Overview:I've actually felt like hosting a tournament for a while, but I wanted to be more dynamic than simply "lol, single elimination, 16 bots, fight for winrar". I wanted to try and make something entirely new that hasn't really been done before. Most of my ideas lacked originality for a RA2 tourney, but eventually, I thought of a concept that had never been done before, and this is what I'm going to present to you today.
The Rules:1: 16 entrants. However, each entrant MUST build 3 robots to compete in the tournament.
2: DSL Middleweight. DSL Standard realistic.
3: Please AI your own robots. I only know basic AI techniques, so only ask me if you don't have any idea at all how to AI your robots (to which I would refer you to the AIing guide for future reference)
4: Cheatbot2 and Custom Components are not allowed.
5: Other than skinning, there is to be no modifications outside of the bot lab, including but not limited to BFE, AAM, Thyrus Glitch, ZeroG and Text Editing.
6: ALL GLITCHES ARE PROHIBITED. NO EXCEPTIONS.
7: Your robot must have controlled movement, or it will not be allowed.
8: Clusterbots are prohibited.
9: These matches will take place in the DSL Tournament Arena, as per usual. Hazards will be off.
10: Should you havok once during a match, the match will be restarted. Should you havok again, you will forfeit the match.
11: Matches will be 3 minutes long.
12: Once you have sent your robot, that is it. No more upgrades, so make sure it is in full working order before sending it to me.
13: The interesting part; the tournament format. Whilst the bracket will follow a normal 1 vs 1 single elimination structure, battles will take place as follows:
Before your match, you must list your 3 robots in order of robot you wish to start with, to final robot you wish to use. Failure to meet deadline will result in your list being randomized by myself. You must PM this information and not make it public.
The robots that you both chose first will be the first to fight. Once a robot of yours loses, your next one will assume its place, and vice versa. Once all 3 of a team's robots are eliminated, the match is won/lost.
However, after winning a match, YOU MUST REPLACE A ROBOT OF YOURS WITH A ROBOT OF THE LOSING TEAM. You get a completely independent choice here. Failure to meet deadline will result in me picking by random for you.
