Mechapocalypse Signups
« on: January 03, 2011, 09:47:57 AM »
Backstory

The year is 2065. The world has been ravaged by war, and few cities remain. Within them, the battle for supremacy has begun. However the thought of human violence brings on an irrational fear, as it was human violence that created the desolate wasteland that now stands as Earth. Instead, the survivors scavenge for steel, and any electronics they can get their hands on, learning from the texts of the past to create mechanised warrior machines. In an abandoned warehouse, their creations do battle, fighting to become the ultimate champion in this barren age.

But only one will stand victorious, and reign over the ruined city. The rest will be left broken, smashed, and defeated. There is no place for losers in this new world.

Welcome to...

THE RULES

--Bots--
1. All entrants must be DSL 2.1 Middleweight. (249.0kg - 399.0kg)
2. All bot building MUST be done in the Bot Lab. No BFE AAM, or ZeroG. Bot File Armour c will be enforced.
3. Standard Realistic Rules apply, however all glitches may be utilised providing they do not violate this rule.
4. All entries must have a MAXIMUM of 20 components on their robot.
4. No cheatbot2, AI or custom components.
5. No "invincible" armour (halfsheets, skirt hinges, casters, etc.).
6. No skirt hinge (MCB) or Typhoon Flag underground wedges.
7. No crawlers.
8. No Flail Spinners of any kind. This is to reduce the threat of Havok Explosions.
9. Multibots are not allowed.

--The Tournament--
10. Each robot gets ONE free Havok Restart per match, and THREE for the entire tournament. Any further havok explosions will result in a forfeit, so keep this rule in mind.
11. If a robot is immobilized on a broken component with more than half battery power and no damage to its control board, the match will be restarted.
12. AI'ing your own bot is preferred. I will AI your bot if you are unable to, but all bots AI'd by me will use Onmi.py, and only move towards the opponent and use their weapons. They will NOT be fine-tuned.
13. Each match will last three rounds of two minutes each.
14. Matches will take place in a reskinned RA2T2 Arena. Hazards will be ON.
15. There will be 16 places available, with a Loser's Bracket. The Loser's Bracket and Winner's Bracket champions will fight in the Grand Final, where the Loser's Bracket Champion must win at least 3 out of 4 matches to become Grand Champion.
16. Once all 16 places are taken, entrants will have ONE WEEK to make minor updates to their bots. A minor update is one that does not significantly alter the robot's design, or the way it performs.
17. If all 16 places cannot be filled in significant time, signups will be "locked" on January 30th 2011. Any members entering after this date will be unable to submit updates for their bots. Members entered before this date will still be eligible to send minor updates.
18. Signups will officially close on February 2nd 2011. If all 16 places have not been filled, byes will be issued randomly in the first round.

ENTRANTS

RED means your robot does not comply with building regulations.
BLUE means your robot has been received, but not yet implemented into the game.
ORANGE means there is a technical problem with your robot.
GREEN means your robot has been AI'd and is ready to fight.

Is "invincible" armour only if the component is used as armour?
Otherwise things like multi extenders can't be used.
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

If you're referring the the bot in your showcase, then I'm still slightly unsure about it. Multi Extenders are only invincible when they're mounted to the baseplate, though, and the chassis gets hit before they do.

I will allow titanium halfsheets to be used on the baseplate, so long as:
1) They are not used solely for armour purposes. (Adding stabilising skirts to it is fine)
2) No more than half the baseplate is covered by them.

In my experience, they're not brilliant as armour anyway, but that is what people use them for.

And madman, which bot on the exchange is yours? It doesn't give me one with your username.

But the Titanium halfsheet isn't being used as armour, in S_M's case. It's being used to hold the stabilising skirts. It was always going to be kind of a grey area in that sense.

Technically that's still changing the rules. But I dunno.

But anyway:

2) No more than half the baseplate is covered by them.
