The Community Choices (TCC)
« on: July 05, 2011, 12:00:00 PM »
This is my new tournament idea. It is similar to Pot Luck, but not quite like it. A bit more...muddly.
The Basic Rules:
DSL MW
Bots must be realistic
No BFM/AAM
No cheatbot2
No custom components
All glitches allowed if they are realistic.
I can AI, but PLEASE do it yourself, as I'm a newb at this sort of stuff.
One free Havok Restart, the next time it happens in the match IT WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
3 Minute Long Matches, if time expires, I will judge on Style, Control, Agression and Damage.
No caster armour.
16/24/32 robots depending on the amount of people interested. Single Elimantion. May host some special events as well.

Now then, to add things to the mix, it'll first start off as a Test your Luck thing. First of all, two people will be chosen. I will PM them and they must NOT annouce: "I'm battling next" or whatever in the thread. You will not know your opponent, just the robot you have to build. Then another person will be chosen to choose the Arena. Once again, it will be private and must not be announced. You must choose a logic arena (no tabletop, seizure arena or King of the Hill) Before all of this, someone else will be PM'ed and they must choose two different weapons. HE MAY CHOOSE THE SAME WEAPON TWICE. Only people who sign up may be PM'ed. Please choose a logical weapon (for example, don't choose a strange design)

Oh yes, I may need help:
  • Choosing a Recorder
  • Making a splash.

Thank you.

Sounds very complicated

Probably best to prove yourself on these forums before hosting a tournament

Too complicated to work properly and too much possibility for it to implode on itself, quite frankly

Yeah, this'll end up in a mess.

By the way, you have to have 16 entries until you host 3 successful tournaments.

Oh, and if this does pass through, I'll help with the splash. It won't be extremely fancy or anything, though.

Try reading some threads like this one first

Be more simplistic, good tournaments should be basic with a simple little twist or personal flavor to them. People tend to want to enjoy a tournament not solve complex equations to figure out what is going on.

But it is very complicated :P
And don't use the 'i will judge if time runs out' rule as it will be a reason for people to bawww about if they lose, just do it on damage.

The reason I put this rule is if a flipper dominated the match, but LBP, it would kinda ruin it. I could have a jury.

I love MW's. They are beastly little things. My favourite weight class. LW wouldn't be as exciting.
