gj copying my rules but i'll bite.
will try to send something soon

i wouldn't encourage something 'difficult to ai' in an ai tournament though. those rules were for parsec so they might not translate well (I assume this is AI?).

IF DSL-S? I guess I have to come back from the dead for this one...

Edit: a JD for a DLS-S battle is a bit unusual though

Ironforge is very different from DSL - it was designed to be balanced for the DSL-S format. Unlike DSL, there are relatively few options to choose from as far as weapons and armor as concerned as to create a tight metagame among bots, and all of these components were meticulously balanced. DSL is nice for the gazillion replica parts and all the options to design robots exactly the way you want them, but IF is going to be more competitive.

A DSL-S tournament ? Why n-

oh wait it's ironforge, i have no idea how the meta works

banning SnS seems weird. havok rules might need to be defined better, though by "crash" you mean you can have match-breaking havoks three times before being kicked out or is it something different ?

Basically, if a bot crashes the game 3 times, itll be disqualified (but since this is something than IRL i dont know what to expect). and thanks for pointing out the havok rules! Ill have those fixed

meltybrain ai is the single most broken thing in ra2 i can think of that isn't blatant cheating. trust me.

Not to mention its such a cheap tactic, even a newbie could make a somewhat competent SnS meltybrain

you might also want to put a limit on major havoks, like the limit on crashes. else by rules you'll be forced to restart all the time if some bot is just a walking havok explosion.

(post your splash on the front page too champ, it'll get buried here)

predictions

Alien Pitchfork (Kid Delta): Looks fast and tough but I think it'll get deweaponed easy and just kinda spaz for the rest of the match.
Chop Chop (Botbuster): holy nuts that looks unstable. i feel like it's not even going to get super big hits in because it looks difficult to hit anything with the weapon with how far forward the treads are. I kinda dig it though for some reason. nice paint job obv.
Dragonfly (Kelimpel): its getting there but i still think the weapon placement is real clunky and will hurt it. the wedge looks really bad. i could still see it do some decent damage.
Golden Eyes (Cringey): i think this one is getting there too but it's a bit strange with some of the priorities (like the super heavy plows that probably won't do much?). I think it will get deweaponed quickly and have a very hard time keeping opponents on the narrow wedge.
Grill Snake (NeonCalypso): i could see it doing well in the combat arena. one of the stronger entries imo. no weaknesses that are too glaring.
HUGE (NH the introvert): points for effort but i see it doing poor damage even if it gets people up that real janky wedge (which won't happen). is it underweight?
Iron Beast 2 (MNB): looks pretty solid but I definitely would have lowered the plow strength and gotten more weapons on there. I also really question the logic of the saws. I think it looks good though.
Iron Ostrich (Hard Bot): haha i like it. the damage will likely be pretty poor and good lord that turnspeed but it's a fun idea. i hope it does well. hopefully it doesn't lose by points.
Killswitch (Thatdiscord): simple and solid. could do more damage if the weapons were angled up individually though imo. at least you rotated them, it should help. good weapon count too. gets my approval.
Nuclear Load Vega (Reier): wedge might suck who knows. i should have entered something more zany but i was lazy and didn't want to build anything original  :dumb) winning ai battles in ra2 is basically a coinflip anyway I should have done a crazier entry. oh well
Osprey (8bean): get em beano. i still think it's too tough and not damaging enough but its not bad at all.
Ravage (Sickle Robotics): I could see it do well too (lots of jugglers my goodness) but I think this one also needed a weapon position tweak. it can't hurt to angle them up either. you could also get a lighter plow and use the weight elsewhere. still not bad at all.
Sharp Shadow (Badnik): i think this one could be really dangerous. or the wedge will fail. time will tell.
Sun Bear (Geice): if i cared about winning i would have entered one of these ;)
Tracker (Plerco): basic but solid. not a lot else I can say. probably would have helped to widen the chassis a bit but I doubt it'll be too much of an issue.
Bone Jaw 2 (Nary): i think it looks pretty good old man. not sure you need that many sickles but i doubt it's that big of a deal. i'm looking forward to seeing it fight. i think the hammers might be amputated pretty quick though against all the jugglers and VS and stuff, I hope it has the sustain to win with just a ramming rack.

all I'm trying to say is that for someone who hates wedges, it seems odds that you have a hateboner for the handful of meta designs that don't rely on wedge rng and can actually counter some gutrippers. i don't deny that they're uninspired or unoriginal, but they're not invincible insta-win designs with no counters

i dont hate wedgeless VS nor did i say they are insta-win
i also don't hate wedges. I just don't like how random they are. you pretty much just roll a dice when you stick wedges on for how good they're gonna be.

Real chads make bots that aren't jugglers in Ironforge.
I literally forgot to add underarmor to APF, Which you know is kinda required against Verts most of the time

Yeah, I know hammer is the manliest choice. Though I'm just going to get rekt, I think, unless I manage to outdamage VS with my wamming rack, which I doubt. Oh well, metagame blindness :P

I'm not so sure under armor would help that much against vertical spinners. Gutripping ones for sure. Otherwise... well, the big spinners will just flip you with a hit and make your under armor only absorb a small fraction of the hits.

actually it might be pretty useful. crushing teeth take forever to get rid of a dark armor panel

Yeeeah, I always end up over-armoring and under-weaponizing my Ironforge bots. I get distracted by the big sexy HP numbers and how cool heater plows look I guess.

Ironforge is really havoky yeah. When I tested Bone Jaw 75% of fights had havoks in it. and i don't think my bot havoks that much unless the motors are ripped off.

as far as predictions, i think sun bear will go to finals. that's a shame though, spikeball mode is so easy in an enclosed arena.
