Title: Keep Your Enemies Close - Signups
Post by: Philippa on January 16, 2014, 01:49:54 AM
(http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/images/ic/640x360/p01lzbgf.jpg)
So I was messing around with tournament concepts in my head, and then I remembered there was a TV show with a similar premise, so I took the title.

RULES
Game - DSL 2.1
Weight - Middleweight
Realistic Rule - IRL Realistic
TWO ROBOTS per entrant is required.
16 entrants, so 32 robots. (See battle rules.)
If you can't AI, I will AI for you, just don't get whingey if your robot doesn't win.
You can't enter until I have received and accepted your robot.

BUILDING RULES
Middleweight class robots only. 249.0kg - 399.0kg
Only in game glitches are allowed -  eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading.
No external editing at all - BFE, AAM and so on.
Must have at least 2 wheels for controlled movement.
Tracked robots are eligible, the weight cushion is - The actual treads only count for half their real weight.
No scuttlers, crawlers or walkers.
Multibots are banned for obvious reasons.
No unrealistic weapon sizes and quantities.
You can upgrade your robot or send a new one as often as you like until signups end.
Judge Bursts and MOE motors are the only non-wheel Cheatbot2 components allowed. All wheels allowed.
One Judge Burst per bot.

BATTLE RULES
3 minute fights.
Official Robot Arena 2 Tournament arena, I might reskin it again.
Hazards on.
If a robot havoks then I will restart the match. I will keep restarting until there is a havok-free match. Fights with havoks will not be shown.

Arena

Round One - 32 robots from 16 entrants are put into completely randomised teams. Two teams will be pitted against each other and the two robots from the winning team move on to Round Two. There will be 8 battles with 4 robots in each.
Round Two - 16 robots are now left and are taken away from their first round partner and given another randomised one. The 8 new teams will compete in 4 battles, the winning team go through.
Round Three - 8 robots left and teams are randomised again. 2 battles with 2 teams, winning 2 teams advance.
Grand Final - Only 4 robots are left now, teams are randomised again and the winning team are declared overall champions.

Judging will be done by me.
Each team will be given a mark out of 10 for Style, Control, Damage, Aggression, and Teamwork, so a maximum of 50 points in total for each team.

IMO it would be cooler if the grand final was a 4-way FFA melee.

Sounds like fun. Just a shame that DSL2 feels archaic to me now, next to 3.

Well there is the thing about it being IRL and having glitches be allowed... just seems illogical is all. Either way I like it and will enter.

A little bit of news, I won't be accepting or AI-ing any entries because my DSL refuses to load when I create a new AI team, but you can still send them to me and I'll look at them when the problem is fixed.  :approve:

My entries. ^^ I think they can both be considered RL, there's ever so slight clipping on both, but nothing that couldn't be shaved off/done. Let me know if they won't slide and I'll get about rebuilding them.
