Identity Theft
« on: January 18, 2015, 11:29:04 AM »

So, I've had this idea for quite a long time and decided to start this! It's called "Identity Theft" and the theme is IRL robots based off real robots. I hope to get somewhere with this so please help.

Rules
-Ironforge 1.0
-32 entrants
-Enter 1 or 2 robots per person (1 is minimum)
-Base robots off Robot Wars, Battlebots (plz try to avoid though), TechnoGames, Robotica etc robots
-No Cheatbot2 allowed
-No Custom Components
-BFE (chassis, 180 swing and component) allowed (as long as it's still IRL)
-No SnS, Multi Piston, Nasty Pickle, AGOD, NCR, ZeroG, AAM or NARmour
-eFFe is allowed but won't change much as I'll send it to the test garage and back  (as long as it's still IRL)
-Trov Glitch allowed  (as long as it's still IRL)
-Weight- Middleweight MINIMUM - 800kg MAXIMUM
-I'll AI
-Only one robot imitated (IE if someone imitates Hypno Disc, no one else can)
-If you enter a robot, you can make as many MINOR changes as you like but no MAJOR changes
-NO JOKEBOTS FOR CHRIST SAKE
-I'm entering with these:

Battle Rules
-Whamettnuht's RW Arena
-5 minute matches
-Havoc occurs the match will restart. Will happen as many times as needed
-Head to Head matches

Match Rules

Awards results revealed on the Grand Final episode.
I think I've covered everything. Any flaws? Anyone interested?

When you send me it, please note the robot you're imitating

So like Robot Wars 2005 in Ironforge.

Also;
-400kg minimum? Your bots are below that.
-Robot Wars only? No BattleBots?
-Only 1 'new version' of any bot? So how're you going to do that, like whoever submits first?

So like Robot Wars 2005 in Ironforge. pretty much

Also;
-400kg minimum? Your bots are below that. I screwed up there, I've changed it now :)
-Robot Wars only? No BattleBots? yes
-Only 1 'new version' of any bot? So how're you going to do that, like whoever submits first? sounds stupid but yes

sure, let me enter my flying 5000kg typhoon 3 I honestly didn't know it came with Hovercrafts (another thing to change) but even so that wouldn't be IRL, and the weight has been changed...

You do know that the weight limits in Ironforge are half those the regular game right.

Hurricane, I can't access that thread, and yes another RW style tournament. Have there been any for a while?

09, I do, but it wouldn't be good wit half of these being LW's IMO.

Jaydee all the component weights are halved too, not just the weight limit... It's literally the same as any other weight classing system, just everything is halved.

Also why no BattleBots? You're just restricting the entries (in a non rw branded tournament) because of favouritism :p

400 kg in ironforge is 800kg in stock. So it's heavyweights. :V

I agree with Craaig, it makes no sense to only allow entries based off RW robots just because you're a RW fanboy.  Allow people to "replicate" robots from other robot combat tournaments, and that might allow for more variety among the entries.
-All Cheatbot2 parts except anti-ballast and to two cannons
Going by that rule, the only cheatbot2 components allowed would be the multi-extender (which I don't really see a point in using) and the hovercraft (which, if a bot used it, wouldn't be IRL realistic).  Just ban cheatbot2 parts altogether.
-BFE (chassis, 180 swing and component) allowed
-eFFe is allowed but won't change much as I'll send it to the test garage and back
-Trov Glitch allowed
If you're going to allow these building techniques to be used, then make sure the bots that use them still abide by IRL realistic rules (if you can even make a Trov Glitch bot IRL realistic to begin with).
-Multibots are allowed
You do realize that, in RA2, multibots don't work in battles with more than two competing parties, right?  Either make all the matches feature two competitors, or ban multibots altogether.

-eFFe is allowed but won't change much as I'll send it to the test garage and back It will as the glitched together parts will stay. The idea isnt to have floating parts, its to move parts out the way so they can be put in places where they cant normally.
-Trov Glitch allowed If someone makes something out of this glitch they are either trov, sonny, or craaig.
-Weight- Middleweight MINIMUM - 800kg MAXIMUM IRONFORGE WEIGHT DOESNT WORK THAT WAY! More specifically 400kg is HW, so 200 is MW. 600kg is SHW, and then there is nothing more. With this way, i can have Genetically Altered Pinsir as a splinter remake.
-I'll AI
-Only one robot imitated (IE if someone imitates Hypno Disc, no one else can)
-If you enter a robot, you can make as many MINOR changes as you like but no MAJOR changes
-NO JOKEBOTS FOR CHRIST SAKE

These guys are HWs.

Battle Rules
-Whamettnuht's RW Arena
-5 minute matches
-Havoc occurs the match will restart. Will happen as many times as needed
-Head to Head matches

Match Rules
You cannot have melees with tag teams! that means 6+ bots which means RA2 CANNOT! And 4 tagteams? Wishful thinking.

Why not do your own tournament instead of whining about what other people want to run?

Multibots aren't allowed, neither are cheatbot2 components.
The techniques Ounce mentioned can be used as long as the robot is still IRL.

1) Not allowed to only enter 1?
2) My previous unanswered questions still stand - why ONLY RW bots and why the wrong weight limit?

Ok, I'll change it to 1-4, will this mean that when signups are closed, if I don't have enough entries I can fill the gaps in with my own?
Only RW because I'm not a fan of BattleBots so much (Not that I hate it, but avoid it whenever I can) and I've changed the limit. Could I do it any more? What would be a sensible weight limit?

1) No you can't fill in the gaps with your own entries. You can provide 'byebots' shuffled in but not serious entries.
2) Banning BattleBots is completely dumb (and I grew up in the UK with RW) - there's a lot of American's etc here who watched BB not RW. If you want entries like you say you do...
3) The weight limit for Ironforge HW's has been mentioned multiple times in this thread and is even in the IF loading screen - all the component weights are halved so the limit for a HW is 400kg - yes the game will still say Middleweight but you ignore this as we can't change the in-game definitions, it's a self inforced rule which improves the game - makes all the motors more powerful in comparison to the bots.
IF Weight Limits:
LW-125
MW-200
HW-400
You get the idea.
