Black Knight - My first prototype looked like this. But I'm still worried about the rear part. If the target's placed there, even a light hammer can reach it.

Black Bull - All I know is that it packs quite a punch. Couldn't say much about it.

Bloodbird - Kinda slow, and too bad pointy tips have normals. A small amount of razors could've worked on this one.

Nerdicus, the Scholar - Another case of a nice idea that's executed poorly. It would perform much better if it had a longer arm.

Scott the Hard - Ummm... the target is facing to the left, you know? :P

Excessive - Freaky. O_O

Fred The Fast - I wonder where JB would put the target. XD

Raptor Knight - All-around protection. Kewl. :D

Sideshow Freak - This was a rush job. And that's more that half of the bot's weight on that single DDT, folks! Don't worry, if it performs poorly, it's expected. :P

Sir Fangsalot - Nice, but it could've used some more weapons at the back.

Sir Robin The Brave - It's gonna take some luck to hit this target, 'cause this bot's FAST.

The Knight Slayer - Though sledges suck, the target's still pretty weak, so it might get some wins.

Vicious Chicken of Bristol - YAY SAWZ! The reach could've been increased if a tribar's used, though.

Lava Monster - Heh. It's just like Sir Fangsalot's bigger brother! XD

Suicide - Cool concept, dunno how it fares. But what I do know is that the others are surely gonna have a hard time hitting the target. :P

Backwards Bob - I don't want to lose to that. :P

Can i send a slight modification of my bot with an actual skin? RK's (while definitely not the worst bot here) is a prototype and the skin's not hilarious enough.

Probably going to be sent tomorrow however because i have a pretty tight schedule today.

Believe it or not, my first build of black knight involved flails on the burst motors, as I was kinda hoping for a Ball on a chian effect.

didn't work, so on the previous deadline, i rushed and made that, thinking it would'nt be original, But with these bots, it kinda is :ermm:

Is that SFTW tournament or what ? I see so much fail in that splash.

Anyways ... Predictions ...

Black Knight: This is actually one of the best bots here, it might even be better than mine. Might get a few WBP's because of high offense, and DK's one of the few builders to put a few armor on his bot.

Black Bull: It looks cool, and Trinity side hammer = win. Not sure about the armor's quality though. One of the best competitors right here still.

Blood Bird: Weak weapon, massive fail on drive train. SFTW.

Nerdicus the Scholar: Weapon is too short IMO, and slow thing. Is that even a HW ??

Scott the Hard: LOL WUT

Excessive: Indeed. 4WD RAD drive is fail as well, and the chassis is huge. Fearsome weapon array however... will this be that bot's greatest asset or unstability cause ? We'll see.

Fred the Fast: The weapon's kinda long and weak. That's very fast as well... While i don't have a lot of faith in that design, we'll see how it fares.

Raptor Knight: Heavy armor ftw. The weapon's not very effective - it needs a few more tweaks and a rebuild.

Sideshow Freak: It would be an impressive opponent if that extender was protected, but NO! It still can get a few wins if it touches the enemy first.

Sir Fangsalot: Bleh, that's not even average...

Sir Robin the Brave: It IS well built, but i doubt 8WD is really a good choice.

Knight Slayer: This is not DSL. An average opponent.

VCOB: I am guessing this is an intentional SFTW.

Lava Monster: Another guy that doesn't knows how to build correctly... There is worse though.

Suicide: Weird. I don't even get how it works... I'll see it soon.

Backwards Bob: Well it's a house bot so it's designed to fail... not the worst still.

EDIT: And battle 1... that tournament could be awesome but there's so much crap entered that you get lame fights like that.

easiest thing to do would be just zip the BMP skin as I have set the controls, smartzones, etc already for your bot

I wanted to change the 2 T-connectors into 20cm round extenders and razors to irons as well...

they are basically AI'd to accelerate as soon as the match starts and not stop at any point...some use left right controls but most can just use weight distribution

Dam, are you kidding me we could use more than one burst motor:frown:. JB How far away is my match from being filmed, My original idea had 2 burt motors with one weapon and one had armour, I didn't know we could use more than so I just went with 1 and entered that garbage:smiley:. Is there time for me to slap on another burst motor real quick with some armour.(my original idea). Nary I'm not sure what you mean by DSL, I'm a 100% sure all the parts are stock. Edit: I'm not going to change my weapons because I don't want people to think O viper looked at the bots and now wants to change his whole bot around so he  can win the tourney or do better, I just wanted to remove the static side armour and put it on another burst  motor:-D.

(1) You might try lowering both the friction and elasticity to '0' on the center dividing wall in the gmf. Should help bots 'slide' instead of 'bounce' off the center wall.
(2) May I look at your AI.py?

Yes they are, but Stock sledgehammers are worthless on a horizontal spinner. What i meant is even if sledges are great in DSL, they suck on stock.

