Sign Ups Stuff:
I wanted to switch up the game for now, the rules look a little scarce, but we will work them out!
Frontlines
FORMAT:
16 entries, 1 Per Person
Ironforge 1.2
BUILDING RULES:
Ironforge 1.2 HW
DSL-S ruleset. as always: https://gametechmods.com/forums/discussion/dsl-standard-ruleset-discussion/
No external programs allowed (BFE, RA2CF, Ro7B) except for skinning. The exception is BFE editing the chassis height lower, but components must fit in legally! I WILL check.
Thwackbots/SnS's are BANNED
Robots need to have controllable movement (No Crawlers, or 1 wheel and sh**)
No joke entries. This tournament is a showcase to push the envelope of what new designs work in RA2. I’m not going to waste a slot on a bot that isn’t designed to compete well.
I reserve the right to deny any entry for any reason.
Battle Rules:
1v1, Bo3, double elimination. 3 min.
Combat Zone, Hazards off
Minor Havoks, will be shown IF they are NOT MATCH EFFECTING, Major havoks will have the match restarted as necessary.
If a bot crashes/havoks 3 times, it will be DQed

(post your splash on the front page too champ, it'll get buried here)
predictions
Alien Pitchfork (Kid Delta): Looks fast and tough but I think it'll get deweaponed easy and just kinda spaz for the rest of the match.
Chop Chop (Botbuster): holy nuts that looks unstable. i feel like it's not even going to get super big hits in because it looks difficult to hit anything with the weapon with how far forward the treads are. I kinda dig it though for some reason. nice paint job obv.
Dragonfly (Kelimpel): its getting there but i still think the weapon placement is real clunky and will hurt it. the wedge looks really bad. i could still see it do some decent damage.
Golden Eyes (Cringey): i think this one is getting there too but it's a bit strange with some of the priorities (like the super heavy plows that probably won't do much?). I think it will get deweaponed quickly and have a very hard time keeping opponents on the narrow wedge.
Grill Snake (NeonCalypso): i could see it doing well in the combat arena. one of the stronger entries imo. no weaknesses that are too glaring.
HUGE (NH the introvert): points for effort but i see it doing poor damage even if it gets people up that real janky wedge (which won't happen). is it underweight?
Iron Beast 2 (MNB): looks pretty solid but I definitely would have lowered the plow strength and gotten more weapons on there. I also really question the logic of the saws. I think it looks good though.
Iron Ostrich (Hard Bot): haha i like it. the damage will likely be pretty poor and good lord that turnspeed but it's a fun idea. i hope it does well. hopefully it doesn't lose by points.
Killswitch (Thatdiscord): simple and solid. could do more damage if the weapons were angled up individually though imo. at least you rotated them, it should help. good weapon count too. gets my approval.
Nuclear Load Vega (Reier): wedge might suck who knows. i should have entered something more zany but i was lazy and didn't want to build anything original :dumb) winning ai battles in ra2 is basically a coinflip anyway I should have done a crazier entry. oh well
Osprey (8bean): get em beano. i still think it's too tough and not damaging enough but its not bad at all.
Ravage (Sickle Robotics): I could see it do well too (lots of jugglers my goodness) but I think this one also needed a weapon position tweak. it can't hurt to angle them up either. you could also get a lighter plow and use the weight elsewhere. still not bad at all.
Sharp Shadow (Badnik): i think this one could be really dangerous. or the wedge will fail. time will tell.
Sun Bear (Geice): if i cared about winning i would have entered one of these ;)
Tracker (Plerco): basic but solid. not a lot else I can say. probably would have helped to widen the chassis a bit but I doubt it'll be too much of an issue.
Bone Jaw 2 (Nary): i think it looks pretty good old man. not sure you need that many sickles but i doubt it's that big of a deal. i'm looking forward to seeing it fight. i think the hammers might be amputated pretty quick though against all the jugglers and VS and stuff, I hope it has the sustain to win with just a ramming rack.

I am impressed at how well my bot performed upside down. I hope my wedge actually come into play next round though. Sun Bear is definitely going to win the tournament btw.
Wow, that was close. Thought I was done for when I got outwedged in the third round.
Time to lose to Badnik, I don't see how I can win unless luck is on my side or I outwedge and rip his wedges off.

