Title: RA2 Extreme Warriors
Post by: Zog on August 09, 2010, 11:23:23 AM

After the failure that was UK vs USA, I have finally decided to make it up to you guys and host a new replica tourney.

One of the main reasons why I bailed out of UK vs USA is because some of the skinned parts crashed the game. I fixed this but they crashed again. It wasn't just Sonny's bot, either.

So, anyway, here is a brief description of how this tourney works.

There are 7 heats, with 5 fights in each. These fights are:

1. Vengeance battle
2. Challenge belt
3. Mayhem
4. Annihilator
5. Tag Team Terror

Basically all gametypes. Most of them speak for themselves. It works basically the same way as Robot Wars Extreme/ Extreme Warriors.

Yes, it is a replica tourney, but I'm confident that I can host this. Just don't send robots with too many skinned components, please?

I need a total of 18 entries. I can AI them, but if you can AI them yourself, then it would save a lot of time.

The rules:

DSL HW
No Custom Components.
AI parts are not allowed, except for their burst/weapon motors.
The robot HAS to work LIKE THE REAL THING.
BFE etc is allowed, but you have to PM me to tell me that you are doing it.
The replicas must have been in an episode of RW: Extreme/Extreme Warriors.
Tracked robots are not allowed.
If you are to enter a walking robot, then it can be twice the weight of the other robots.

Anything else?

sounds great but you better write a smal discription to all "gametypes"
seems like the annihilator was a good idea :P

I`m not sure if I like the "only robots from the extreme series" rule. But I think I would enter if this goes to the sighn ups.
Title: Re: RA2 Extreme Warriors

Done. I just think it makes more sense with it being only robots in RW: Extreme.

can not see the changes :o

To be honest I would have preferred you not start a new tourney. Not anything against you or your ability to host one, it's just there are too many going on at the moment and tournaments should be a special deal, not just like "So which tournament can I join today?"

Sage, it hasn't even gone through the signups yet... And it won't, at least for another couple of months... For now, we can just talk about it, and post up pics of the bots you are going to enter.

Hmmmm.......
Tag Team Terror has to be the correct teams right?
If so, I've go Tut Tut so I need to make Drillzilla (With 1598kg to use!)
Also, might do Cyclone for the Annihilator
Do the bots have to come from those events they competed in?
EDIT: Could enter The Spider in mayhem

I <3 Replicas!

Well, I want to put some variety in it, so the tag team terror doesn't have to be the same teams.

Muahahahahaha, Tut Tut + Barbaric Response FTW!
Title: Re: RA2 Extreme Warriors
Post by: Zog on August 10, 2010, 03:39:31 AM
The idea for the Tag Team is (if you want to take part) that you enter with another person.

There are four battles, then two semis, then a final. I might also do a third place playoff.

Meh, seems a lot like my plans for RIMP just using replicas rather than RIP bots. XD

Could be alright but I probably wouldn't enter, seem as though I have a very similar thing to run myself, lol.

That predator replica is epic.

Thanks.  It took me hours to build, nice to see it still getting recognition.

You know I'm all over this. If we're building HW reps, I'm entering!

I'm planning a Sir Forcealot replica for the moment, but I might look to some other options as well.

Count me in :)
Dunno what I am entering yet, but im sure that i'll sort something out :P
-Wham
EDIT: Can we make reskinned components as in new components? (eg. reskinned ramplate) as i think that might be a bit easier for me and some others, as well as meaning that 2 robots dont have the same skinned maps from the ramplate.
Is this allowed? :P
Of course the text files wouldnt have the damage properties ect. messed with only the name, preview and description and maybe styles if needed.

Hope you don't mind me putting it in. I just thought that it shows how good the reps can be made.

@Wham - reskinned components are allowed, just try not to use to many.

