Nice idea but I feel the whole exclusion thing really kinda sucks and will drive the quality of your entries down tenfold.
Also no BFE = no thanks for IRL, even if I was allowed to enter, 90% of my irl stuff now uses some form of BFE for the better.

The thing is i want this to be entry level. Nobody deserves to be thrown in with people who simply are brilliant.
This is so they can learn whether their design has a flaw they havent noticed.

If people are brilliant they shouldn't be tryharding an IRL tournament and just entering something super cool looking, but okay.
I'll remain concerned over the matters previously mentioned but that's just going to happen regardless with these restrictions.

Eh, it's better for standard building. Getting rid of all the coloured names will get rid of most of the people who care about making the bot look good, not winning.

lol what ? no coloured usernames ? this is silly, this is an IRL tournament after all so WINNING isn't that important

also have fun with your sh**ty irl builds because no skilled irl builder will enter

Rank restriction removed.
Good job.

If you are using smartzones, use the ones in DSL 2.1 or dont.
Bad job.

yeah, just get Madiaba's smartzones on your DSL 2.1 copy... the DSL2 smartzones are sorely lacking

Rule removed, but whats wrong with the dsl 2 ones?

madiaba smartzones are vastly superior because vastly more practical and varied.

Rule Changed.

Right I'm just gonna go over your rules to fix them up

8 entrants.

Little small but okay

Exception of BFE for chassis shape

No external editing at all - BFE, AAM.

Oh. Also I'd recommend just allowing BFE for realistic purposes... makes everything less awkward, because you're not gonna know if I attached a flipper segment that the game wouldn't let me for some reason, but it looks like it should've, via BFE.

No scuttlers, crawlers or walkers.

Why no walkers? Surely if someone gets creative and builds an actual decent walker, that's to be commended?

Most of this is just suggestions but yeah.

This is now a signups topic. The rules above may NOT change, and you have 3 months to complete the tournament.
Good luck. :)

Changed name of tournament, when editing you put it in signups. Will change name of thread.
Title: Re: First Strike Tournament Signups
Post by: cephalopod on December 01, 2014, 01:51:45 PM
That's because you asked me to put it in signups, and the post above yours says I put it in signups...
So it's in signups.
Technically you shouldn't be changing the name. But whatever, it's pretty minor.

Post by: Avalanche on December 01, 2014, 01:57:49 PM
I started changing the name before i saw your post.
EDIT:
Received HurricaneAndrew.

And NOW you've edited in your entry?
You're REALLY meant to do that BEFORE signups open - you never said you were entering.
Dat track record you mentioned...
Title: Re: First Strike Tournament Signups
Post by: Avalanche on December 01, 2014, 03:03:30 PM
Well would you like me to bow out of the entries?
Title: Re: First Strike Tournament Signups
Post by: cephalopod on December 01, 2014, 05:03:46 PM
Well as you technically showed it before anyone else entered, you can leave it in, but PLEASE note for next time. It is in the rules somewhere.

Craaig and Playzooki recieved,Playzooki's bot crashes the game upon importing and when i tried to AI craaig's bot it ended up causing my game to repeatedly crash at the second load screen. Im going to reattempt the AI process of the bots. It may be that the laptop i am using ATM is just not strong enough to screen record and play RA2. If so then I will pick this up again after christmas, where my main laptop will have a new charger.

I will still take in entries however as i can still get stuff done.

EDIT: Craaigs bot no longer crashes my game, still needs some work, and i have 3 months to do this in so im ok for the time being.

I've heard lots of people say similar... just look at the Tournament Ban List :P
Don't get too complacent is all I'm saying.

I should have enough time. If everything goes wrong then i promise to pick this up as a display tournament or a official tournament. THIS WILL NOT DIE.

Where can I find this ban list ;P

Anyway, at least you have the Christmas holidays, I was idiotic enough to create mine at the end of the summer holidays.

Speaking of which I need to ai some bots

Still contemplating my entry

irl hw ? while drunk ? this could be just comedic
Title: Re: First Strike Tournament Signups

Would people mind if i left the tournament entries so there is space for Naryar? Because everyone wants to see him make a IRL bot while drunk.

Dont even think about doing this. You already stated signups are closed, and this would be unfair.

Well thats that idea shot down more than a Luftwaffe plane flying over london in a time where there was a Who Has The Most Anti Air Guns competition.
Title: Re: First Strike Tournament Signups

It's completely and utterly against all the rules to reject entries for someone else to enter, so yeah.

Right, this can move to SBV now. All entries AI'd, ive got a ramshackle splash, and i just need to do the bracket with challonge.

Bracket is ready, and im just going to make a test video today perhaps.

Make a new thread in SBV whenever you're ready.