W2
Dragonfly vs Sun Bear
dragonfly actually had pretty decent weapon count overall but it was just super vulnerable to getting hammered in one concentrated spot.
Bone Jaw 2 vs Sharp Shadow
ripppp nary. i still think he's got a chance in the losers bracket. I like the bot i just feel like it's weak on killing power.
Alien Pitchfork vs Iron Beast 2
Just noticed now that pitchfork's wedge is on its piston
:claping
Grilled Snake vs NLV
i cringed on that first round death. I also think this one's gonna do pretty well in the LB
Iron Beast vs NLV
can't wait to continue my tradition of getting outwedged by MNB. ;) I think i can take em though.
Sharp Shadow vs Sun Bear
badnik's bot is pretty great imo but its just not the right design to beat sun bear. will tear through the LB unless some fluke happens.
HUGE vs Osprey
bean-dip wins. his weapons can do damage.
Golden Eyes vs Killswitch
killswitch has way more weapons and i doubt that cringey is gonna pull off some miracle ohko here.
Ravage vs Chop Chop
Is chop auto-DQed? either way ravage won't lose.
Tracker vs Iron Ostrich
even if ostrich outwedges tracker (which I doubt), it'll likely just lose the hammer immediately (unless it gets a super lucky ztek snipe) and be stuck in a boooring wedge lock the full 3min. it could theoretically WBP. that said I think tracker will just outwedge it and kill it. kinda sad cause I like ostrich.
(W4: Sun Bear vs NLV)
i got no idea on this one. honestly think NLV is the only bot here that might be able to stop sun bear. both bots have exactly the same weapons. could totally see it going either way. theres totally other bots in the bracket that can beat NLV though especially if it gets outwedged. mainly worried about badnik and plerco.
Shame about all the Havoks. Is Ironforge ussually this havoky? My bot may end up going farther than it even should just coz it doesn't lose components much so it's less prone to havok. I think mine and Reier's match was the best one so far. It was fairly even for both of us. I like that I keep winning matches while upside down, maybe I should just remove the skirts and invert the plows if I ever wanna rebuild it.
Ironforge is really havoky yeah. When I tested Bone Jaw 75% of fights had havoks in it. and i don't think my bot havoks that much unless the motors are ripped off.
also i expected to lose but not that brutally, holy sh**. oh wait there's a loser's bracket ? think I can beat ravage cuz it's a lot like the bot I beat beforehand - I think we can wedge lock and I can outweapon him. though i have a nagging feeling he'll be less easy to wedgelock than Golden Eyes due to the design. we'll see. next fight, if I win, will have to be a wedgelock. ~~if tracker dies to that SFTW it'll be humiliating~~
as far as predictions, i think sun bear will go to finals. that's a shame though, spikeball mode is so easy in an enclosed arena.

Yeah it's always been this havoky. The weight limits were reduced to cause robots to fly farther and we have a bunch of relatively high power motors, but this ends up causing a lot of havoks.
if only i would have been smart enough to add ballasts
gg neon
AND THEN I THOUGHT ADDING A WEAPONS ENTRY IN THE BINDINGS WOULD NOT MATTER. TURNS OUT IT HAD AND I JUST RUPTED LIKE CRAZY ONCE MY WEAPONS WERE LOST.
Oh well, that's a fair DQ.
tracker vs dragonfly had me on the edge of my seat the entire time
Oh hey my wedge actually worked for once.
what a thrilling conclusion. gg
i need to move the dark plate down the front of NL so it doesn't get ripped up like that again
Ok, I think that first Havok restart should have been played through. Havok should only be a restart if it's game breaking, but w/e I guess. Sun Bear would most likely win anyway cuz of its design. All I can say besides that is, Reier, why are your wedges always better than mine?

Yeah apologies, still am new to this type of meta.

what are you talking about bud you always outwedge me this is like the first time you havent
my wedges always suck hard
damn, wasn't expecting mnb's bot to have such good wedges. i'm happy with 4th place, though