Ok, also just to check:
I know the rules said no AI motors or bursts, but if one of the rules states bots must be realistic, surely the Judge Burst motor must be allowed for flippers?
Also, by AI components allowed, would i be allowed to use say, Chaos 2's flipper ;)

I'll give it a go.  Sump Thing

Of course I don't mind people using pics of my replicas for that.  I'm flattered that my bot gets to be your headliner.  I'll probably enter this (surprising, I know)

I'm trying to decide between sending Sump Thing, or building a new robot from scratch.

Is it ok if I can't bulk-up Sumpthing to a heavyweight?  I've got almost no extra room in there.

Sonny, you think it'd be possible for me to do a Sir Force A Lot replica?
Title: Re: RA2 Extreme Warriors
Post by: Resetti's Replicas on August 13, 2010, 10:27:45 PM
Oh yes, definitely.  For the weapon motor, use a perm-80 (that's the smaller of the two perms), but mount it slightly off-centre.  Then alternate attaching hex-slaves and extenders to the motor.  If you're looking front-on at the robot, then branching from the motor to the left should go extender-hex-extender-hex.   Branching to the right should go hex-extender-hex-extender-hex.

Put three teeth on each hexplate; I'm not sure what the best kind of tooth to use here is, I'll leave that up to you to decide.  You'll probablyt have to make it taller than the original to prevent the teeth from scraping the ground, but I think it'll be a decent tradeoff.

The rules say that AI motors and bursts ARE allowed.

And most AI components are allowed. You will have to PM me to tell me what parts you want to use, and I'll tell you which are OK and which aren't.

Thanks Sonny. My only concern is the durability of the hex plates-from what I saw in Killerhurtz' battle against Mauler in your Pokemon tourney, its axe broke off after one hit. But still, it should be decent enough anyway if I can mount the teeth correctly.
Maybe I'll try black-skinned ones at some point.

I hope this does happen now cause i already have 3 possible entrys XD

MWAHAHA!!!!
Here is my list of who i may enter:
Chaos 2
King B Powerworks
Cerberus
Sir Chromalot (also from Essex :P)
Title: Re: RA2 Extreme Warriors

Chaos 2? Isn't it already in DSL?
Title: Re: RA2 Extreme Warriors
Post by: JoeBlo on August 14, 2010, 10:38:39 PM
personally when people make replicas already in DSL using replica parts from DSL they have no appeal to me what so ever... its kinda taking the skill out of it as the parts are already made for you.
Title: Re: RA2 Extreme Warriors
Post by: Zog on August 15, 2010, 02:25:46 AM
Precisely. And that is why only some parts are allowed, but not all.
Title: Re: RA2 Extreme Warriors
Post by: WhamettNuht on August 15, 2010, 03:20:41 AM
The only custom comp used is the chaos 2 flipper, but tbh it does look slightly wrong :/
May have a go with ramplates, extenders and something else :D
Anyway, me and resseti where talking last night and we was wondering if we can enter all the events or if we have to enter 1?
EDIT: As promissed, here is my Chaos 2 replica using 2 reskinned ramplates, extenders and skirt pannels, also along with my Cerberus replica who is also using 2 reskinned ramplates.
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/32790Replicas 1.png)
They are sort of custom components.
The only thing that has changed is the map, and name, gmf, preview and directory settings in the .txt file and adding the "hidden = 2" line so that it keeps everything tidy :P
Would i be able to enter these?
Im quite keen on entering Chaos 2, but dont mind entering Cerb, seeing at how both have never been entered into a replica tourney before (i think! :S) and are by far 2 of my favs i've made so far :3

Use Cerberus if you want authenticity.

Use Chaos if you want a good flipper. Only problem is, it just looks... Odd.

Title: Re: RA2 Extreme Warriors

the second isnt actually a robot, just built off one of Mads SZ's.

while it looks silly with other robots, for the Typhoon design (cant see the drive and the robot always spinning I think it could look quite convincing.

They usually take up 2 places, unless it's BFE, or as Joe said, built off a smartzone

basically (iirc) it cant use wheels for drive, it has to use other stuff
