Oh boy, I got a lot to talk about here.

Rock Grinder: Looks pretty fragile, but it might do well at trapping opponents

Eclipse: Looks fast as hell, but it's speed might expose those wheels, which could be it's downfall.

Mjolnir: Hopefully I can take on some of those exposed tops in this tourney.

Overhaul: If it's anything like in that challenge match, it might have some havok issues here.

Glenn: Liking the derpy face on the skin, but it's wide chassis might cause some problems.

RADiATiON: Seems to be more of a balance between speed and weaponry.  Smart move.

Son of Fang: Ah, consistensy with entrants.  Looks like it might havok with how the drive is set up.

SpinForwardLeftRight2: Have I seen you somewhere before.  :rolleyes:  Well, it's a hybrid, whih is kinda brave for the type of tournament.

Tupperware-N-Tear: For the only VS in the tourney, it looks like it might flop like a fish if it takes a hard enough hit.

doot: LW Grinding Noise?  Might do well if that's the case.

Saw on a Stick: Looks a bit fragile to any HS's in this, but since there is one, it might not have too many issues.

Strep Throat: This bot was made with armor for HS's and Rammers.  This might go well for me.

Gear Grinder: Wammer with a bad wedge.  This proabably won't end well.

Martbell: Derpy face bot that took the Dark July approach I see.  Well with all these VS's here, this could be bad.

Western Star: Shell Spinner with Irons?  Alright then.  It's confusing, but I might see why you made that choice.

Hothead: Looks like the bot to last a war of attrition.  Wheels being that exposed miht be bad though.

PUNCHCAT: Oh dear, this one looks outclassed.  Unless it pulls a D.O.G. and last more rounds than me.

Symphonioteque 2: Can't tell if that's slightly unrealistic or not, but it's another VS, so... yeah.

F*** YEAH AMERICA: Probably having some fragile weaponry, but the defenses make up for it for the most part.

Rijisttafel: Wammer with weapons barely poking out.  Might spell disaster against those VS's.

HUNGRY HUNGRY HOMOVORE: Not even gonna try to enter a decent bot Mechadino?  Shame on you.  Instead we got williamjones #42 1/3.

Madness: Pokers are deadl in Ironforge, so this is one to look out for.

Flip Flop Rock: Free Bye-Bot!  Here's your Free Bye-Bot of the tourney!

YOLOOE SVEG: Dark July approach with some speed.  As long as thoe extenders steer clear of danger, this might do well.

The Killer Dynamo: Derpy face round 3.  The treads might provide good armor, but other than that, it's another rammer.

GET ME OFF: Seriously, another fricking rammer!  This one might do well with the giant hammer as light weapon bait.

Splittin Image: If this is stable, it might do well with those exposed tops here.

Really Bad Robot: VS with some heavy weaponry.  As long as it doesn't lose one tooth, it might have a good chance.

Aasvogel: Lots of hammers for weapons, that might not be the best laid plan for a VS.

S A D B O Y S: Might do well as a gut ripper since it's got some heavy armor and it's weaponry looks pretty nasty.

Some cool bots here.  Here's what I think of mine:

Glenn is alright, until he gets flipped over.  He's technically invertible, but with all those spikes on there, he basically just flops forwards instead of ramming.  Hopefully it won't be a problem, given how short the matches are gonna be.
Martbell is too slow to really work as a rammer, due to me skimping on the drive.  I'm hoping that the other bots just break themselves against the beater bar rack.
The Killer Dynamo is kinda underweaponed.  I jammed treads on there to make sure he wouldn't get de-wheeled, but that ate a lot of weight.  He also has terrible battery life.  Shouldn't be a problem in the 30 second rounds, but if he somehow makes it to the finals, he'll run out of power long before the rumble's over.

Shameless plug: if you entered the Stock portion of this, please enter Death Defying Decemberween Demolition Derby.  You can use the same bot, I don't mind.