Can't really blame you since you're a pure DSLer, but just saying.

Ha ,Didn't even have to remake it I had it saved the whole time:smiley:. This was my first version but I was unsure about the amount of Burst motors sense I was going of the first House bot made by JB as an example of what to make. As you can see the only difference is the one I sent in had 2 sledje hammers and 2 hammerheads as a tail for balance and 2 static ramplates. This one  has an extra Burst motor with 2 ramplates and a snowplow. This one is less stable but I feel a whole better with the movable armour:evil:. So JB it's really up to you;). @ Nary lol Ya I didn't know sledje hammers suck in stock as you can tell I don't play stock much, I guess we will see how good the hammers are against Trumpet.

Nerdicus, the Scholar - hmm looks slow and the weapon dosent look long enough and no armour, I should take the win depnding on if I can send in my first version with the 2 burst motors in but even if I can't I still feel pretty confident:evil:.

Scott the Hard - Another epicfail01 bot from LRA2 what a suprised;). I honsetly think the house bots are a better opponet than this lol.

Excessive - Good weapons. not sure how  good the drive is but still think it will do well. Top 5

Fred The Fast. Looks really fast and would be hard to hit the target. I like the concept:smiley:.

Raptor Knight - Very well built Good Defense and Offense. Top 5.

Sideshow Freak - My jaw dropped when I seen this bot:eek:, it has no armour and the extender is exposed but when all those razors fall onto a bot would those things really matter;). Top 5

Sir Fangsalot - Another fail IMO, but you won the first round so congratz:approve:. But chances are you won't make it past the 2nd

Sir Robin The Brave - well built but the weapons weren't long enough, Tough loss.

The Knight Slayer - Version I sent, Come to find out the hammers are suspect because according to some people they suck on HS but I have some side armour so it might do okay. Version I want to send, Weapons setup is still suspect but with the movable armour I think it will be much better but still not sure if I can switch it so Idk.

Vicious Chicken of Bristol - I think if you didn't put those extenders with icepicks on it and was more stable then it woulden't have been a fail in IMO. Congratz on round 1 win:smiley:.

Lava Monster - I actually like this bot, it's average and it will prolly out score most people bots with all the iron spikes.

Suicide - Now that I looked in your showcase and seen how it works I'm still not sure, what if you land on the enemys weapon when the bot launches, other than that it very well built.

Backwards Bob - The sad thing is it's better than a couple of people bots:lol: .

(1) I might need to call tech support.... which is you for that one, will give it a try anyway :P

(2) err.. there is no custom .py for this one I just used omni with some cleaver control wiring :P they work fine they just keep on accelerating after the match which people then think they are out of control, the only issue I was having is the drop distance is increased when using the large smartzones

but all in all its just a bit of fun while I work on CC3 its not ment to be a serious tournament

as for the grudge matches... there will be another bracket after the main one which I guess is like the losers bracket but Im calling it the consolation bracket which every competitor but the final 2 will be in it, and you will enter at the point you were knocked out (... like BBEANS)

not very happy at the moment :-(

Backwards Bob has been withdrawn as for some reason bounces when it hits the floor flipping itself over (it seriously never did that yesterday when I AI'd it)

Failious then took its place and after filming 36 jousts between it and pwnator one ONE match they made contact :-(

so either play around with some AI to reduce Failious's speed so its not to fast for Sideshow Freak or just leave it with one joust

its not so much that it sucks its just rather slow, by the time it gets going Failious's bursts retracts before it can make impact.. it also doesnt help that Failious has a short reach.. given its a house robot I might just make it a 1 joust match

my website's host company is going through a new software upgrade and are currently testing out the beta... as a result many people are getting flash player related crashing and I myself am getting constant crashing will in editing mode... because of this the bracket has now been posted as an Image to page 1 and videos will only be posted in page 1 (not on the site for the time being)

yeah I did think of stability but that chassis is completely Air Tight, things had to be stacked to cram it all in so it would be difficult unless I used smartzones :P

The E-wedges are for stabilizing the bot since the mass is inclining to the right. It also serves as a support DDT so the weapons can fling faster. XD

lol the reason he had the wedjes I thought were pretty obvious his wepon prolly ways more than the bot. Looking at the bracket: I think pwn will beat Badnik in the 2nd round they both have no armour but if his weapons hits Badnik's bot it's a wrap. I think hopefully I'll beat trumpet because of his weapon length and the lack of armour, We all know LRA2 lossed lol. I think it will be tough to beat  Nicsan because of all his irons so I can't call it but If I do win Ill hopfully see you in the 3rd round:evil:.

