I think I have a 50-50 chance in my first match; Razortips break fairly easily.

Match Predictions:

Heat 1: A bit hard to determine because Kamikaze and Maniac are equal in terms of weaponry, but while Get Hammered Again has an advantage over both of them due to being a hammer, it's just way too fragile.  Kamikaze's speed and sturdy weapon should also be taken into consideration.

Winners: Child Prodigy and Kamikaze.

Heat 2: All of them look capable of beating at least one of their opponents.  It looks like it will be a close match, however I can't see Micro Mako's wedge being reliable nor TP-3 having enough power to fend off its opponents.

Winners: Breakfast and Micro Launch Platform +Mk3.

Heat 3: None of them are very well-built IMO, but Baby Thing and Ecam's Messenger have so little weaponry that I think the other two will go through despite lacking weapons themselves.

Winners: Drill Knife and Mr. Flibble.

Heat 4: I can't see Mr. Munchie BW winning at all, and I have doubts that NTR-003 is stable, but MacMillan looks a bit fragile itself, so who knows.

Winners: MacMillan and Puncture II.

Heat 5: I end up in a heat with two wedges and a HS that may or may not easily tear my wheels off: just my luck.  While I'm not sure about the deadliness of the Popup or the HS, I know I'm dead if Body Guard gets past my hammer.

Winners: Body Guard and Minor Impulse.

Heat 6: I really can't see Stupid Advertisements winning (sorry 027 LB), but the other 3 can very easily take each of their two opponents out.  It's still unclear to me, but if I were to guess right now, I would say:

Winners: Cataclysim and TesseracT.

Heat 7: Wraith and BMP certainly look deadly, but I'm not sure how well the HS will do, and ANAOARC...well... sucks, honestly.

Winners: Wraith and BMP.

Heat 8: Some of the deadliest bots in the tournament fighting in this heat.  Not sure if Get Snagged will do well against the spinners, or even the rammer for that matter, but Antaeus looks to be too reliant on those panels.

Winners: More Razors and Razey.

NTR is pretty stable. no havoking even once when i tested it on my computer. don't know how it does on Jonzu's PC, but if its the same as here, you guys will get raped by a Nintendo DS model number.

PREDICTIONS

50 oz fury: It's okay, but... i have some feeling this isn't really good. Maybe it's because of the lack of primary wedge. But it's BW. So we will see.
ANAORAC: Fail
Antaeus: Looking good.
BMP: Meh. It's not bad, but somehow i think it is average.
Baby Thing: :SFTW
Body Guard: Average, nothing more really. Too much weight has been spent on the wedge and i bet it's slow.
Breakfast: Oh, I see what you did there click. The weapons "breakfast" :P Awful pun aside, it looks good, but will probably will get beaten by the heavier weaponed bots head on.
Cataclysim: The splash is so small I can barely see the extender work. It doesn't looks really bad but exposed motors galore.
Child Prodigy: It looks good, but FOTEPX seems to do really badly in tournaments. We will see how it fares.
Drill Knife: Fail
Ecam's Messenger: I am guessing this is a joke bot. And an horrible one.
Get Hammered Again: Probably will fail soon
GetSnagged 6.0: PIGLETS FOR DRIVE :FFFUUU
Kamikaze: Very generic design, probably will fair well though
MacMillan: Attempts at doing a true popup in BW classes are really difficult. Not very good, but not bad as well.
Maniac: Decent bot, nothing more
Micro Launch Platform: Is that a popup or a flipper ?
Micro Mako: Heh, not bad of a design. It will probably lose to heavier weapon setups though.
Minor Impulse: Can this get enough points compared to the others ?
More Razors: Probably will get immobilized somewhere, or trash the competition. Faggiest entry award goes to this.
Mr. Fibble: OK bot, will probably lose to moar razored weapon setups though
Mr. Munchie BW: :fail: (Yeah this one is so horrible it deserves a smiley)
NTR-003: Eh, I don't like the weapon setup really. We will see how it fares though.
Puncture II: Probably good
Razey: Moar razors win matches.
Stupid Advertisements: A drum ? Every drum I have seen on BW class failed, or faired averagely.
TP-3 Mr. Heli: OK bot, nothing more
TesseracT: WILL FAIL QUICKLY
The Last Crusade: Not bad, not the best weapon setup though
Vaccination: Not surprised at all :P Should do OK unless against the better weapon racks
Wraith: Probably very good, knowing Urjak
Ytse Jam: OK bot, now we will see how it fares

My Predictions:

50 oz. Fury: Looks good. Wedge could be fragile, though.

ANAOARC: Good! I'm not the SFTW for once!

Antaeus: Good defense, decent weapon, butlooks too easy to get under.

BMP: If it's an SnS, then :SFTW

Baby Thing: Wow... but it's realistic!

Body Guard: One of the better looking bots, just the weapon might not hold up for long enough. :P

Breakfast: Pretty good.

Cataclysim: Except he spelled it wrong. Underbelly is exposed.