Alright, end of the first round, and Team Dancing Brothers hasn't taken any damage, so that's good.

I like how the pictures of the robots are surrounding the match.  That's a nice touch.

EDIT: Yikes, Martbell's up against AMERICA.  And Killer Dynamo vs Aasvogel.  Not liking those matchups.

Exactly. They all break their weapons on your hammer and the chassis HP regens every fight, whereas component armor that break off would not.

That's Eclipse for ya. It's meant to annihilate components and do massive damage. It's not good against things like iron spikes, so the first round was just a bad matchup. :P

I've just put it as using omni.py with ram tactics. The rule about AI for static weapons is less about ramming and more about not pinning, so I can change it back if you want.

But they were both my first bots back, but I am surprised by hothead.

I still like Ironbot's format.  Thank you for doing this tournament so I can see how it plays in other RA2 versions and in different weight classes.

Conclusion: DSL and Ironforge matches need more time.  And maybe LW's should not get a spare control board, or something to prevent so many unkillable weaponless bots running around (doot).

To be brutally honest, I think it's just down to sh**ty AI-ing meaning it cant even drive toward the opponent, combined with the fact that it's super fast. Not that I'm an AI expert at all.

alright bit of a problem
i was getting the round 10 matchups and realized that in round 9 of stock, overhaul was supposed to fight instead of doot. i'll re-record that and have it fight eclipse so that round 10 matchups are accurate. hopefully it'll be up within the next hour or so.

Sheesh.  Every single match with a rammed has been a suspenseful moment since Mjlolnir is essentially a crippled bot that can lose its wheels very easily.

And good to know Flip Flop Rock is like an armored tank.  That probably won't matter much h against a rammer.

Really hoping for Mjolnir to win the stock side of things, it'd be cool for a hammer to win something. In hindsight, I should have made Aasvogel's motor more powerful and just used 2 hammers. Also I adore how batsh** insane Rijsttafel is.

I altered The Killer Dynamo's bindings before the match to have it over-correct itself less, though after recording, it seemed like it was turning a bit too slow. I'll fix that for the next round.

Glenn had lost no weapons, but he had lost most of his stabilizer, so I was worried about his ability to drive correctly in the final.  Sure enough, he went and got wedged into the arena spikes somehow.  I thought I had lost it right there, but somehow he got saved at the last second by Eclipse and went on to win it all.  Thanks for the save!

Martbell tried his best, but he went in with only half his weapons.  Plus, he got the rest of his weapons knocked off pretty soon into the match.  I thought Rjisistaffel would take it, being seemingly unable to get hit, but losing that wheel did it in.  Also I thought it was funny how tiny Martbell's chassis was next to the other bots, particulary HHH.

The Killer Dynamo has terrible battery life, and I thought that would end up killing it in the final.  Luckily, KD was the last bot to have a controllable weapon (Aasvogel had the hammer but it's not like it could actually control it at that point).  Even though KD got really slowed down by the end, looks like it was enough to knock out his deweaponed and destabilized opponents.

Wowie, 2/3 is way better than I expected going into this.  Heck, I was thrilled just getting all three Dancin' Brothers into their respective final rounds.

Thanks for sticking with the tournament, Lightning!  I thought it was fun, though maybe the timing and stuff might need a bit of tweaking for lower weight bots.

Man, I never expected to have either of my bots in final, especially with that batsh** insane wammer. I love how Aasvogel slowly became more and more chaotic as the final went on and I was surprised at how well Rijsttafel performed, I feel like if it wasn't flipped over it may have actually had a chance.

Anyway, great tournament, Lighting, really nicely done. Definitely the best tournament I've seen since I've been here.

I'm just impressed that both my crippled hammer and my weaponless Kheeper bot made it to the final.  I wasn't expecting Mjolnir to go far, but after seeing it do well in matches, I actually wanted to see it win just to see a LW hammer in an Ironbot setting can win.  I had low hopes that it could win, but hey, third place is fine, so I'll take it.
