clinch, and deciding if it was worth it to track the weapons numbers for switching to Pusher AI (rarely worth worrying about).

yeah. its actually odd how your mr extreme efficiency and you dont play stock much (and that generally requires more efficiency then DSL)

(and that generally requires more efficiency then DSL)

That is merely an impression because people care more about efficiency in stock.

But mr. extreme efficiency ? Real extreme efficiency is heck, honestly.

First you need to know absolutely everything about the game and have mastered writing py's, then you need to fine-tune the whole bot (plus make it near perfectly symmetrical with BFE), try it against numerous bots, then rebuild it and repeat the procedure until it can beat a maximum of other bots, and all that while tweaking finely a custom py and the bindings made for the bot.

No he doesn't... but he's probably the closest example to a pure efficiency builder we have on these forums.

Who me or Naryar or were you referring to someome else?

I admit to doing most all of that list except BFE (I refuse to do that) and I don't know everything about the game. Locked engine makes it a game of reverse engineering and there are many nooks and crannies that have been discovered over the years.

Some DSL builder who fought a replica against NAR AI bots and when spammed weapons, making the replica look craptastic and scoring a cheap win.

Cheap wins are reserved to any weight class unbalance, fighting a flipper in the combat arena and crawlers.

Also making a replica look totally unlike what it should be to compete.

The sound in Reier/Naryar vs. Pwnator/Ounce is out of phase.

But good matches otherwise... Reier/Naryar vs. Pwnator/Ounce could have turned out a lot boringer, with two SnS's fighting each other.  And I was surprised at how Doomsday Device did.

Winner's bracket semifinals are now up! Almost done!!

Two VERY exciting matches, and the two winners will make for an awesome finale to the Winner's bracket. But who will emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge the undefeated?

Loser's Bracket Final is up!!! I didn't put the names on in case you missed a few videos (I've been rushing to get them done by my deadline) but you can click on where the names would be and the video will pop up. Another epic match.

Championship will be up in about 45 minutes. Stay tuned and watch the other videos!

It WAS up at 7:40:22, but laggy internet made it 7:40:24 (CST)

Anyone know the significance of that time?

Oh well, enjoy the epic finale.

I was 2 SECONDS off from posting the end of this tourney EXACTLY 1 year from when I started it. 8/12/2009 7:40:22. check the post on the sign-ups thread :) and then check the post where i say the championship is up.

Longest tourney evar!

Congratulations the Champion! (I won't spoil it for another week or so, in case people want to watch the videos.

And a big, big thanks to Madiaba and Trovaner for all the help in the arena and AIing. Couldn't have done it without ya.)

Prizes will be sent out soon enough.

Joe, it was one tournay. In eight months. It was slooooooooowwwwwww :P

Also,

Congrats to the winner - there was some really tough competition and they deserved the win.

And thanks to Sage for putting in his time and effort to host (even though it did take a year and two seconds). NOW IF ONLY YOUR BUDDY HAD AN ATTENTION SPAN LONG ENOUGH TO FINISH BRAWL OF THE BUILDERS. I HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS WITH YOU >:O
