mayfly mayhem
can't be bothered with an actual logo
Why is this called Mayfly Mayhem? Well:
1: This tournament is single elimination and it only has 8 competitors.
2: I hope to rattle this out in a week or two once I get all bots in and AI'd.
3: All robots must have plastic armor, ram plates and snowplows aren't allowed and caster armor is banned. Everyone dies incredibly quickly.
But wait, it's not just a Complete Carnage copy!
4: Hovercrafts are mandatory.
Mayflies have a life span of 24 hours. This tournament will last a very short time.
Yeah, it's a sh** name. IK.
Basically, i'm just getting to grips with tournament hosting with a short and meme-filled tournament.
As i'm no Stock builder, i'm not entering. I just figured this would be simple for a meme.
General Rules:
0: I withhold the right to do anything with this tournament as I see fit if something has horribly gone wrong. I don't WANT to use this rule but with my host history it's best to have a Plan B.
1: You can't enter till your robot is accepted and received.
2: I'm not entering.
3: In thecase i end up with spaces unfilled (after a period of second entries if necessary), I will attach a hovercraft (and air to use on it) to one of the Stock AI (nothing is more scary than flying EMERGENCY).
Building Rules
1: Stock V1.4.
2: Unrealistic Building Style.
3: Heavyweight
4: All robots must use hovercrafts.
5: No ramplates, snowplows, caster armor.
6: RA2CF (all of it except for attachment point hermaphroditism) is allowed.
5-6a: Don't use component intersection for caster armor.
7: No BFE, AAM, .py wizardry or text file editing allowed.
8: All AI parts allowed.
9: Jokebots are actively encouraged. Just make sure they can actually be AI'd.
Match rules:
Fights will be 1 minute.
The bracket will be single elimination.
The fights will be Best of 1.
Battles will be done in the Small Arena. Hazards Off.
I've almost certainly missed something out here, so let me know what it is.
tl;dr: i want to do a quick tournament to get back into hosting, it's Stock HW, all robots need to have hovercrafts, and must have plastic armor and no ramplates, plows or caster armor. Everyone dies.

1 yes, 5 no. Somehow I'm not surprised.
If you voted no please say why you did so.
-
I voted no because I don't like building Stock.

I voted no because I don't like building Stock.
Exact opposite of why I voted yes.
-
I voted no Becuase I run out of bot idea in stock.

6: RA2CF (all of it except for attachment point hermaphroditism) is allowed.
Wat?

I expect nothing but memes and cancer. I welcome it.

You do realize that means people can make invincible robots, right?

That being said, people don't like the idea of using component intersections. As i've already got the 5 votes needed to run the tournament, I'm going to run a second poll which asks if you want component intersections on or off, and if you will take part in the tournament. I'm not sure if this second poll invalidates the first so i'm going to include the 'I will/will not enter' poll.

I will enter something.

My mistake.

The poll is all sorts of wrong. You give no option to those that want to enter with intersecting components and 'Yes to Both' is a bit stupid when both options are 'I will enter' and 'I won't enter'.

The poll is, "Will you enter this, and do you want RA2CF component intersections?". "Yes to Both" means, "I will enter and I want RA2CF intersection."

I will enter something.
This is proof that there is no such thing as a benevolent God.

Right. I've enough votes to move onto the signups stage, but because GCSE revision is getting pretty stressful and I should not be procrastinating on it, i'm going to leave this in discussion for a month or two. If the mods could not lock this so I can get this going again quickly when I'm ready that'd be great.

don't you have to have more yes votes than no votes
-
don't you have to have more yes votes than no votes
The nays have a majority of one.

"I will enter but i don't want component intersections" seems to imply to me that if the current rules are kept, they would not enter.
-
don't you have to have more yes votes than no votes
Its half the entry total you want.

The poll still wouldn't look sexy if the rule was changed, but a rule change would help.

Just to clarify a few things:
You currently do not have enough votes to run the tournament as it is. You only have 3 "I will enter, and I want component intersections." votes, and you need 4. If you disallow component intersections, you do have enough votes to run the tournament, since you have 7 "I will enter, but I don't want component intersections." votes. The total number of "No" votes is irrelevant to whether or not the tournament can run; no votes are just to help judge whether the tournament needs tweaking or anything. (I put the numbers in so that, when they change later, this post still makes sense.)
However, if you're going to wait for a month or two before running (which is fine), I'd ask you to re-run the poll when you actually want to start the tournament, since members coming/leaving can sway what kind of votes you get. (That's assuming I haven't been fired by then.)

Alright then. I will re-run the poll when I'm ready.