Child Prodigy: This is one that I'm scared of. Must be attacked from the back.

Drill Knife: Good, except that an SnS won't have enough room in the Small Arena.

Ecam's Messenger: ..wat?

Get Hammered Again: Too fragile.

GetSnagged 6.0: Might be a little fragile, but overall, it looks pretty good. :)

Kamikaze: Not much to say. Will be attached too quickly.

MacMillan: Looks pretty epic.

Maniac: Yet another one of my :SFTW

MLP MK3: ...I don't get it.

Micro Mako: I <3

Minor Impulse: Well that weapon's not going anywhere...

More Razors?: Yes.

Mr. Flibble: Another great bot.

Mr Munchie BW: Actually, there's nothing good to say. :P

Wraith: Will need a strong HS to destroy this one.

Also, did anyone else think STC's bot was a little bit erratic? Seemed to dance around on its hammer a lot.

It did what it had to; avoid the powerful spinner for longer than the other two.  I'm guilty of making a bot that does the same

I'm pretty sure STC's bot was spazzing because one of its motors got hit, thus unbalancing its drive.  All Or Nothing was the same way in BBEANS--worked like a charm at first, but couldn't drive worth crap once a motor got hit.


Also, NPC fast drive with hypnos is utterly insane on a BW.

If you do use a high spin speed, Crawlers wont Transitional Drift to well and the spin speed will suffer if you try to have them move to much..

Otherwise use FBS_1 or FBS_2

2 things.


Judging by the rammer AI, you (Jonzu) seem to be using my v3 Tactics.py, but not the updated Small Arena with collision lines.  Collision lines are absolutely essential for the new rammer tactics for detecting where the walls are so the AI can know to stop driving when they hit a wall.  The updated Small Arena is on my website and has been for some time.  Here is a link for your convenience: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/files/small_arena.zip (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/files/small_arena.zip)


Secondly, you can prevent the F9 window from popping up when you start recording by setting a different hotkey in Fraps.  I changed it to F8 so it doesn't trigger anything RA2-related.

there is quite difference between Rammer and Pusher AI yes. I know that from when I attempted AIing Nightbox2. the bot should have used the AI Basnik gave, not something entirely different. A rematch should be done, Jonzu. Whether you like it or not. Also do what Click said, it will help.

I too have the hotkey on F8 to film. But I placed it on that for other reasons then RA2.

It's not your fault Jonzu (well, MOSTLY not your fault); the only way you could have found out that you needed to re-download the Small Arena is if you looked in the original Rammer AI v3 thread which is quite old.  And the only reason you had Rammer AI v3 in the first place is because I sent it to you for CombatAnts.


That said, technically, you should refilm all the fights that had rammers in them.  In Badnik's case the lack of collision lines caused him to perform more poorly than he otherwise might have, but in other cases it could actually help, because the AI will stay out of the fight as it backs into the walls and lets the other bots kill each other.


However that would be a lot of work and we don't want to hold up the tourney longer than we need to so... just do whatever you think is best.


Either way, getting the updated Small Arena for round 2 would be a good idea.


If you decide not to refilm any fights, maybe you could do a first-round loser's bracket involving all the bots that lost in round 1, just to give those rammers (and Breakfast  :rolleyes: ) another chance?

About the brackets, or the AI?


IIRC for CombatAnts the two bots that advanced stayed together; there wasn't any reshuffling of bots, so you could do it that way for consistency.  Also it looks that way from the brackets.  You really should have decided that before you started the tournament though.


As for the AI, the bare minimum is to get the updated Small Arena.  Then you have four choices:


A) Do nothing, continue the tournament as normal since some rammers benefited from the mistake and others were hurt, so it all comes out even in the end.


B) Re-film Badnik's match with the fixed Small Arena.  (However, this might be unfair to the other rammers and bots that lost to them.)


C) Re-film all the matches with rammers with the fixed Small Arena (would basically be restarting from scratch since almost every match had a rammer in it).


D) Do a loser's bracket as a sort of consolation to first round losers--those that lost to "cowardly" rammers as well as rammers that lost due to being "cowardly" and hugging the walls.


No matter what you do, some people aren't going to like it, so don't worry about anyone's reactions.  Just make a decision and everyone else has to deal with it.

In my opinion, if he redoes one match with the new arena, he has to redo them all. Round 1 is done. Thats it. Round 2 should use the new arena. There should also be a small consolation bracket that uses the new arena as well.

Ok let's get one thing clear, your only chance of winning was via under the radar. Anorak can't KO, and can't score points.  I assume that when you say "going good" you meant "surviving" because it looked like you had the fewest points, and the bot with the second-fewest was roughly 2500 ahead of you.

The MM tourney rules mentioned no accordance with what BBEANS stated, there were no rules about "unfair immobilisation".
If what Jonzu said about actually using the correct AI is true, then you have no argument here either. (If not, then simply re-do with the same arena but correct AI, then fix for round 2)