WTF does that mean? Um, you built one of the worst bots in the tourney. Look at everybody elses bot compared to yours, incase you coulden't figure it out  everybody weapons  moves left or right. no you didnt send a fixed one, you may if you like. from memory I angled the razors slightly upwards to allow it to clear a little more... or I could ask mad how to lower the wall

oo why I think of it mad helped me tweak out a V2 arena that has the center wall as slippery and frictionless as the game will allow which hopefully should increase the quality of matches

@LRA2: dont forget I did the target placements so yours will be in the same place as all other robots

Joe, I might suggest that Jousters put some smooth, slippery (non-grippy) component on the side that will rub up against the wall... Tires and such should be inside the chassis or armor, and not touch the wall.
 
This is a cool Tourney, so Trov and I are working on an AI.py that will reduce dependence upon the wall almost totally (special thanks also to Apanx for his input).
After RAW2 arena is done we'll finish it.

Thanks for all your hard work Mad! This tourney has been a learning experience for sure.  I think a lot of us would have fared better if we had tested our bots properly in some fashion to find out the bugs.  I basically built mine based on the rules and the pictures, but if i had tested mine against a wall of some sort i probably would have designed it a bit different.

Thanks to Trov and Apanx too. You guys are in the background making this all a reality. Props to you.

I want to thank Trov and Apanx for all their input towards this and not forgetting a HUGE thank you to Mad for his help with so much...I have learnt so much from him over the last few months, all of his input is very much appreciated and its really awesome to see people coming together to further explore Jousting in RA2 :-D

battle 6, LRA2 vs Nicsan is up. it is only a one fight match as LRA2's robot is small, flat and has no way of getting anything into the path of another robot so Lava Monster had a hard tome hitting it and obvious reasons LRA2 had a hard time hitting Lava Monster so 1 match they made contact :-D

next up will be the previously postponed matches

LRA2 please think before you speak, if you followed the rules on page 1 or even used the the first housing bot as an example on how to make your bot then you would of had better results. I know you seen the example video right? What were you thinking sending that garbage in, your weapons can turn left or right maigically and fly through walls:lol:. the consolation bracket is up on page 1 (otherwise known as the losers bracket) it is different to BBEANS... the winner will not be facing the winner of the main bracket it is a standalone bracket for a consolation prize (hence the name)

I think TG's design is actually quite good, in 2 matches now it has struck an opponent without the opponent getting any points, I think weapon placement is really good here, I will be surprised if it takes out Pwnator but I wont say its imposable

it works like double elimination from BBEANS everyone but the last 2 robots (the final) gets a second chance in this bracket, but you enter at the point you lost... so if you went out round 2 you enter at the point of round 2

Hey, hey, hey. Let's not go there. And as annoying as they come, entrants are still entrants and they should be treated like other entrants. LRA2 didn't cheat on his bot and abided by all the rules (he did, but his bot still can't do much) and that's probably good enough for him to stay in a tourney. :P

I don't know about viper but i wasn't saying that he should be kicked out of the tournament , but i really want to know if LRA2 and Frezal are one in the same thats it. I believe that everyone should get a chance to compete no matter what there skill level is.

Well  if I was hosting tournments and someone was toying with my emotions and getting me upset saying things like My AI'ing sucked or I've been cheating them or whatever(Their is more he said I can't think of it off the top of my head) I would be pretty pissed come to find out it was just another member Fu***** with me the whole time, and also the timeless time I tried helping him. So it's fair that people make muiltiple acounts and enter tourneys with them. Ha, I got a new strategy I'm just going to make 7 different accounts and enter 7 different entry's to increase my chance of winning Tourney's:evil:. JB I really don't care about SCOTT THE HARD it's not like I'm worried, If it was me and I was being toyed with I woulden't find it funny thats all I'm saying.

the issue is that we dont really know for sure as GameKing3 said it is just a hunch right now and Im not going to act on just a hunch, if it really was Frezal multi accounting then I would be a bit annoyed given all the time I dedicated towards LRA2,

but nothing I can do until this all plays out and we find out more

I posted them into the losers bracket in an order so I have decided I would do it again and feed them through the randomizer and basically swap the top 2 names with each other and the bottom 2 names with each other

Well it's not my fault The bots made no contact I wasn't the idiot who didn't follow the instructions and rules of the tourney. I think I got niscan in the secound round(not 100%sure). I've been so busy with putting W7 HD in my new phone I forgot all about this, I'm glad I came back to some good results I would of quit tourney's forever if I lost to LRA2:evilsmile:.

Myself vs My Tournament (funny set up lol) is now up, Failious didnt want to cooperate so its only one match, its one of the best jousts suicide has done (you can finally see what gave it, its name)

leave what way mad ? the start positions ? that happens from using the large circle smartzones, I have been changing other robots to correct this problem if they struggle because of the higher drop

Anyways JoeBlo, great tournament.  To be honest when you started this, I didn't think it would work.  And while the ARE still some kinks to work out, you made it fun and interesting.  And being different from anything else out there is definitely a plus too.
