While most tournaments pit robots against each other. This will be the first where it tests a robot's endurance. This would be in a style of more like a reality show where a robot will get eliminated each week by the testing in the arena it will go through.
Tests will include,
-The Small Arena's Crusher (Armor)(Time Alive / Hits From The Cusher= Score)
-Resistance to Popups (HnM 4 would make a great contender)
-Battery Life (Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth)
-SHRiMech Speed (No invertability)
-Flame Pits (The time when all drive motors are burnt = Score)
-Resistance to flail razors (Time destroyed = Score)
-Speed+Tourque (fastest time across the joust arena/ the overall torque of the bot)
-Face off w/ a random Nar AI (2.0) robot (Most likely going to be the championship round)
This cannot be completely AIed in any way, shape, or form (trust me I've tried). But some of the tests can be feasible though self control or SOME AI. This will be the most difficult tournament yet.
Building Rules
-No crawlers
-No weapons
-No invertability
-Must have a SHRiMech
-No wedges
-No BFE or AAM
-No custom components
-No cheatbot2 parts
-MUST build to the weight limit (795+)
-No Darkrat parts
-No Castor Armor
-No Heavy or Steel V plows
-1/2 Sheets cannot be mounted directly to the baseplate
-DSL NOT Nar AI
-DSL HW
-No More Than 2 Upgrades
-If this gets accepted, bots will be due May 30-June 7
Bracket Layout
This is not a "first come, first serve" tournament. Instead, I would allow any amount of robots from different users to be able to qualify. BUT, ONLY 10 will make the final cut.
Each competitor will have their own "Pod" so other robots will not interfere with another's game play. To make this more easier, the arena the robot is in will in fact be skinned with something that would represent their pod (it's a surprise)
In every show there is a battle and a treatment, the battle will represent a random Nar AI HW. The longer a robot is alive with their randomly chosen robot, they will be exempted from the treatment.
The treatment could take as long as it can, depending on how each robot is designed. The robot that preforms the least greatest, would have to go through a penalty round consisting of a certain benchmark needing to be obtained in contrast to the original treatment. When a robot fails a penalty round, they are eliminated.
The arenas will go as follows:
The Small Arena
The Combat Zone
The Robot Wars Arena
The Ring Arena (NOT SERGE'S)
The Test Arena
The Bot Lab
Dummy's Think Tank

What do you mean by torque? There are lots of areas that can be measured by torque.
-
we will need a lot more info then that if this is to get anywhere....
-
Agree with Joe's assessment.
But sounds interesting, RR.
Looking forward to hearing the details.
-
Interesting. But this better be DSL...
What do you mean by torque? There are lots of areas that can be measured by torque.
Drive total torque, aka multiplying the motor's torque by all the wheel grip then adding the sum of the motors, aka:
4WD HPZ bot with normal stock wheels = 48 (HPZ motor torque, i think) x 1(normal stock wheel gri) +48x1+48x1 +48x1 = 192 torque
2WD Mag bot with Technos (not that it's a good drive, mind you, just an example) = 22(Mag drive torque)x2.4 (Techno wheel torque) + 22x2.4 = 105.6 torque
2WD

Updated the rules.

Actually, I was referring to the fact that 'torque' alone can mean drive torque, weapon spin motor torque, burst motor torque, or rotational servo torque. But yeah, since the rules are more clarified then there's no need for that. :P

I really like the idea now that the rules have been updated... and since you are pitting the bots against HnM 4 this better be DSL HW. (that wedges are outdated btw... could i just build and send you HnM 5 or do you want that resistance to popups test not to be too difficult ? )
I already have an idea for this BTW, but can the bots have non-damaging weapons (example, a flipper) or just a wedge ?
-
sounds good. I think Half Sheet, Caster, and Heavy Plow should be banned. Not much of resistance test otherwise.
Is this for DSL 2.1 or Nar AI?
-
Will enter, was gonna think about entering Final Z until I saw the "no invertability" rule and the "no weapons" rule.
-
@ Nar
-No wedges
@123STW
This is a test to see who could balance external armor, speed, power supply, and self righting the greatest. So plows and other external armor methods are legal.
-
Problem is those parts are indestructible. You can have HnM4 hit it for hours and you still won't kill the chassis.
-
Well, castor armor is defiantly out of the question.
For the plows, Heavy and Steel V are also illegal.
As for the 1/2 sheets, they cannot be directly attached to the baseplate.
For bottom armor you must use an upside down anchor to hold the armor.
*Updates Rules*

What about a skirt hinge?

HnM 4 is difficult enough given that the bots are supposed to be helpless.
-
What about a skirt hinge?
DP. I wouldn't recommend it (the spring back) but I guess as long as it is not armor itself.
-

I think you almost need to be a flipper to have good skrimech. Question is are are we allow to fire them normally or just for skrimesh?
-
A SHRiMech can be anything from roll bars to a snapper powered arm, the hard part is doing it without a wedge or a skirt touching the ground.
-
Yay I prefer roll bars!
-
Roll bars are ok, but they must be custom made using extenders.
*Update* New Logo
-
Wait, what ? No wedges ? And how are we supposed to survive HnM 4 since it goes through Ti halfsheets easily ?
-
make multiple layers of Armour ?
-
Yup, but a wedgeless, weaponless bot is going to fail against any NAR AI v2.0 HW, excepted the less damaging ones (i am notably thinking Critical Emergency), yet alone HnM 4...
Also we know the arenas for some of the bots but what are the other arenas ?
Also when i see the rules i can see every bot here being a super fast invertible pusher with massive loads of armor and a few JXs.
But that's just me... and quite the challenge as well. But challenges are good :D
-
-No invertability
-Must have a SHRiMech
-No wedges
Any more questions Naryar?
The point is to not beat HnM 4 but to last longer than the others.

DP
New web site.
Officially DSL HW
-
Most excellent... i already found a loophole that will render my bot near immune to the Small Arena's Crusher, but perfectly legal by the rules ! Muhahahaha !
-
:O
DO TELL
-
I won't. And it's not skirt hinge armor, since SKA isn't effective against such attacks.
-

That is still one of the many challenges you have to face.

Why no Posts??????

I bet i know what it is, but i'm not telling. :p

I found two loopholes in fact :P
-
Interesting...
-
I found a way to live with HnM 4 for 1 min with a bot that has plastic 1.
-
Super high chassis ?
-
Are there any other people interested in this????
-
ANY FEEDBACK?!?!?!?!
-
Stop asking for attention in such a generic way :P
No need to worry though... it IS really an interesting idea, you'll most likely have more than 5 entrants.
-
Arenas listed on the front page.
-
The Ring Arena (NOT SERGE'S)
umm what ?
-
The Giant Ring in DSL.
-
I was just reading the rules and when did this format get so very complex ?
-
Here, if you want to see where I got the idea from than click HERE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solitary_%28TV_series%29 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solitary_%28TV_series%29) . It should clear things up (a bit)
Just take away the "on forever" approach and "humans" then you'll see.
-
hooray for torture tv :P sounds like that show is something off Saw
-
That's what I thought at first but, it really looks like it could be a great way to get fit, loose depression, and win self confidence. Also I always wanted to interpret that show into RA2 and I think this will just might about do it.
