Put it this way.. you lost a match at some point in the tournament but were allowed the continue on to the finals
The other team hadn't lost a match so to make it fair they are allowed to loose one just like you..

Double elimination means you can only be eliminated out of the looser bracket.. When your in the main bracket you get shifted their after your loss.
So your first match you basically put the other team into the loosers Bracket, then the remach you had to eliminate them from said bracket.
Because you were already in the loosers bracket you would be eliminated after your first loss..
