All right, Ironbot signups are open for one week starting... NOW.  They will close on July 31 at midnight Central time.  SIGNUPS ARE CLOSED.

Sending your bot is easy.  Simply upload it (either using the file uploader or the bot exchange) and PM me the link.  Alternatively, you can send it as an attachment via e-mail to clickbeetlethreethreesixfour@gmail.com (but type the threethreesixfour as 3364).

Just to clarify, Hax Mode is too new and controversial to be considered a "normal" building technique, therefore it is NOT allowed.
 
What is the max amount of people?

You should have told him before hand, because that's when he would have allowed you to have a spot saved.


I also noticed how in the test run click did that the most deadly spinner in the whole test was the first one out, which could mean something...

I am again years out of practice but thought to send the last updated bot I worked on.


Will see if I am still at least semi-competitive.


Clickbeetle, let me know if I submitted wrong or committed some error in the bot or AI.


I would submit War Machine as well for the fun of it but it has too many casters. (Will have to see if I can adjust that fast enough)

Do you know how tempted I am to make a bot and use HAX mode to stack 2 pinks together on it, just to get it disqualified during the filming stage?
I'm constantly swatting my mouse away from the RA2 game I have on my desktop.

What do you mean?  All of the required rules are clearly stated.  And I'm major league so I can open signups whenever I want right?
 
I thought about copying the full rules into this thread so you could do your "these are the rules they cannot change" thing... but what's the point, I'm an admin, if I wanted to be cheaty I could just edit your post. :P
 
 
Anyway I'm up to 10 bots now.  It's going a bit slower than I expected... come on people, don't tell me I'll have to extend signups another week just to get enough bots!

3.11 If a bot has vertical spinning weapons and it loses some weapons, the remaining weapons will be arranged in order to keep the bot as balanced as possible.

That's what you saw.

Dawned on me that rule:


     4.2 All legal bots received during that time will be accepted; there is no limit on the number of entries.


Does not mean more than one entry per person. So I probably do not need to push to remake Warmachine to fit the 6 caster max rule.


I did do more testing of my entry and it has been beating a solid 36HS design from last year, 18 out of 20 matches (your mileage may vary and another 36HS could still consistently beat my entry, oh well). Like any tournament though, could lose wheels early on, could get unlucky pair up with another HS design early in the match ups and both lose most of their weapons, could on a quirk Havok out of the arena. Anything could happen. Looking forward to the videos. I like this format Clickbeetle, should make for some fun matches (and represents people fixing their bots to the best of their ability between rounds). In my testing my entry could take out many types of HW opposition in 40 to 60 seconds from a few years ago but often not in less than 30 seconds. So other designs that just focus on just surviving might do much better.

Well his mission was to have a sweet condensed tourney that would not suck away all his energy in preparation for BBEANS.

I don't think he will be too heartbroken if he doesn't get a ton of entries.

Wolfsbane is getting a chance to enter late due to the fact that he's been on vacation since June 21st with no RA2.  (An impassioned plea for mercy didn't hurt either.)
 
But as far as I can tell you've had the full month to work on a bot.  If nothing else you can just enter an old bot.
 
Do note that I will allow you to send AI after the deadline.  You only can't update the bot's components after signups close.

Nature of the tourney changes the type of bot that might do well. 30 second survive with minimal damage is a very different way to build. So a durable bot from earlier times might do very well this time around.

I'll give any last-minute entries a couple minutes leeway, to account for imprecision in different clocks.  (Sorry Somebody.)  Say 15 minutes or so.  But signups are officially closed beyond that.

Starcore, you should use Rubber wheels instead of Grannies. They have a larger collision mesh, meaning they will still provide invertibility while becoming smaller targets and looking better as well.
      Also, it might be beneficial to use the snapper loading glitch (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,4512.0.html) to attach the drive motors on the inside point of the 40cm (see that little bit of extender we can see before it enters the batteries? attach them there). This will give the motors slightly more protection as well as allow you to rotate the drive motors flush with the ground, creating less ground clearance and making it tougher on those pesky popups.
    The last thing would be that the backs of ramplates have never seemed very sturdy to me (perhaps I'm wrong here, but that's what I found in my experience). So, I think it would be beneficial to move the side ramplates back a bit if possible. The weight gain from the other modifications should be enough for another couple extenders.

That looks really good, especially for something that old. I am cautiously excited for this tournament. I have a rammer with 40 something maces and it's good against HS, but a lot of it will be who I fight when. So far Sage is the only one to have the bot because he helped me skin it.

Some good suggestions. Will play with the Rubber Wheels and as I look at it I may have a connect points along the central connect 40cms extenders that I will play with. I agree with making the Motors more flush with the ground as a result.


As to the Backs of the Ram Plates, I have not done specific testing to confirm but have not had negative using them this way and I deeply liked the trapping effect of the corners.

Your mileage may vary but in AI vs AI testing as shown T-888 Terminator bested the 36HS ULTIMATUM 2010 edition 14 out of 16 tests and every Rammer I could throw against it, defeating them in under 50 seconds each.


Still doesn't mean it will do as well in the Ironbot rounds and the 30 second rounds have impact on one's tactics.


We will see,

Yes both sides are AGOGed down pretty much the same amount to offset the snapper connector being pushed up by the weight/tension/torque. In testing seemed to help as much as any hurt from the effect so I left it.

I've got an SnS as well, with 36 Irons/Maces and an extra 4 Razor Tips. I'm hoping it should hold out pretty well against HS and a few of the wedged bots, maybe less so against rammers.

Yes I spot check these forums every few months by searching for my name.


I see if people are having fun with the packs I brought to the scene.


Any issues they are having with installing or using or AIing using my designs.


So I find posts out of sequence because I am finding them by search vs forum flow in most cases. That is why I sign every one of my posts.


I really wonder if most any of you would be here if I had not authored the Starcore packs, promoted and led the team that created DSL or promoted AI tournaments and wrote the AI tutorials and examples?


I do my best to drop in and answer questions. I smile to see people cut their teeth fighting the Starcore bots. And I take pride to see how DSL has grown. I don't have time to make bots for the changes and improvements that have happened for DSL but I join in Stock Tourneys when I notice in time (People are welcome to PM me when a new Stock Tourney starts up if they want to see me involved).


I wish you all well but I don't have time to be snipped at.

Starcore, there's few people here who can actually create worthwhile reccomendations to a builder of your caliber. So when people don't, it's more of a compliment really to your building skill. Forgive JD and GK, they're so used to telling the new guys not to create multiple posts in a row that they don't realize it's really not that big of a deal.

It's nice to have you around and I would hate to see you stay away because of something like this.

Same here. After making a custom AI for one of my failed prototypes, I wasn't left with much time (to make a new bot or AI). I ended up making something quick that could use the otherwise wasted AI.py (even if it meant doing a total of 3 battles for testing/optimizing). I may add something to the AI to make it more competitive. That is to say that I'll have the time.

I think it's because he informed Click beforehand that he was given an extension. I don't think you can just pop up and say "o hai heres my bot i was away". It kinda defeats the point of the signups deadline.
